In a previous post I said I don't do OMG moments - I just have great big smiles instead. I've read a few posts lately with OMG (particularly the 552 comments) and thought, 'oh yeah, right'. ... well I've just had 2 OMG moments with my 250DR (now well run in) playing from my UnitiServ :) I was reading some forum stuff on here with the system playing in the background (but still loudish) and I had to stop and just listen ... ... OMG, that is just incredible ... The music was Gershwin's...
It would appear the PowerLine Lite is now available although I'm surprised to see the conductors are 0.75mm which strikes me as somewhat light?
Dear Members, I have just bought a second hand NAP250 DR. I read a review somewhere stating that the new NAP250 DR does not make that loud thump at power on. My sample does however. What is your experience with the new DR amp? Thanks in advance. Julius
Hi, I'm about to pull the plug (no pun intended!) on a new Powerline (EU type) but I'm having second thoughts due to the announcement of the Powerline Lite. Is there any info about this new product? Do you think I should wait for it first before taking the plunge? Thanks
The buzz gets slightly louder on advancing the volume control to 100%. I've been experiencing this for 2 days now. Not changed anything for a while. Switched off DAC V1, and still hear buzzing. The DAC V1 and 250.2 were bought 2 years ago, the 82 and HC a little later but both were serviced. Any ideas re how to proceed will be greatly appreciated.
There wil be a brief service outage today for some critical updates. We apologise for the short notice.
I just passed the 200 hour ‘burn in’ period with my Chord Music din-din, connecting my NDS to my 552. I started a few years back with a Hi-Line then moved to a Super Lumia last year bringing, as you’d expect, a big improvement in overall sound quality. But then, early this year, I tried out a Chord Sarum Super Array and kept it. The sound stage opened wide (we’re not talking Grand Canyon wide, just wider than I’d heard before). And the detail that came through was even greater than I’d heard...
Hi all, I would like to check the input for Superline. Since Superline have 2 inputs(RCA & BNC), possible for me to connect 2 turntable into each input? Of course we can't play both at the same time because it got no selector for input 1 & 2, but if I connect both, will it spoil the Superline? Thank you.
I have a well damped room, 6 meters (19 feet 8 7 ⁄ 32 inches) deep and 5 meters (16 feet 4 27 ⁄ 32 inches) wide with an 2,5 meters wide opening to my kitchen at the rear. The kitchen is about 3 meters deep. There is no noticeable flutter echo. My system consists of a Naim Supernait 2 + HiCapDR, NDX-Network player + Linn LP12/Lingo Dynavector DV10X5 driving my Dynaudio Confidende C2 speakers through Chord Company Signature cables. My streamer amp interlink is Kimber Hero (0,5m) and my phono...
Hi friends, On comparing the fully serviced 52/52PS with a serviced 32.5 HiCap, I have to admit that the 32.5 sounds stunning. The frequencies blend together so well with a slightly softer more natural treble. While the 52 has more bass and depth, the 32.5 has the sweetest midrange and treble you could ever wish for. Very tubelike. Is the 32.5 just the perfect recipe? SBL/250CB/NACA5
I am planning to use a single run of SL to connect to a PMC Twenty C centre speaker which has twin binding posts I already have SL speaker cables for fronts & pre-power and NAC A5 for the rears What options do I have for connecting the speaker end given the twin binding posts? Do I keep the supplied flat metal links or change them for something superior, for example pins of some sort or another (any recommendations?) There are of course jumper cables from elsewhere but unless they are...
Has anyone ever heard of any issues regarding a XPS power supply making a cdx2 skip? My cdx2 starts to skip occasionally after a few hours of playing and heard this could be the puck which I have replaced or the XPS... Had an hour or so without the power supply connected and so far no skip....
I am on the verge of trading in my NaitXS2 for a Supernait2. My source is the CD5XS with a Chord 2Qute DAC. I have a FlatcapXS2 and my question really is should I keep it as the FC might not add a great deal to the SN2. Trading in the FC would give me a bit more cash to either upgrade the 2Qute to a Hugo TT, or a HCap. I have no desire to stream music. Thanks for any advice.
I purchased a used Naim system last week. Everything works great except for the CD5. Looks like it was dropped or hit. Does it look salvageable? Have yet to remover the cover and take a look. Should I even try? https://www.flickr.com/photos/66065796@N00/shares/is8453
Is anyone planning to go to this new show at the Novotel London West hotel? Typing "The Indulgence Show" into your favourite search engine should bring up the details. I understand that Naim will be in the Alsace Room on the Mezzanine. I will be going but haven't decided on whether to go on the Saturday or the Sunday.
I am moving to a new home and I am trying to decide where to place my system. I have a NDS,555DR,552DR,300DR,powering S 600's. All on Fraim. i have always placed my Fraim to the side of the listening room with nothing between the speakers. In the new space the electrical outlet and ethernet connection happen to be between the speakers. Not ideal. the wall is 16 ft. It would look cleaner to place the equipment between the speakers so i would not have ethernet, speaker cables and power cables...
I want to buy a denon 103 cartridge (mc) for my technics 1710. naim atom (2017) pmc twenty5.23 (2017) Will the following phonostages work good? NAD PP4, NAD PP2E, Cambridge 651P, Cambridge CP2. for now i do not chose the stage line (i am running out my budget already) wiwa
Hello, I bought a Naim Unitilite 3 years ago and the display light became very weak so that it is almost impossible to read the display. Do somebody also have this problem, what can I do? Thanks.
I have traditionally spent most of my time on here in the HiFi Corner as I strive to achieve the best sound I can afford. And it has been a wonderfully informative experience, learning from those that have already trodden the paths I have contemplated with regards to system building and upgrading. I have avoided the pitfalls and have ended up with a system that is truly wonderful and conveys all that emotional connection to artists and musicians and the emotions they seek to convey to us...
I understand this has been discussed before, and yet the topic was closed. For that reason, I am restarting this discussion on Nat 05 Tuner. I recently bought a used Nat 05 Tuner, and I have been extremely happy about it because it has exceeded my expectation big time. I never thought radio can sound this good. That said, I am curious to know how much better the Nat 05 XS is. It's always not possible to accurately quantify outperformance given hardware combination variations, but can someone...
Has anyone ever compared the LFD amps to Naim. After listening to one today I was astounded at the level of clarity that this brand has to offer. It certainly beats my Naim Nait XS2.
Given SC (non DR) prices have come down a lot, would it be a good idea for SN2 to add SC (non DR) ? Anyonr using this combo or tried it can comment? Thanks in advance.
Hello all, I'm getting closer to analytical retirement I think with my system. I've replaced my 2Qute/TP PSU with a Hugo and it's made a huge difference in terms of naturalness/ease of listen. I've also replaced my iMac/Audirvana with an Innuos Zenith. Which has made a big improvement. Although the more congested sound of the iMac had a better bass trail/bump. Beyond that Supernait2 and other candidates only made the sound bigger/more powerful. Had little effect on naturalness. So I am...
For the past 6 years, I have left all my Naim amps permanently on all the time. As I currently run two power amps (NAP 200 and NAP 250 DR), I am thinking if it is necessary to leave these amps permanently on. I am aware that the preamp will need to be powered up all the time to sound good as the system will be off for at least two to three days if the preamp is switched on from cold. For this reason, I believe the Hicap or Supercap will need to be permanently on. Nevertheless, I believe I...
So many members seem to use UK speakers, do many of you use speakers from elsewhere?
