I'll be shortly picking up my new NAP 250 DR:-) After seeing this thread I am wondering if it's likely to trip my 13A circuit breaker, or worse, damage the 250 and DAC-V1. It's a dedicated circuit which until now I've been using exclusively with my DAC-V1 / NAP 100. The breaker is a Hager ADA913C (1P+N 6 kA C-13A 30mA A Typ) which I believe to be a RCD. I'm getting the bug to experiment, and I'm wondering what I might expect if I add a 200DR or 250DR to my SN2, then using the SN2 as a pre-amp. These are available on the used market now, and my plan would be to be able to 'try' this and then re-sell at minimal total cost to me if it didn't work out. Since not using my CD5XS, I have an empty shelf on my Fraim that could be used.

Hi Everyone Its my first post and wonder what your thoughts are. I have a demo booked later this week and am looking to upgrade from ND5XS to NDX but for not too much more money I am considering chopping in both the ND5XS and my Supernait 2 for N272 and 250DR. Speakers are Spender D7's. Do you think I'm going to notice a better sound quality or just a different sound? Maybe there is another option that I should consider? Looking forward to your feedback. In what seems like an endless, if fun, search for new speakers I've come across the Dali Fazon F5 and I love the looks. However, they will be a pain to audition, so before I start making an effort does anyone have experience of them? I'd almost settled on Focal Electra 1008be, but we have a hyperactive beagle and after what is being referred to as "The Incident with the Christmas Tree" I have had to rule out standmounted speakers. currently trying a xps dr with my n272 and 300 dr, it is a improvement but not quite what I had hoped for. Would a 555dr be overkill for the n272?

I recently purchased a N272 along with 300dr, it was always my intention to then add a power supply for the N272, the XPSDR was going to be my choice but i have seen a second hand XP5XS in excellent condition for sale. Just how much inferior is this to the XPSDR?

I have been offered a chord shawline to try between my naim dac and supernait 2 instead of Snaics anyone tried this cable regards Tony.

Anybody have experience with SN2 vrs a pair of 135 from 1986-7 recently serviced. I have an 52 pre amp, super cap, CDS3/non-Naim PSU. Need further down sizing. No sure best way to go. Have about 10,grand to work with. Any ideas? Thanks Whatsisname

My Naim setup is a NAC 252/Supercap DR/250DR with NDX as the source. All gear are plugged into a PS Audio P10 power regenerator, the 250DR into one of P10's High Current inputs. The room has a dedicated line but when I switch on the amp using the front panel button, the power inevitably trips and I have to reset the circuit breaker. A friend offered to sell me his used Super Lumina speaker cable for half the price he paid when he bought it new. My system is N272 with 250DR and ProAc D20R speakers with a NAC A5 speaker cable. I can not hear the SL before i buy it as he is far away. Will it make a significant difference to the sound of my system, or is the benefit of the SL more evident on higher end systems (300 or 500 for example)?

Just when I've got my system sounding like the 500 was earning its keep I thought I'd try 1 more tweak in the form of Darke Bear's plug order recommendation in place of my usual source first approach. hi just added a naim dac to my CDX2.2 connected to XPS now when I play a HDCD disc the HDCD light does not flash before fitting the dac the light used to be on when playing a HDCD any advice please regards Tony.

Recently I discovered that my 82 preamp was not performing at it's best - sitting as it was ontop of it's Supercap PSU. I could hear no hum through the MC input even at full gain so assumed there was no problem. My 16 year old NAP500 is (past) due for an overhaul. It still sounds very good but the DR upgrade pushed me to pull the trigger. The cost is a good value in my opinion. It will be gone for about 5 weeks, I'll be using a Supernait 2 during the interim. My 552 (which I bought in 2003) will go in next for the DR upgrade. I have acquired an old Naxo-3 (S/N 527x). The firm's records don't show much detail about how it was originally set up. It has never been back to the factory, but was owned for all it's life by an Audio Engineer. It looks pristine. Hi all ive had many Naim systems in the past including, at best cds2 into 82/250. More recently I had an NDX / Supernait combo and loved it. Having moved house and needing the money I sold my set up including Muso and was left bare for 12 months or so. Having been extremely impressed with Devialet I recently bought a Devialet 120. Unit is switched on at the mains socket and on at back. Should I leave it permanently switched on once set up or switch it on and off every time I use it. The unit is in a cabinet so if I do switch it off it would have to be at the mains ssocket switch is that OK.
