In an earlier post I questioned the need for a pre-amp when devices like the DAC V1 and Hugo can directly connect to a power amp, well in theory anyway if you only have 1 source. I now get that a pre will match impedances, select source, etc and am considering wether or not to replace my 202/Hicap. Options are 2082, 252, Linn Klimax ( I know it does lots of other things too) ... ... then I came across mention of the Townshend Aleegri and did some reading up ... this passive pre seems to...

The question's in the subject title: Can a Headline be powered from the Aux2 (?) socket on my 252? If so, I'm assuming there's some impact on the 252 performance even when the Headline is on but not in use. Thanks Gavin

I have just ordered a serviced Quad 303 power amp which seems to have the same interconnects as Naim. I wonder if it is possible to connect it to my NAC 152 XS and/or flatcap? I plan to use this system with a pair of Linn Kan speakers.

Dear Forum I'm using an ND5 XS into a SN2, which I'm really happy with. However, I have a vague recollection that I've read somewhere that you can control the volume via the Naim app which I have on an i-phone. I've read the instruction manual, and haven't been able to find out whether this is possible (maybe I imagined it) and how to do it if it is. Does anyone know if this is feasible, whether any extra cables are required and whether it works ! Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Nigel

Hi all, well after a few weeks of owning my CD 5xs and nait xs ive now added a used flatcap and connected both to it. I was not expecting the hear the diffence i did after reading various comments regarding flatcap. The first thing i noticed was the sound stage has got bigger with more transparency, vocals are more realistic with a fantastic sweet spot. Im hoping the system will get better as the weeks go by as the amp and cd are now 5 weeks old.

Hi folks, May I seek your advice about how to choose and how to match of the following devices? I am very interested in NAC272 and knew that many existing users gave a positive impression to it. However, May I know the quality of the streaming of the NAC272 when it is compared with a naked NDX if the naked NDX is paired with 202/HC(Non DR)/200(Non DR) while the NAC272 is paired with NAP200(Non DR). Will the performance of NAC272/NAP200(Non DR) is superior to NDX/202/HC/200 or vice versa?

I was running a NAC 42.5 with an NAP90 power and NAHA powered by an NAPSC I mainly use the NAC42.5 with headphones and rarely play for speakers Unfortunately my NAP90 has been damaged during a house move and is in need of a repair. Do audio degrade if Naim units are piled ontop on each other? Do pre-amp or CD pick up interference if placed ontop on FlatCap or amplifier? I've seen in pictures that many Naim units been piled ontop on each other, if I were to pile my units should I place the amplifier at the bottom, then in the middle place the pre-amp and finally CD player on top for less interference? Reading Naim manual, Naim does not recommend using any chemicals to clean connectors from oxide. They say best thing to do is to push in and pull out the DIN connectors several times scrapping off oxide. My DIN connectors were messed up with internal oxide where the pins are located. I removed each interconnect from my units and sprayed CRC contact cleaner to remove the oxidation, before I sprayed the DIN connectors I wrapped kitchen papers around so it didn't leak any chemicals on the...

The volume on my Nait 5i-2 has a small scratch. When I ordered a replacement it arrived in a different shade than the original.The original is grey and rough and the replacement was smoother and darker, more black. I sent the distributor here in Canada a photo showing the variation in colour but he stated that the replacement was all he had. Does Naim have any original 2008 volume knobs still in stock in the UK? Is it the same as Nait XS2?. I compared photos and it looks identical.

Naim states "The NAPSC independently powers the NAC 282’s digital and control circuits," so my question is would upgrading the power cord on the NAPSC result in any improvements in sound quality? Not a Powerline upgrade, but I have a spare AV Options Tibia Plus Deep Cyro hanging around doing nothing right now. I know the best answer is "try it and see," but with my racking solution changing cords is far from trivial and if there's no theoretical advantage I'd as soon skip the effort.
