It's a 1999 model and on average, it's used for about 3 hours per week. For the last two days it's playing up. Music goes quiet intermittently and then continues playing - kind of skipping. Visually, the lens looks clean. Plays okay for a few minutes...

Has anyone compared the new 200's to an olive series 250? Is it better or just different? Thanks.

I know this is an old chestnut, but I couldn't find any relevant threads.Just taken home on dem a CDS3/CDX2/XPS2 to trial vs my CDX/XPS, and thought I'd finally get round to this to maximise the 82's CD potential. Opened the case, the 2 boards are...

Just got a 112/150 combo and have to crank it up to 12 o'clock to get any volume out of it. I know the inputs are sensitivity configurable. But, every input is the exact same. It's not likely the previous owner configured every input way too low. So,...

In terms of suitable amplification, would a 180 be up to it?? I suspect a naim intergrated would drive them but how well? Scales are tipping violently towards the loudspeaker department, with the amp sailing high into the air! A risky balance? ratio...

Hi guys,I have just bought an NAC82. Now it came without the linking plugs (but with the napsc), but I still have a HiCap and an NAC102. The only thing that I a need is the plug that links the second HiCap (as I still have a HiCap and don't need that...

I have noticed that nearly all Naim users are LP12 evangelists. Is there a reason for this? I am an ex avid Linnie and I'm now again in the market for a turntable. I've listened to several of the more recent (less than 10 year old) developments in...

I am considering a speaker upgrade.I have a NAC 32-5 and NAP 140.I had in mind to demo the Harbeth Compact 7's and/or Harbeth HL Super 5's and was hoping someone might be able to advise if the NAP 140 would be able to power these two speakers without...

I just purchased a bunch of 50's jazz LPs. Visually they are NM but there is some surface noise that I would like to eliminate. I suspect it's the breaking down of the paper sleaves that has settled in the grooves. Sonically there doesn't seem to be...

My goldring 1022 has past it, I think a combination of age and over zelous use of fluid type cleaners on both records and stylus have gooped up the stylus assembly, the stylus itself and who knows, maybe the internals as well.I realy dont have enough...

I note that Linn speakers Kabers and Keilidh are now available for as little as £350 and £225 with stands respectively. What is the current feeling about matching them with Naim equipment (eg 72/140) passive or active.

Maybe there is an old thread to be directed to, but... I have heard the differences between different preamps, and they are not subtle. What i don't understand is why this is the case when the role of the [reamp is just to get the source signal to the power amp and add volume and balance controls. Besides the obvious things like multiple inputs, why does a 252 best a 112, and what accounts for the vastly different expense? Bruce

MuchachosI have been using mine for a few months now, every once in a while I will claen some fave vinyl - and no doubt about it, it gets the black stuff looking good, with a good deal of surface noise vanishing. Anti static properties are pretty...

Current system: 32-5/140/Hicap,Much modified MA352 speakers,CD3 & Systemdek TT/Linn Basik arm/Ortofon 540 MM cartridge. Sound from the CD3 is fantastic; turn up the volume control a tad and the sound really cranks up and sounds involving with plenty of bass and clarity. However turn up the volume control when playing vinyl and the sound doesn't really seem to get much louder and sounds rather constipated and lacking in bass! Could the boards in the 32-5 be bit tired? They're 322's which I...

Hi folks. Today I heard to date the best sound I have yet heard from a hifi - it was a full-monty Naim system on a Fraim, driving B&W 800 speakers. All I can say is that it was beyond any reasonable criticism and I am now looking at ways of remortgaging the cat, selling the car and pimping the wife. OK, so I'm exaggerating, but to anyone who dares to question the qualities of the new Naim kit, all I can say is that it was the first Naim kit to offer a better sound in all departments to my...
