Hi, a rather strange and perplexing issue has reared it's ugly head. I've just picked up a #167.... nac 52 with matching SuperCap, both unserviced. I've been running a "last year Naim sanctioned serviced" SC with an unserviced nac 82. After the 52/SC arrived I naturally plugged the 52 straight into the warm/turn on serviced SC and gave it a week to get my ears warmed up to the new Dynamics. I use 272/250DR with Focal Aria 926 and they are really spot on to me. I have some cash to spend and wonder if or where I should put them. In the end it`s me that have to decide if to spend the money, but interested in any experiences. I could finish the electronics by adding an XPSDR or aim for a demo pair of Sopra 2. I don`t want to do both, at least not now. If I choose the Sopra way, will the lack of the XPSDR get through? If I go XPSDR, will the Aria justify the electronics? I assume...

Apart from purist philosophical concerns is there any reason why a NAC152XS cannot be used with a serviced original Flatcap?

Hi all, I've been the happy owner of 2 pairs of Leema's little Xero mini monitors (and I know some on this forum use them too or owned them). The fact is that I've happily lived with them for 4 years, a pair being powered by 2 emotiva powerhouses (XPA1 to name them, 500 watts each, and real watts) along with matching Preamp and CDP. I've spent the afternoon setting up my SME IV on the gyrodec, and fitting a dynavector 10x5 cartridge. The manual is good and all the steps have been followed correctly as far as I can see, but I am having trouble setting the longitudinal balance and the tracking weight. The manual says this should be done with the arm clear of the turntable and the arm rest - which seems almost impossible as there is virtually no clearance from the arm rest wherever I put the arm. Hi all, Just picked up a 3.5 that was working perfectly prior to shipping (all transit bolts in place) It;s not reading discs since it was shipped, the player looks like new & the guy has an excellent reputation, certainly no problem there. If i place in a disc (clamped) it is silent, there is no scanning of the disc, if i press play, ERR shows, it's dead. Is there something that may have moved, during a jolt for example, something i could fix, easily (i'm no techie) before posting it...

Hi Age-old problem, upgraditis, in part spurred on by imminent Naim price rise. I currently have NDS, 555PS DR, NAP300 DR, NAC282, HiCap DR, Shahinian Super Elfs, using NAC A5 speaker cable, standard Naim interconnects, on Isoblue stand. Most items are less than 3 years old, (300 bought this year in July). I just bought an Auralic Altair which can has a built in pre-amp in addition to being a streamer and a DAC the plan is to connect this straight into a 250Dr which I plan to purchase. the Autralic, has the following two analogue outputs: 1) Balanced XLR - 4Vrms at 0dBFS, impedance 10ohm 2) RCA - 2Vrms at 0dBFS, impedance 50ohm So the question I have is whether i should use the XLR output or RCA? Hi Currently running my LP12 with a Urika connected via Linn-supplied RCA-RCA cables (using RCA Aux2 input). I'm thinking about upgrading those, as part of an upcoming LP12 upgrade (changing a sub-chassis and an arm). Any experiences, suggestions? Dear all, A query to a rather technical issue: In the NAIM DIN sockets (or any DIN connection), is the signal ground identical to the “ shielding earth ” ? or with other words: are the two earth /ground points connected within the respective NAIM units ? Which would means there is no need to solder the signal ground pin AND the shield in a plug, as they are already common ? Thanks & best regards Urs

I play Steely Dan's Aja on my CDX 2 (powered from mains, into a Supernait 2). It sounds great. Then I play the same album off my Mac PowerBook (using Audirvana) through a DAC V1 into the Supernait 2. It sounds noticeably different. Not necessarily better/worse, just different (soundstage sounds wider off CD, to my ears). The audio file is an AIFF rip off the CD, which should, in theory, be an exact copy of the CD. So, why the difference? Are the DAC's in the two units THAT different? Just...
