Hi-Fi Corner
Hi,I have recently purchased a 2nd S/H Hicap for my 82, one of the best thing I have ever done. Improvement is really impressive, the systemnow reproduced music with coherence. So my system is now:CDS2/XPS/82/2*HiCap/180/KEF LS3.5AThorens...
Anyone know what happened to higgy since Christmas? After 100 or so posts in 2 months up to the festive period there's been nothing since.I'm missing the breathless, phonetically written paragraphs on 72s 140s and ES11s.Hope he didn't get another...
All the reports that I hear are very favourable even compared to the Cremonas. Has anyone heard them?CDSII, 52, 135's and SF Electa Amator II's
I recentlty spent the evening moving around all my Naim boxes so that the power amps and supplies were located on a separate rack and to the right of the CDS2, 52 and Snaxo. This improved matters no end and made for much easier cable dressing....
I have a fully upgraded Mid eighties Linn (circus ,Lingo etc)it has the old style plinth which I belive is thinner and less rigid than the new ones and also has the sagging top plate.Anyone "upgraded" from these and is it worth the effort?Bear in mind...
I notice the NAIM power supplies will allow the connection of three power amplifiers to the audio output. I can understand allocating the opportunity for one NAP-250 or two NAP-135s but this allows for all the above.Does this have a detrimental effect...
Since I have to get my non-performing LP12 turntable checked out I thought I might change the existing walnut plinth to either Maple or Piano Black (like the 25th Anniversary version).Just wondered if any forum members had had bad experiences with...
I went to test the B&W 805 Signature model at a local dealer with the Mark Levinson mono-blocks (ML pre-amp 308S and Classe CD player) and the result was disappointing. However, they have the Wilson Audio speakers in the room and I asked the saleman...
Chaps,Anybody heard of an Californian company called Digital System/Design. The logo looks like this "ds/d"I've just acquired a DAC of theirs, a Decode-1, and I'm trying to get some gen and contemporary opinions of it.It cost nearly £500 as an...
I really need help deciding which amp to get. The MG HEAD OTL or Naim Headline. I have all Naim gear currently. My headphones are Senn HD580's. They both cost me the same.
Hi there, wondering if I get a Flash II when ordering a NAC 252. Reto CDX-XPS, NAC102, NAPSC, Hi-Cap, NAP 250, Naim Fraim, Chord Odysee 4, ProAc Response 2.5 [This message was edited by Reto from Switzerland on MONDAY 20 January 2003 at 12:51.]
First trip for the Riders in 2003 was back on home territory, with a visit to Mr Alves to catch up with how his sistem is sounding since upgrading from passive 180 to active 250s driving his SBLs. For those who didn’t catch the earlier report...
Problem ...On my 72 Pre-Amp the volume control was all loose. So I took the rubber cover and plastic cap off to tighten up the little screw. So far so good. Now when I put the plastic cover and rubber surround back on its all loose. The rubber outer...
quick question before i go to work. What order should i put my cd, pre ,power, hi caps (when i get some),tape and tuner on my hi-fi rack to help avoid interference?
I have 323 MC boards in a NAC62. Does anybody know if they can be modified to work with a MM cartridge.Fatcat
Follow up questions after Mark's ball and nut supported "isoplats". What is the aim here? Are the supports to be heavy to avoid moving but storing energy or very light which move but don't store energy?Every time the question of rack/shelves etc come...
Have found a an older LP12 (mid 80's) I think still sealed in the factory box that has sat in the back of a shop for 20 odd years. What is this worth in todays market? Advice needed.ThanksNumber 5
I connected my newly aquired nap140 to the mains and to the speakers but it's not yet connected to a pre amp until I get a SNAIC. It's buzzing quite loudly through my speakers. Is this normal? It's about 10 years old so would a service sort this out???
Hi AllWould it be OK to connect a Nap 250 to the mains without it being connected to the system. I would like to check that it is working ie. light coming on etc. or could this damage it. It was delivered this morning and has been in transit via...
The following hi-fi terms may now be added to the description of the NAC 252: air, space, soundstage, texture, hyper dynamics, depth, and Quad like. While I hate all of these terms I was not prepared for the sound of the new preamp. It is like no...
Konbanwa,Back from Japan. Without going into particulars (yet) I find myself wondering if in fact one can have too much information coming down the pipe. That is to say, can a source be TOO good for a given amp/speaker combo? Is this the anti-mullet?...
Thanks to everybody who participated in the great 100,000th Hi-Fi Corner Post "Sweepstake".After a lengthy Stewards enquiry, necessary due to a complete lack of rules and some distinctly underhand tactics , it was decided that the prize should be...
Hi forum members.I had put aside some money for a new cdplayer as I thought mine had a broken laser. However it turned out that it was not broken, the mechanism only needed some cleaning and an adjustment. So here I am with some hard earned cash that...
I'm a relative Naim newbie. I've had a cd3.5 with flat cap (helps alot to soften the sound), a Nait 3 amp and a pair of B&W CDM1SE's. I've been following this forum immensely in the past weeks to get a feel for the Intro and Credo speakers. I finally found a cheap pair of Intros (later version with external crossovers) as that's all my budget can handle right now. I can't quite believe it. My £650 B&W's never really stopped winning awards from What Hi-Fi but it would appear to me that...
Have been using Naim gear for the last five years and have decided to upgrade the speakers--Monitor14's (floorstanding, sealed)--driven by CDS/XPS/32.5/Hi-Cap/250. I'm demoing a pair of SBL's (set up by dealer in my house) and a pair of Neat Elites...
