Hello! At the moment I am testing DAC V-1 and I am quite blow away with it! I am almost sold on it. The music just became alive. It is connected to Nait 5i. I tried 3 options: - v-1 as preamp via rca - v-1 as dac only via rca - same but with connected DIN earth on both devices (with the earth switch in floating position). For some time, I wanted to connect my Samsung TV to my ND5XS. But now, since Wagner's Ring Cycle (last year's Opera North production) is available on the BBC iPlayer, I shall no longer postpone this!!! So I wondered about decent Toslink cables. Since Audioquest's Cinnamon Ethernet cable is well regarded here, I thought the Toslink cable from the same range, for instance, might be a good choice. Any experience or recommendations here? I've been waiting for years for Naim to release a personal audio device, so I'm now convinced that the only way that will happen is if I go out and buy some other brand. Surely then they will release their own offering the following day. So the question is: which of the current high-end personal audio devices offers a sound which is most in-line with the Naim sound? I'm thinking possibly the Audiobox Explorer or one of the offerings from HiFiMan or Astell&Kern. Any recommendations or advice?

While my really really wonderful MA Gold 200 really really give me all I need in terms of sweetness, resolution, image and authority when necessary, I have a really good opportunity to buy a pair of Dynaudio Confidence C2. I managed to have a listen over their owner's house but due to placement in an empty room (waiting for a new owner) and a really underpowered amp (meridian G56) I didnt got a change to hear them really sing. Hi, Im ne to the forum and have a question in respect of Streaming. I recently upgraded from a Unitilite to a NAC202/NAP200DR/NAPsc and I'm currently using an Arcam CDS27 until I can afford the next upgrade to an NDX or ND5 xs. My speakers have never sounded so good (B&W CDM7se). The question is that from the information that I have read the DAC is seen to be an upgrade to both streamers. I've recently put a system together comprising CDI, 82, Hi Cap, 180 and Rega Elas, I also use a hiline between CD player and pre amp. Speaker cable is Van Damme hi fi 4mm. I know this system pretty well having owned the same many years ago but with a 250 and NACA5. At present the system is pretty lean. I tried a 250 and it didn't really help which surprised me a little (even after it had warmed up for a few days). Question is should I get NACA5 or try another 250? Or both? Which first?!!!! ...

Well, I'm pleased to advise that I had confirmation that my complete system will be replaced with brand new components which i expect will arrive after Christmas. I'll be getting the DR versions of the hicap and the 250 too, so all in all I'm pleased given the circumstances. I'm still enjoying the excellent combination of Melco-Naim-Kudos Titans-Sonority with "full loom" Chord Music cables. It's beyond what I ever thought was possible sound wise but of course it never ends... Chord Music is a very strange cable. It's "beyond hifi" and just gives a strong (and extremely addictive) sense of being there. No more, no less. Best I've ever heard cable wise. But full loom it wasn't... After a gap of some years I am now able to revisit my system and music room (after promising to redecorate). I want to go all NAIM and is mainly thinking of trying to find a used NAP 100 poweramp. I have bought a lovely Supernait 2 and have been enjoying it's full and competent sound into Neat Momentums. I have done the psu upgrade with an older Hicap. This is the non dr version so I'm wondering if this is an advisable move or should I save for a Hicap DR?

Is anybody contemplating downsizing, from a separates setup to a new Uniti Nova (once available)? I wasn't able to get on with the Uniti 2 due to a harshness in its sound characteristic which caused ear pain and subsequently found the Nait XS-2 + Naim DAC setup to be preferable. However with Uniti Nova if this is no longer an issue and with the added functions and capability, may be worth considering. well I know this has been covered but after 2 years with a cdx2 with xps2 I opted to buy a cds3, threw on fleetmac rumours and..... to be honest there's no comparison cds3 is remarkable right across all ranges if I could describe it in one word it would be realistic, thats it I'm off to enjoy more music
