I am waiting to get the NAC 152 XS + flatcap and wonder if the 152 sounds better connected to both upgrades from the flatcap rathen than from just one? I am also thinking of buying a headline and connect one of the upgrades from the flacap but wonder if this might compromise the general sound from the 152 depriving it from one of the upgrades and is it at all possible to connect a headline through the 152? I read on Naims site that "HeadLine takes its signal from the tape socket of any of...

I finally bought a pair of Chord odyssey 4 to try a bi-amp configuration on my system. I have two units of the Nac150x and a pair of Roksan Darius with "bi-connections" needs. When using a single amp in bi-wire confuguration the system performs well - Nac122x / Flatcap2x / Nap150x Having the first Nac150x connected (using black snaic 4 pins) to the "signal out A" I have simply connected the other Nap 150x to the "signal out b" output of the Flatcap2x (with identical cable) and split the...

Hi all, belated Merry Christmas and wishing you all a HNY. I've been thinking about adding a streamer to my main system - LP12 SE, 552DR, 2X 250.2 (non DR) active into SL2s. My serious listening is (quite clearly) vinyl based. But I'd like to have access via Tidal to a wider range of music for other family members to enjoy who aren't quite as into the inconvenient vinyl thing as I am or just like different types of music. What would you consider to be the best streamer for me to add from the...

Took delivery of new ( to me ) CDX2 last month. Has played beautifully but on Boxing Day it swallowed the puck ( which has never fitted as tightly as on my previous CD5X. I don't want to take the case off myself and it seems crazy to send it back to Naim for this. Can I safely take it to my local dealer ( who did not supply it but have their own engineeer ) to retreive ? Any idea why this hasd happenened and/or is it a common fault ?

I've posted elsewhere that replacing the XPS-DR with a 555-DR didn't make much difference and, by implication, wasn't a very VFM upgrade. well I'll be the first to admit eating humble pie is not so distasteful. How wrong was I?? recently, after an extended listening session, I realised that I was playing much louder with the 555 in place compared with the XPS. The noise floor is so much lower that I comfortably play at 40 whereas 30-33 was normal. 50 is not unrealistic but it is REALLY loud.

Despite the merriment and frivolity around Xmas still time to ask a (relatively) serious question! I have for many years had a separate earthing rod when I had the separate consumer unit fitted for the hi-fi. I did read that it was important to keep the ground moist around the rod, but alas have often failed to follow these (wise?) words. In my defence, the often wet weather in Yorkshire has come to my aid! So my query is...in true Radio 4 Gardeners Question Time fashion..."Does the Panel...

I have read a dozen posts and looked at the manual and as far as i can tell you cannot connect an original stageline (one output) to a flatcap and then connect to an XS2. I'm running it with a snaic into aux 2 for now. It looks like it would work for the old nait 5 but I can't manage it with the XS2. I try the same connections and get nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello to anyone reading this! I am a SCI/Tetraplegia C4/5 (Paralysed from my chest down - have to use wrist splints and a middle finger splint on each hand to enable me to use keyboard etc) and approximately 18 months ago purchased a HDX player; because of my physical scenario and with the use of specialist signal sending equipment, for the first time in nearly 27 years I can now fully interact with my entire CD collection (currently around 1,600). I must say it has been fantastic (putting...

A few month now post my upgrade to the 552 and all is well in Naim-Land over here, I love the sound, tons of body, space and definition, music that sounded plain in the old times now suddenly sounds rich and textured... I find it incredible how this device renders music... Very happy with my upgrade.. The one thing that I am trying to figure out now is the extra brightness/harshness I get at the higher frequencies, that is when sometimes things get harsh.. I wonder based on the experience of...

Sorry for the trite topic... but just wanted to share - listening to the Mojo Disc this month - 13 Sabbath Inspired Tracks - Heavy Nuggets Vol 4 and the system is rocking - great punch, timing and natural flow .. with impressive realism for heavy rock.. and this is my CDX2 Mk1 with no external power supply. These CDPs really are a masterpiece. Ok what has changed - well I got one of those Russ Andrews superclamp mains conditioners (really effective !) - and we have the Christmas Tree up...

I was asked to look after another forum members 250DR for a few weeks whilst he demos a 300. I didn't hesitate to agree and try it on the back of my SN. We hooked it up last night and the Immediate improvement in sound was an absolute joy to hear. I have recently added a HCDR and this I felt was a great improvement for the pre amp on the SN as many have said in the past. The 250 was a bigger step up and is a stunning amp. With improved clarity, bigger soundstage, and a much better control of...

I'm experimenting with connecting a borrowed 250DR to my SN2. How does the connection work? Does the connection go from the DIN5 pre-amp out from back of the SN2 into then 250DR or does the connection start from the DIN4 Bi-amp of the SN2? thanks in advance David

I am looking for an interconnect between my dac (RCA) to my original Nait 5 (DIN). I have read good things about chord interconnects and wonder if anyone has experience with the Shawline or Clearway?

About a month ago I switched my speaker locations from firing across the living room (around 2.75m apart, 3m to listening position). to firing down the room: In this set up, owing to various factors (location of doors, sofas etc) they are 4.5m apart, toed in, with around 4.5m to the listening position). I was flabbergasted by the boost in SQ, everything sounds much fuller, very detailed and with a great soundstage, even SWMBO commented how good the sound was. No new components added although...

For some strange unfathomable reason, my 282 has started selecting 'Mute' when I turn on the light in my garage! A bit weird..... The question that rattles around in my somewhat bemused mind, is 'Why'? I figure that the 282 is a sensitive piece of equipment so it will be sensitive to certain electrical activity, but logically I cannot see why this has recently started happening. My system equipment is on a separate consumer unit from all other house electrics, and actually, my electrician...

Hi I am new to the forum and just purchased my first Naim product UnitiLite. Because I need my speaker leads to go straight back I will not be using the Naim speaker plugs but intend to use some gold plated brass Deltron plugs that I already have. I think that the sockets are nickel plated brass and just wondered if gold plated brass would react with the nickel plating. Anyone have any views.

I note from a number of threads that the (Naim) recommended interconnect for BNC connections is best terminated with BNC connectors. That being the case, why does Naim provide a BNC to RCA adapter with each of the ((last generation) Uniti's? KR, J

I have a NAC 12S and NAP 120 that I purchased from Russ Andrews in 1976 and have served me faithfully for the last forty years (almost). Recently I moved them to another another room that's slightly larger than the one they were in and I'm feeling that I need more power. The heatsinks on the back of the 120 can get pretty toasty if you drive it a decent level for a while. I've seen several NAP 140 /150 /160 amps posted on the Interwebs at pretty decent prices, I'm just wondering if I would...

I have recently bought an old Supercap that's been promptly re-capped. Now I most connect it to my 282, and I need two identical Snaic5, one to carry signal and 24V, the other to just carry 24V. I say identical because I now know that they'll have each a section of the preamp in charge, and of course Naim's famous care for consistency in production should guarantee that whatever Snaic5 I buy, older or newer but black, should do its job the same way. And yet... if I were a true Naim fanatic,...

After having owned two HCDRs (the first one to power my NAC202, then another one to power my recent, somehow unexpected NAC282 after I had sold 202 and HCDR), I am now borrowing a HC2 waiting for a newly arrived Supercap to be serviced (when I learned how much the capacitors cost, I understood why it's called a Supercap). Well, the insertion of this 'normal' LM317 HC has brought some advantages – first of all, I hear some bass again. They say that the HC gives a slight bump in the bass, and...

I was reading Adam's post (Aphelion and Aria) from July this year (now closed) and this got me thinking. I bought my RP8 before the RP10 came out. I ordered it with the Apheta 1 fitted as this was the option at the time. I use Rega due to the ease of set up and zero requirement for fettling as I live a long way from dealer support. Since then, both the Apheta 2 and Aphelion have been released. I am thinking about adding an Aphelion to the RP8. Has anyone any experience of this combination?
