I'm not sure if you can give me the most accurate answer but it's a shot.....I've been told that only the Sopra No3 was the only Focal speaker with 100% collaboration and design with Naim, and that the NAP-300DR was the amplifier used to voice them with and the Statement as a final listening is this 100% true or some what true?....I heard this from dealers to distributors here state side in the USA and if possible get some insight from Naim....please don't shoot the messenger best regards

Works great! I've previously tried a FCXS on my CD5X and found the pairing a bit trumped-up. Bass was overly pronounced and became a distraction in long-term listening, especially with HDCDs. My dealer insisted I might find a different result with a HCDR on the 5X and he was right. Balanced, bold and beautiful. The DR aspect adds a nice smoothing factor to the digital output and my HDCDs have a solid yet balanced tonal presentation. Reduced noise floor, more refinement, better attack and...

Ok - so I'm a proud owner of a mullet which brings me great pleasure and hopefully, when funds allow, a foundatìon for future development... I dream of a hicap, nap250 and ndac. However with a birthday looming and the possibility of some gifted cash I'm pondering treating my set up to some tlc courtesy of class A. However I will only be able to afford to service one item... the nac72 or the nap150. As far as I know neither have been serviced. So, which do you think will benefit the system...

Can the Nap 250DR be connected to a Non-Naim pre amp (Linn akurate DSM) Do I need special cables? Or is this a combination that is not recommended? Theo

RAJAR have publish the latest UK radio listening trends, http://www.rajar.co.uk/ Q3 2016 % Q4 2016 % Change AM/FM 54.5 54.8 0.55% DAB 32.3 32.9 1.86% DTV 5.2 4.9 -5.77% Online 8.0 7.4 -7.50% An unexpected downward change with 'Online' (internet radio) This cannot be seen as a trend, its just a one quarter change in the steady growth trend in this sector . The same applies to the increase % in FM listening. NB: eagle eyed math nerds will notice the % share numbers don't total to 100%, the...

We're in the process of refurbishing part of our house, and that will include putting in a better dedicated supply for the HiFi (separate consumer unit, 10mm cable and a couple of double sockets.) We then had the bright idea that one of the bedrooms would make a really nice extra living room, and we could put the HiFi in there. We'd still want music in the main living room, though - maybe a 'vintage' shoebox system, or perhaps a new Uniti of some sort. So that would benefit from a dedicated...

I was reading elsewhere on this forum and came across the Sonus Faber thread. Saw these gorgeous speakers. Those of you with SF speakers. I would love to hear your experience. I currently have a set of Focal Diablos and just wondering how different would SF speakers be.... Moderated Post: Link removed. Richard, please don't post unauthorised links in the Hifi Corner. Please see forum rules. Thanks.

Hi, My current set up is: Rega Rp8 / Apheta 2 Rega Aria Naim Uniti 2 (2013) Uniti Serve (2013) NAP 200 (2005) Kudos X2 Chord Epic Twin All on hifi racks support with isolation platforms. It all sounds pretty good (particularly the RP8) but I'm thinking what the next step might be. Would be interested to hear opinions as to whether I may have created an unbalanced system here (I originally planned to have a simple streaming solution hence purchasing the US and U2) but it has expanded! If so...

Some thoughts and reflections on owning a Naim system outside of UK, after my three year-old ND5XS had suddenly succumbed to a 'Bridgeco init 61 fault'. While a network chip failure is not normally expected on a product from a high quality and, accordingly, a fairly expensive brand - it just happened...! And I am not amused by it. Not at all. What triggered my round of thoughts was my perceived excessive cost of repair, some $700 quoted only for the part, plus a service fee. Under some...

I have a next door neighbour who is a professional sound engineer & his wife a violinist. He is interested in recording processes & she in music, but interest in hifi = zero. Its the same with my jazz playing friends, they have a real interest in the recordings but specifically the artist & their techniques & variations, but hifi = whats that?? They are quite content to listen on any-ol' replay rubbish. What experiences have you folks had on this?? Incidentally my sound...

For some reason the cd mech won't exit the body of the hdx. The flap is not jammed - this opens down with any hindrance. The mechanism clicks likes it wants to open but something is preventing it. It clicks a few times, spins and then resets. Anyone got a fix is the cd knackered??

I've just packed away a Nakamichi cassette deck after using it to listen to tapes of the 1981 BBC Radio 4 adaptation of the Lord of the Rings. Excellent by the way, one hell of a nostalgia trip and far more true to the books than the more recent cinema versions.. but I digress. I packed away the Nakamichi but left the interconnect attached to the tape input of the NAC282. Between tracks on the LP12 I realised there was a fairly pronounced hum coming from the speakers that hadn't been there...

Good afternoon all. I am looking to replace my 3 year old Cadenza black cartridge, and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a possible replacement (My set-up is in my profile). I'm looking to spend probably up to £4K, auditioning cartridges as we all know is "tricky", so i thought a good place to start would be here. Im looking for something with a touch of warmth, mainly listen to pop, rock, not much classical. Koetsu cartridges seem to be well regarded, my question with these...

As per title. I just got a pair of B&W PM1 to replace spendor s3e in my nac-n 172xs + nap 200 system. Currently have Tellurium Q black and Naca 5 on home dem (against my DNM reson speaker cable) and I kind of prefer the Naim cable, although what TQ does better is pretty obvious. Just wondering if everyone who has had or heard both these cables prefers the TQ, as it would appear when reading around the web. Oh, and hi and a happy new year to everyone! :)

For years I have used a Yamaha E-800 to provide its niche capability of 3.1 with the 2.0 sent analogue to my main system. I have accepted the dramatic difference in signal between my other sources and the fact I need to turn the volume up toward 12 o'clock for the 5.1 to balance correctly. This wasn't such a hardship with my Naim amps as they had those new fangled remotee controller things. The new amp requires a personal visit to change source and volume. My sources for film content are...

Is there anywhere you can get one of these posters? I think it would look very swell framed in my listening room :-)? The Your Nobody without a Naim would be sweet too..

Hi, have just upgraded from a Nap 92 to a Nap 72, later CD version. It sounds fantastic to me, running it with a newly serviced CDS 1. However the phono output is very very quiet. I assume that's because my LP12 has a K9 moving magnet cartridge and, I'm hoping the phono card in my Nap 72 is for a moving coil cartridge. So how do I remove the case of my 72 and how do I determine which phono card I have. Cheers Mike

Hi, I am having RF interference in my system. I completely disconnected my 272 from the 300 but still can hear a radio station if I put my ear to the twitter. This makes me believe that the RF is not coming through the pre. If I turn the amp off the RF disappear. If I disconnect the speakers cable from the amp, it also disappears. I checked the electrical connections too. The voltmeter is reading less than 1 v between ground and neutral and 117v between hot and neutral, which means that the...

Hi all, I potentially have a pretty deal on a CDS3 from 2003. It got a mech renewal in 2013 from a certified Naim dealer. In the back of my mind I have some doubts because of the fact that the player is already pretty old. I'm coming from a CD5X/FC2x combo on a Nait XS. I'm looking for an "end-player" so to speak and I've been looking for a good deal on a CDS3 for some years now... CD555 won't happen (too expensive). I purchased a young 3rd party PSU just a few months ago as I knew it would...

This is my first post so please be gentle! I have followed the forum for a long time as I have gradually upgraded my Naim system and have learnt a lot from you all about how to set things up. I currently have my components on a single stack of Fraimlite. I noticed an improvement moving from an older glass and steel AV stand. Following advice from the forum I have also experimented with stacking order which has also improved things. Now I would like to optimise my system further and moving to...
