Hi,I just updated JYK's Profile Page (included in the A.C.A. pages). Click http://aca.gr/pop_jyk.htm or the picture below, to go there... Some may agree, some may disagree with this digital - horns match, but nobody can deny that this is an impressive...

I was just browsing through the spring newsletter and noticed 1) the venerable NAP 250 has had some significant design changes, 2) cosmetic updates will be available for some older gear to make them visually compatible with the new reference series...

I am planning on borrowing a pair of 135s from my dealer to try with my active sbls (with existing 2 x 250). IIRC the 135s should be connected to the tweeters. Comments regarding this from anyone who has gone this route would be appreciated. (Also any...

How much should a second hand 140 cost?
gavreidPosted: 15 August 2003Last Updated: 16 August 2003
I had my electricity meter replaced by the company yesterday and what a shock I was in for. After an hour or so to warm up again my system [cd5, fcII, 32.5, Hi, 250] was dramatically improved more musical and deeper more tuneful bass. The improvement was at least as big as the 10mm^2 separate spurs. The 'new' meter was a 15 year old unit replacing an even older one. Does anyone have a similar experience? Could it simply be remaking the 100A electrical contacts on clean copper at the meter...

Hello all, yes, I love the volume control of my Nait 5.With serious listening I put the knob somewhere between 10 o'clock and 12 o'clock. And when the Nait 5 amplifies background noise then the knob is around 8 o'clock. Thus a wide control range,...

Hi. Big blackout in NYC and major East Coast cities in US. Power just came back on where I work, but still is out where I live. After checking that my family is fine, my thoughts have turned to my Naim stereo equipment (is this normal?). OK, here's...

What happens when you hit the Mono button on a Pre ? Does the pre average the channels and if so, isn't this likely to cause audio 'funnies' to happen - bits of information getting canceled etc./dl

As you all know, certain cd players have a volume control built in, enabling (at least in theory) an ultra-simple two-component system wherein the cd player feeds the amp directly.I understand that for most (maybe all) applications, component...

Paul, Doug,Now that we are on Version 3 of the Naim Forum, can I be awkward and remind you that when version 2 was introduced, there was discussion over the loss of the wealth of valuable information from the original forum, including many gems from...

Not having any idea about Mana stuff, I thought it a good idea to check it out, as anything would be better than the rack my stuff is on. But what do I need? I haven't even seen this stuff so haven't a clue, but there is a lot of it about on the used...

A Quandry has presented itself. After upgrading my NAIT 3r with a Flatcap to the pre-amp stage, I am now wandering if the Bi-Amping route is the next logical step. At the moment I am considering getting hold of a second hand NAP 90/3 sourcing it from...

Hi,I have a system which comprises a Rotel CDP, 32.5/110 and AE1s (all on Hutter). I'd like to improve it a bit. Most people agree that a 140's better than a 110 (although I see it more as a presentation thing), but can either drive a pair of AE1s...

I was wondering if anyone has tried these, and what the result had been. At present, I am using a Rega 2 sitting on a sheet of contiboard which is then spiked onto a heavy, floor standing record-storage cabinet. Floor is concrete.John D. Rodger
