In fact, do both at the same time! How's this for unexpected sound quality improvement? We recently changed our central heating: took out the old boiler and hot water tank and replaced them. The new hot water tank is in the same place but different and bigger, and the new boiler is now upstairs (it was downstairs). The amp used to occasionally hum, and it almost never does now. And the sound feels just a fraction cleaner too. So apparently the new hi fi kit you need is from Worcester Bosch.

I got my new LP12 home today and love it, one small problem not so bad but annoying I have a very slight needle jump when walking nearby or at a particular part of my room. I have spoken to my dealer who as always is very helpful and they have suggested a wall bracket, I know the benefits of this but don't want to fit one to my wall, my question is will a 2 inch thick slab of granite under the complete length on my rack help???? regards

Please advise! Can i power a NAC202 via a flatcap? I have read elsewhere that I am unable to power a NAC202 from a NAP150? I currently have a NAC112x, which the NAC202 will replace.

Sorry to hear that Paul is leaving Naim. After years working alongside Julian Vereker, he took over as the boss after JV's untimely death. He looked after Naim till recently, handing over the reins to Trevor Wilson last year, I think, moving to the role of Chairman. Noone should underestimate the difficulty of the task presented to him in 2000. Many things changed in that decade and this one -- the arrival of the big Naim amps (500, 300, 552, 555) at a significantly higher price point than...

I am noticing on a lot of DACs that I'm auditioning that the balanced XLR outputs are superior to the single ended RCA outputs. The amazing Schiit Yggdrasil is an example. At the moment I have a Chord Cobra RCA > DIN cable running into my SN2. What product would you all suggest I use to go from balanced XLR to RCA? Perhaps something like the Jensen PC-2XR would work? Thanks for the advice.

Hello everybody, Everything to my joy to have a NAC122X / NAP200 set, I want to test it ... and there the NAC122X does not turn on! I try again, I go back to my seller who graciously provides me with another cable, but still nothing ... the NAP200 lights up, "crac" usual in the speakers, but the NAC does not shake, nothing turns on. I check remote control and cie, nothing. When I look at the NAP's 4 pin socket, I realize that the small metal end of "-ve" hole is not visible ... it would...

I finally found and bought a Mana Acoustics Isolation Platform, in mint condition with all the spikes and (most important) the original glass. This is a great product that is sadly out of production fo many years now. It works great under my CD5x cd player... or must I say that the CD5x is playing better... But putting aside used Mana products, what isolation platforms have we in the market today? I mean within a reasonable cost, because after all it is only a performance tunning gadget. I...

OK, so the folklore goes that you should put brain and brawn together in the same vertical stack because of magnetic field leakage from the power transformer in a PSU (or power amp). So todays quiz is this... if I place a calibrated magnetic field meter directly on top of a Nait 1 (which is as Old Skool as you can get) what is the magnetic field strength in Gauss? Or milligauss? I've read a lot about measuring rooms with sound pressure meters to identify problem areas. I do understand the principle, but it always leaves me a little bit confused as to what I should be looking out for in terms of measurement. Is anyone.able to provide a description of what I should be looking out for in the measurements in easy to understand terms? For example, I should take measurements from all corners of the room, should I be hoping for the same reading in all corners meaning my...

Hi I'm new to this forum and would welcome advice please..... My system comprises NDX,CDX,NAC 202,NAC 200, Flatcap , NAPSC and Allaes. My system is great for me however when I require higher sound levels for parties a speaker makes a "popping" sound once the volume is turned to 12 o'clock. My amp is rated 70w and my speakers 6 ohms 100 w so I was thinking about either upgrading the amp to NAC 250 (80 W) or upgrading my speakers to say 150w. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks

Recently the forum’s discussed the new Naim price list, the price of Ethernet cables, the price of LP12 upgrades, the price of a 552, etc But, is the actual selling/purchase price really relevant. Many years ago I practiced what was then called Terotechnology, the study of the life cycle costs of plant, machinery, buildings etc. Ultimately you’d end up with the cost of ownership per year. It gets pretty complicated, but there’s no reason why the basic principle can’t be applied to owning...

Following on from California Jim's experiences reported some four and a half years ago, I thought I would add my two pennoth after some six months or so with my own SU and NAP 200, before it all gets lost in the excitement of the new Uniti's....... Having had very mixed advice and comments on the forum on the wisdom of bi-amping, the opportunity to acquire a new 200DR at a really good price, Naim support's guidance on it being the best match for bi-amping the SU and the deed was done! And I...

I've just got a pair of Podiums being sent through from Townshend to try underneath my Ovator S600's based on Jason Kennedy's review. Sue at Townshend has been v helpful, even sending though some feedback they had from a S600 user and wondered if it was anyone on here? Anyone else had any experience of these? I'll obviously post my own findings.

Many of us realize from experience that to achieve audible improvements becomes increasingly expensive the higher up the upgrade ladder we go (law of diminishing returns). I think I am proving an opposite law: Law of increasing returns with diminishing inputs . I happily collected many Naim black boxes over the years ( several cdp's, amps and pre.'s). Even though I spent increasingly more, I was always happy with the result. Eventually I felt the need to downsize. I tried to keep musical...

It's that time of year again, so welcome to System Pics 2016. Let's hope it's a happy and healthy year for everyone. Here's are a couple of pictures of my stuff to get us started: with the exception of a Powerline everything is changed since this time last year, even the carpet and paintwork.

I have entered the world of streaming with a ND5XS -- and I love it. For the occasional CD, I can't really justify the costs of a CD5XS. So I wondered about two possible "budget solutions": (1) get a second-hand Cyrus transport (these seem well reviewed) and use ND5XS's DAC. Or (2) upgrade my Bluray player (the new Oppo UDP-203?) and use this one as CD transport. From a "utility" point of view, the Oppo solution appeals -- but would a UDP do a decent enough CD transport job? Cheers, Timo

I have just ordered a Hugo as a gift for my father. He has a Nait XS and I'd like to make sure he's got the right interconnects. From the source into the Hugo, do Hugo users recommend optical or coaxial (or something else)? From the Hugo to a Nait XS is it RCA to DIN? I'd be grateful if someone could tell me exactly which interconnect I need (how many pins on the DIN, for example) as I have made mistakes with this in the past. Would it be the same interconnect from the Hugo to a 282? I...

I use standard naim snaic in my all Olive system. One from 52 to supercap and one from NAT 01 power supply to 01 head unit. I don't see a superlumina snaic or any upgrades for snaics made by naim. Anyone have any experience with different snaics from companies other than Naim? Cheap or expensive - just curious. I don't see much discussion on the forum re this interconnect. David

Dear fellow forum members, for most of you this is well known, yet I was so astonished to experience the effect cable dressing can have, that I would like to share my experience: A lot of changes to my setup recently: Moved into a new flat; improved room acoustics with large shelves full of records and books; bought a ex-demo 250DR from my dealer for a price I could not resist; bought a used 282 online for a price I could not resist. Everything within just some weeks. It all happened in a...

I will then trade I'm my Flatcap for a Hicap then get that serviced. hopefuly that will satisfy my upgrade need for a while. My wife hopes forevermore, (no chance) Any thoughts? cheers.

Anybody have any experience comparing the headphone jack of the 272 versus some other setup with your home listening? My gear: 272/250-DR/Superline (HC-DR)/P9 . Any common knowledge on how to best utilize the K812? Just don't have the experience of listening through say a Chord Hugo vs 272 headphone jack. Thanks!
