Hi All, This is my first post on the forum and I have found it invaluable whilst considering my first Naim purchase. I have a 272 on order and am just trying to decide on which power amp to go for; the 200 DR or 250 DR. I appreciate that the merits of both have been discussed often on this forum but my question is more specific: is the 250 DR worth the additional cost if the majority of my listening is at fairly low volume (wife and kids asleep upstairs)? We are talking about 8 o'clock on...
My DAC-V1 won't start anymore: once the power switch is on the logo freezes and then nothing happens. I also noticed that if immediately after powering on I push any button, then instead of freezing at logo it freezes at caption "Unable to write Flash 4". Could you help me please?
In a few days I'll be stepping up from NaitXS, hugo + mini to 300 (non-dr). As I have not decided on the pre + streaming yet I thought it would be best to ask for advice. I'm currently considering secondhand NDX (3000 eur) + 282 (3000 eur) vs 272 (new, 4500 eur). I have about 5k to spend so 6 would be a bit of a stretch. Would the 282+NDX better the 272 much? Any recommendations or advice?
Good evening I know that OSX and Windows are officially supported. Anyone still using LINUX with good results? If, what distribution and musicplayer? There seems to be alot of alternatives out there. Thanks.
I mentioned this may happen on several other threads. Wheels did not get set in motion as fast as I thought at first but it is happening. My Twenty.23s were ppicked up by the buyer today and cash changed hands and Twenty5.23s ordered. Bit of background. It's a fairly stange upgrade in my opinion. I'm never one for the near sideways move. In general it is not cost effective. An evolutionary change is rarely satisfying compared to a revolutionary change that takes you to a different direction...
Hi ! I now use 2 x Nap 100 driving Linn Kan active /Snaxo 2-4.I sounds excellent,it beats passive Nap 135´s. Having used 4x Nap135 active Kans before, which was fantastic... I would now like to use 4xNap 100 using one channel of each Nap 100,will there be any risk of damage using just one channel in the power amps ?
I bought a Nait2 last summer to replace the Muso in my backup system. After rediscovering the magic of the olive era I decided to abandon ship on the 5 series in my main system and build a full olive system. Now I have an 82/hicap/250 into ATC SCM 7s. The main source is a Rega Apollo-R into the nDac. I would eventually like to move to floor standing speakers, but before I do that I would like to upgrade the source. I assume the natural move would be to add a power supply (somebody correct me...
For me it is definitely Tandberg which was established in Oslo in 1933 as Tandbergs Radiofrabikk by Vebjorn Tandberg and folded in 2010: The company began in the radio field but became more wildly known for their reel-to-reel recorders (and televisions). All their Hi Fi gear exhibited a rare blend of advance engineering, contemporary designs and an excellent sound. Their early receivers and cassette tapes and later their separates were legendary for their musicality and set a high standard...
My 500 shipped without the key to open the R-Com and replace the batteries. Is this just a normal Allen key and if so, what size? Thanks Dave
Question is in the topic line..... I'll try both, but just wondering what other's experiences have been. More bang for the sonic buck just powering the Superline or can you power the SN2 off the HiCap DR and receive the same benefit? Clearly two HiCaps would be the play..... but not an option at present. Thanks!
I have recently bought a 2nd hand nac 152 xs and the remote control does not work to control it. However it does work with changing the volume on my naim n-sub so the remote control itself does not seem to be broken. I checked with the guy I bought the 152 from and he swears that the control has worked for him. My question is if you can program naims remote controls to work with different units and wonder if I by accident have happened to deprogram it and how can I solve this?
I am using a Stageline N in an olive 82/hicap/250 system and am currently using an iSupply to power the Stageline but would like to raise the performance level without putting an extra Flatcap2 in the stack. Can I power the Stageline from the olive hicap or the 82? I no longer have the Stageline manual and looking at the backs of the 82/hicap doesn't suggest an obvious connection path.
Hello. I'm thinking of having the good folks at AV Options in Portland, USA upgrade my amp since it's been almost 14 years since it's been recapped. Has anyone had them do an upgrade? I'm wondering how their standard vrs. premium upgrades will sound. Anyone compared a s vrs. p upgrade side by side? Thanks
Hi, I'm now in the middle of an (up/re)grade process and intend to hook up my new Olive 250. Until my 72 arrives, I'll run my Supernait (SN) as a Pre but shall I use the HiCap (HC) for the SN and power my Stageline (SL) from the SN or use the pre-out on the SN and use the HC to power the SL? Puuh, lots of abbreviations there. When we re done with this question we'll handle the next step of the (up/re)grade!
Hi All, Hope someone will be able to help with my NAC / NAP setup i'm probably doing something obviously wrong. For ages i've been using an NAC 42.5 with a NAHA and no NAP and it seemed to work without it being powered. I've recently bought a second hand NAP 90 and am having trouble getting it working At the moment I have the NAP plugged into the 4 pin on the NAC. When the NAP is turned on the green light comes on the unit and you hear a slight hum out of my speakers. However no light on the...
Hi could anyone plz recommend any insurance companies for hifi mine has gone up 50 percent and I haven't made any claims in years .
I am looking to upgrade my Phono Preamp. I am using an inexpensive Project Phonobox S, and I will say it punches above it's weight, is very versitile and I like it, but it is not getting everything I think I can get out of my table, although I am estatic at the sound of it currently. My current system is NAC-N 272, NAP 250DR, Linn LP-12 (Cirkus/Ekos2/Lingo2/Trampolin2/Adikt/Funk Firm Achromat, Project Phonobox S),Linn Majik 140, Synology 1515+, NACA5, Grado PS500e. I have two that I am...
I recently dug this out from my loft - and it still works. Not sure if it would benefit from a service - it does seem to sound a bit 'polite'. Also, can I connect it directly to my Naim headphone amp, by passing the pre amp altogether?
WIth the boxing up of my never-used-anymore CD player, I have an empty Fraim shelf. Top to Bottom: NDS - EMPTY - SN2 - HC2 DR - 555 DR Emailed my local dealer as the empty shelf was sending me subliminal messages all day . Dealer only has a 272 and SU in house. (They sell little Naim; mostly Spectral and other high current stuff.) The Gods were looking after me. Nothing to demo . . .
does naim have a SL snaic as an upgrade for the standard snaic that would connect a 52 to supercap or connect an 01 power supply to the 01 head unit? Also has anyone discovered another snaic manufacturer that would be an upgrade over the naim snaic in either of these Olive setups? Obviously din-din only for Olive boxes. Just some idle curiousity on this nice winter afternoon here in New York. david
After selling my CDI many years ago and trying several alternatives, I've got myself a CDI again! Love it!
If anyones interested (cause you are its the Naim forum ! ) over on The Ear site there is a very good review of the NAP 300 DR written by Jason Kennedy, well worth checking out.Jason liked it a lot.
Augur me well earthlings. Is the current lack of 32s, 42s, 72s and their ilk due to a chronic lack of supply or lack of demand? Time was when the Asian market couldn't get enough of them. Is pint size out? How mayst I trade up?
Hi all - First post here. I have a Naim Superuniti in my main listening space with a Rega RP6 record player. My speakers are Dynaudio S3.4s. The SU and the Rega are my only sources at the moment. I am thinking of adding either Uniti Core (and transfer all my CDs into it) or a separate amp to drive the power hungry Dyns but can only do one for now. Which would you choose first? Thank you.
I have recently got a NAC 152xs and a flatcap and intend to connect these to a serviced Quad 303 power amp. I am using both upgrades form the flatcap to the 152 and it seems to work to connect the Quad both trough the "standard" plug on the 152 or directly through one of the signal outputs from the flatcap. I wonder if there is any of these two routes that is recommended? I also intend to connect a powerline to the flatcap so I am thinking that maybe I will get the purest signal if conencted...
