I'm very happy with my recently acquired 282 and the Guru QM 10's I own do what they do very well and have served me well but if you want to turn them up loud they fail miserably they just can't take too much power and they are just becoming a bit tiresome. My budget isn't huge and so I have been considering some used PMC 23's my room is about 4 x 4m system is LP 12, ND5XS/282/200 speaker cablers are TQ Blacks, I listen to Reggae, Jazz and Soul mostly and I occasionally like to listen to...

Hi all! Hope everyone has had a nice Christmas. Having owned a nice pair of SBL for the last 6 years I have been starting to think about what can possibly take over for them when its time for retirement. Reading from the forum, three brands stand out; Neat, Kudos and PMC. I Wonder what could match the SBLs. I am specially interestede in Kudos and wonder if a pair of Kudos X2 could match the SBLs. Have anybody done a demo of the two? Is there any other of the three brands that can match the...

As I sit here awaiting any news of shipping dates from my dealer, I am curious how many others here are also waiting on one of the new Uniti units? Having sold my Qute and NAP100, I am very anxious to fill the empty gap where once the two units stood. And to get some music playing again when the Atom finally arrives. I'm checking the forum every few hours to see if anyone has updates....

I have never heard an ARO but have always been intrigued by the design. With the high cost of secondhand I looked into making one. Then it occurred to me that using titanium alloy (as does Ekos SE) for all the main pieces may have a mechanical advantage: near density of aluminium with stiffness of stainless. Anyway, after 2+ years of machining when I could fit it in I finally got it picking-up this morning. So far I'm impressed - certainly seems as good as my 25 year old Ekos.

Worth listening from 1:40 in on iPlayer to a most interesting 5min piece on the advent of 'audiophile' cafes and recorded sound quality.

After a few months of living without the hicap dr on my supernait 2 , I thought I would connect it up again and have a revisit , The result, prefer supernait 2 bare . Better flow and a more bouncy bass line. With hicap dr connected music became sharper and slightly clearer but fatiguing in long listening sessions. Just my earsworth. Rest of system is CD555, spendor S9 speakers and all naim cabling.

Hello, I have been reading on the forum about having spaces on fraim for pre amp and cd player (552 and 555 in my case) will improve sound quality. Does anyone have experience if there are difference in using medium or long fraim legs (instead of standard) to do this? Thanks! Martin

Hi Mates, Does anybody use SCM40 + NAP250 combination here ? Is this amplifier able to fully drive these speakers ? (Specified sensitivity is 'only' 85 Db.) My room is about 6 x 4 m and listening position is about 1.8 meters from the speakers. Thx.

Hi guys My Naim ndac is connected to a 2 x 330watt amplifier from another famous british manufacturer. As I bought the amplifier directly in Britain it came with a british power cable. To let it fit in a belgium power input I use a UK EU adaptor rated max 16 amperes or 3680 watt. Could it be that my amplifier sounds duller because of the power socket adaptor ? Should I buy a new belgian EU power cable ? Is 16 amperes enough for a 2 x 330 watt amplifier ? Kind regards Jean Yves

After a few years I purchased my nDAC but rarely used it and now I though of using it connect to iPod or iPhone for digital files playback. Anyone try compare the above? Is it convenient to use the iPod or iPhone to do the playback? I have the HDX before connected to the nDAC, and now the HDX move to my another setup at my another house. I have the CD555 for serious listening, just though of iPhone or iPod will do the job by playing as background music? Thanks and Happy New Year to all...

Hi, I bought a Digital Optical audio lead from John Lewis to connect my Mu-So to the new Sony Bravia WD603 TV. The cable loosely fits into the socket on the bottom of the Mu-So but is not a firm fit (no click to confirm it is properly fitted) and when I turn the Mu-So over it slips out. Am I missing something simple here, or have I got the wrong cable, or........... ALTERNATIVELY As both Mu-So and TV are cable connected to our network can I run the sound through the network? Appreciate all...

hello. after 10 long years i think it's time to say goodbye to naim. about 3 years ago I started on the sonos journey , and now use this setup all of the time. It's reliable and so easy to use and switch between songs. My naim system has sat gathering dust for the last few years with little or no use. I find the naim sound and quality has dismissed over the last 5 years. I was one of the people that wanted to champion the sepertaes system with upgrades but find that convenience and form are...

Having just bought a Naim 250 and streaming device, every review and every post says the amp is great, but... it's running B&W CM10s, and sounds amazing on some jazz records, and singer-songwriter type records, but when it comes to any great rock record, it doesn't handle it at all. I have had the amp swapped, but sounds no better. Classic records like Marquee Moon, Exile on Main St, most stuff by R.E.M., Teenage Fanclub, Pixies - all sound truly terrible. The bass booms, the vocal is...

my dealer was kind enough to lend me tonight a 282 + HiCap + NAP 250 (non DR) for a home demo. I never managed to hear a note... NAP 250 was either shutting down 2secs after powering on or (worse) blowing the fuse .... I checked and rechecked the connections but no luck. Maybe the mains line i use is incapable of supplanting the requisite current?

Here we with New Year itch to scratch. A coouple of days ago i found a '13 555psu DR for quite a keen price and i' d already formally agreed the purchase with the dealer. However, Yesterday our fellow member Massimo B. and i, payed a visit to my very first Linn/Naim dealer. The main reason to go there was for Massimo to take a look at some pre owned loudspeakers. Once there, our friendly dealer Mr. Sergio Pozzi ( I met him for the first time in Oct. ' 83 when i purchased my a Rega Planar 3...

I did it once, six weeks after acquiring my Naim system. I read a review of the floor standing Proac Response 1.5 speakers in which they were compared to my Tabellette monitors of the same make (both were two ways). The writer noted that the floor standing 1.5 had a fuller sound and a much more articulate presentation of classical music. Since that is my favorable music and the price difference between the two models was negligible, I borrowed a pair from the dealer for home audition. It...

Yes i know Din is the way to go with Naim but still sometimes my preference is RCA-RCA or DIN-RCA because it has more treble sprakle/bite/less warmth. Have 2 din lavenders for CD5italic and NAT05 tuner, one to the SuperNait cd input and the other the tuner input. Sound is balanced but especially with tuner also a bit warmish/wooly and "bass" heavy (less so with the din tape input!). With a cheap din to rca cable (din on the tuner side) sound changes and gets more clear/clean and upfront with...

I think my superuniti paired with B&W 804d2’s is a bit of a mullet. Based on the forum comments, a 272/250dr should fix that, but if we go further and add an XPSdr, are we then in monkfish territory? Just wanna be a halibut when I grow up…..

Having emigrated to Canada last year and having sold my Naim CD/Amp in the UK, I have now got around to looking at replacement kit. My speakers are a pair of cherry finished Linn Keilidhs with the KU-Stone base (sounded sooo good with Naim). I also have an LP12 to be connected ... Being of an age when browsing records and CDs was both mandatory and pleasurable, I have an enormous CD/record library. Additionally, I'm not really into streaming or downloading - never done either! However, I...

Currently, I use Neat's SX1-- a great pair of speakers. But I might be able to get a PMC's Twenty5.23 for a good price. Whilst I like my balanced SX1, I feel the PMC sound is a bit more exciting -- especially I like the more transparent treble. Allegri's Miserere, for instance -- wow! But I wonder whether the Twenty5.23s are a bit too much for my humble XS2. I am under the impression that the Supernait 2 is the sort of "minimum" for the Twenty5.23. I am worried that the XS2 might not do the...

Hi everybody, I would be happy for your advise. At the moment I cannot change my amp-situation and want to decide something about my sources. My bare cdx2 sounds great with my 202/200/fcxs/napsc although it seems to be clear that it should be sound better with my ndac. But I cannot hear it. Should I wait until my amps are better or is it just my personal taste? Thank you all for any view.

Hello, This is my first post here in close to 12 years. Naim and I had a great run that culminated in a 250.2/282/CDX2/SC in my main system. Kids and other distractions lead me astray. Currently have a simple set-up: LFD NCSE mkII driving Harbeth 30.1s and have just added a Naim DAC V-1 to use with a CD transport and a MacBook Pro server. So, my question: Can the V-1 drive a 250 DR directly? I understand the value of a pre, but would like to get there in steps. I understand the product range...
