I would like to rip the 500 or so CD's I own to a low-cost hard drive to listen to via my Superuniti, any suggestions would be appreciated. I use Tidal as my main source. One other thing, I am thinking about getting a turntable in the future and digging our my record collection from the loft, Could anybody suggest a low-cost phono stage.

Is a micromega pw400 (amplifier 8 ohm 200 W) a good combination with the unitiqute 2 or the coming Atom. (micromega pw400 : demo 1000 euro)

A small test carried out today. Being stuck at home on a sick leave untill the end of this week I decided to play with some cables. Tested the following: 1. NDS + 555PS DR via SuperLumina (UPnP server: UnitiServe SSD with QNAP HS251 NAS) VS 2. CDX2.2 + 555PS (recently re-capped, non-DR) via HiLine VS 3. CDX2.2. + 555PS in a ‘digital out’ mode via DC-1 into NDS + 555PS DR via SuperLumina. Rest of the system: 252 / SCDR / NAP250, PowerLines on all components, NACA5 into Ovatros S-400. The same...

I bought a hi-line one month ago from ebay and found it has strong smell of smoke. I complained to the seller but s/he apologized gave me a discount and therefore I accepted it. I thought it was no big deal but I have been trying to clean it with alcohol, soap, swipe and vinegar but all in vain. I have also tried to blow it with hair dryer - the smell in progress really made me sick but no much better thereafter. I am now wrapping the cable with baking soda and hope a miracle will happen.

As the result of recent events that I'll not continue to dwell on, I now have a pile of Naim boxes and some cables that are no longer needed. Should I scrap the boxes, sell them? I have a concern that selling them might aid certain types getting rid of 'hot' gear.... probably an over reaction? Some of the snaics and power leads are still in excellent condition but again I'm concerned in the same way. Then there's the napsc which needs repair (din plug was cut off, but rest of cable...

I'm aware of Naim's historic and current power supply philosophy - bigger and purer, transformer-based is better. But then this is diametrically opposed to Linn's power supply philosophy - smaller and more efficient switching power supplies are better. Given that both manufacturers are considered to make excellent amplifiers, who is right? Or does it even matter?

I was following a thread started by Latte complaining about the state of a HiLine he'd just bought off that auction site, and then Lewis said this "You have to be so careful buying used. I bought an amp once on that well known auction site and it arrived in the worst packaging and state ever." That reminded me of a top end Sony CD player I bought for £800 from a foreign gentleman (and I use that word carefully) which arrived with some things wrong: firstly, it was a receiver, not a CD player...

A forum filled to the brim with Naim enthousiasts, that's a wonderful thing to discover! Have been reading your posts for a couple of weeks, but some little questions still remain. Most important of these is the one stated in the subject... But first a bit of history. My recent secondhand 'find', a UnitiQute (V1, the one without built-in Tidal/Qobuz/Spotify 24/96MHz), is my first real step into 'real' HiFi, after experimenting with stuff from Denon and later NAD. Was playing with a set of...

Hi all, Is it still possible to have a laser assembly replaced on a cd3.5 or is it the older cd3 that is only available.. Cheers.

This post by HH caught my eye: Hungryhalibut posted: People can dissect the Vodka cables, put them through an MRI machine, study them under an electron microscope and assess them against every Cat standard there is, and it says absolutely nothing about what impact they make, or don't make, on the sound of one's music. The fact that these cables 'shouldn't' make a difference 'because bits are bits' is irrelevant to what they do in the real world. We all accept that one Beaujolais Cru tastes...

I'm looking for a NAIM remote for my NAC282 that does 'what it says on the remote'. i.e. pres the aux1 button to select the aux1 input... I currently have a Narcom 4 on which you have to remember which number correlates to which input ( and source and record are different! ). I also have a Narcom 5 which I use for my NDX - again here the input selections don'tr correlate to the inputs available on the NDX. I can see that by having the same remote for multiple units that there will be a...

Once an avid record collector and part time dj, I'd tired of the constant drag and weight, and pared my collection down to a 100 or so lps and as many if not more 45's, locked away in boxes for the last seven or eight years. My digital replay is tight, but with only a V1 was lacking a way of input for a turntable (the DAC V1 has no analog inputs). So did a bit of research, went to my dealer, and lo and behold they had a Pro-ject Essential II Digital with the optical digital out. In white no...

I am flirting with a Chord interconnect upgrade from my HiLine to the CD555 for Christmas. Super Sarum T/A. My dealer says I will love it. He is usually right. It occurs to me that I should have the HiLine re-terminated with a phono din and BNC to go from the Verdier into the Superline. Plus a ground. If this is such a good idea, has anybody else done it already? Surely I am not the first. What do the Naim Forum use for phono cables? I have used a shielded TG Audio phono cable from the late,...

The 'What do you want for Christmas?' thread caused me to reflect... that I don't want/need any new hi-fi. I have genuinely stopped. NDX/Hugo TT/250DR/S400 is as good as I've ever heard and I shudder to think of the cost for what are comparatively tiny incremental improvements (based on the full monty 500 series I've heard at various times). Anyone else convinced they are on the last rung of the ladder? G

just curious on how the headphone section of my Uniti 2 is compared to stand alone amp/DAC? Is it thought of as cheap, ok, good, great? Anyone here use it?

I've decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my NAP300 to DR spec. A few questions: - Anyone got a feel for the current factory turn-around time? - Do I need to send off both the power amp and the 300 PSU? - Do the output transistors get replaced? - Current cost is £1495. Anyone know if this is due to go up on January 1st? Ideally I'd like to have my system available over Christmas but this might be a tad optimistic. If the price isn't going up on January 1st I'll wait until January before ...

So the Naim DAC can do sample rates 32 kHz to 768 kHz from USB and this was from a good few years ago. More recently the Chord DAVE can go 44.1khz to 768 kHz and these numbers are " bettered " probably from other dacs out there. I can understand how increase in numbers can result in more information etc. Who out there is utilising this facility ? How do you use this facility - what devices are used ? Where and how do you get hold of recordings that contain these numbers ? Is it any good -...

I am interested in the Pricing history + Service Costs of this wonderful Pre-Amp - Particularly as a number of older ones are appearing on the S/H market: What was the Naim Price of the 552 + PS when first introduced? What was the cost of a full Service at around that stage in time? What was the brand new price of a 2004 model? What was the service cost in 2004? What was the brand new price of a 2007 model? What was the service cost in 2007? What was the brand new price of a 2010 model? What...

Hello all I’d like some advise on a system change and felt the need to get some advise of people that may be in the know. At present I’m running a turntable system of Rega RP10 (poss with Aria) through a 72/hicap/135’s passive through SBL’s MK2. And although it sounds great I feel it’s time to modernise the system with some new technology and to lower the box count. My aim is to run a turntable/streamer system and keep my cd 3.5/flatcap for cd playback. I’m settled on the RP10 as my main...
