I have friend who has been using an SBL active system for many years comprising a CDS, 82/Supercap/ Hicap/Snaxo/ 2 x Nap 180's into SBLs. He loves the system but has moved house, and added children to their family life, both of which suggest to him...
I managed to blow the antisurge fuse on my 250 tonight as I was swapping some cables about. I've been round all my local DIY shops and none of them knew what an antisurge fuse was, never mind stocked them. Any suggestions where I might get one? Do I...
Anyone have this problem before? Upon closing the lid or pressing 'play', the disc won't spin and the display shows 'Err'. Disc is not slipping, and I don't believe the puck is bad (I tried a new one). The disc will sometimes give a fitful jerk or...
Hi AllI think I'm about to catch the upgrade bug and I need some help/advice.Over the last couple of years I've moved from a non-descript system to a modest entry-point Naim one. At present it consists of a CD3.5 cd player (2000), NAC 92 pre amp...

Why the more music I buy the less important having a fancy hi-fi seems to be and the less actual difference it seems to make to my enjoyment.Shouldn't it be the other way around?Matthew
This is an interesting one - certainly an expected development given the state of digital audio and the PC industry. Has anyone had the opportunity to hear the Linn Knekt Kivor (HD-based digital audio)? I am curious what the forum's take is on this...
I guess that some would say that the system that I just listened to :CDS3/200/202/hicap/Intro2Is a MULLET, but folks, I was more than a little surprised at how much sense it made musically, especially given my rather lofty standards. I came away well...

Having read numerous posts lately about skipping cd players I notice that there seem to be two "fixes" for this condition, depending on how old/worn the transport/puck system is.Either:A) Replace the puck or B) Replace the transport. Now that my cd 3.5...
Noticed that the recent newsletter said that cosmetic upgrades will be available soon so that olive boxes can be updated with the new style. However, good as this may be, is it going to be possible to upgrade the internal bits, too. For example, 52 to...
OK,so I lead a dull uninteresting life apart from my stereo... lolI was sat listening to it today, and then realised I'd not stuck the bottoms of the picture's on the walls to the walls with blu-tac. I read about this whilst in my old house, and it...
Saw this on Ebay and wanted to get your comments. Ebay AdvertThere's been a lot of threads recently, especially from Tom Alves, on the quality of Nonsuch speakers but wondered how financially stable the company were if resorting to this kind of...
I posted this message to the Mods in the PIC upgrade thread but it didn't attract a response there, so I thought I'd try again, just in case any of them are awake. Why not set up a separate room (read only) where you guys can post details of available...
Dear All, I noticed comments in the Copy Protection thread [from shetland pony???] about the CDS3 and CDX2 not playing CDRs that the older machines could play, plus some other comment about the new players only playing CDRs authored on domestic audio burners [as opposed to PC based ones]. I currently have a CDX and have no problem whatsoever with computer burned CDRs [which is just as well given a large proportion of my listening is in this format, no not rip off CDs but grateful dead shows...

I've been looking for a S/H CDP for a while now, and I'm almost ready to buy the above combination, but before I take the plunge and hand over the readies, I need to know from people who have tried the 3.5 with a flatcap and hicap, is the flatcap a...
The transformers in my Naim power amps and power supplies emit an annoying amount of humm.I have understood that this may, at least in part, be caused by computers, fridges etc polluting the mains. Rather than filtering the mains for the Naim system I...
