I have a...Naim Uniti with latest board,Spendor A6s, NACA 5 & recent upgrade from a Nap 150 x to an ex Naim employee Olive 250 with a 250.2 case... Sounds simply sublime;weighty, detailed and very easy on the ear...however whilst I recognise the source first argument such a statement is currently questioned (perhaps/surely/perversly?) by the fact that Naim developed the Statement rather than a source? So we currently have the principle Naim amplification costing a significant factor more...
I have a nap 150x at the moment and am wondering if the nap200 is just a louder power amp or is there any difference in audio quality..I have a nac 112x and BW 1800 Speakers running 4 m a side nac a5...The sound is lovely detailed and sound hangs nicely..Both pre and power were serviced recently by naim..Dont want to change the pre amp as I listen to digital media via computer and it oes a great job..Just wondered what thoughts may be as the peakers can handle amps of up to 200w output

Recently pulled my Aro from storage after a move and found the anti-skate weight had slipped off the thread line. Looked on underside of weight and it appears threaded. Is there a small screw which holds weight in place on thread?
Hi All Can someone give me some advice, I have CD5xs and NDAC, I have a Hilink for my DAC to a NAC 202 and a DIGI - coupler 75 ohm from Van Den Hul from my CD to my DAC other than Naim's own can any one recommend a better DIGI cable. I use all Naim connectors except main lead I used Beldon and Chord Epic cables to my Neat speakers. My system is:- CD 5 XS, Flatcap XS (not needed I know, hoping to get power supply for DAC soon) NDAC NAC 202 NAP 200 Hicap olive Appreciate any advice Davie
This combination plays surprisingly joyful for me right now, while I type these lines. I moved into a new flat some weeks ago with a slightly bigger living room (25 square meter now) and the sound felt thinner as before, no real surprise. As the Nait XS is the weakest part of my system I decided to look into possible upgrades. From my dealer I have a 272+200DR on loan at home and listen to the different combinations now - a really joyful part of the upgrade journey. I had really high...
Returned home after a few days away and had the Qute switched off at the mains for that time. Now upon start up it gets to the 'initialising' stage and then the machine restarts several times. I've tried switching it on and off a few times at the mains, this worked once, although I then had to re-enter the network password. A factory reset has not fixed the problem. I have reluctantly left it switched on in the meantime while I hopefully get some help on here. The temperature is as normal.
When I compared the transformers of two olive Hicaps I noticed they were both Holden Fishers but one was slightly larger, making the unit heavier than the other? Why the difference and does it matter?
Picked up a nice pair of these bloody hell there good for the price a absolute bargain a kan beater ?
Some argue that the cartridge is the least important component of the trio: turntable, arm, cartridge. There is something about it. Experiment in my home with a friend who brought a relatively simple turntable with a relatively expensive cartridge, my good turntable (LP-12) won with a relatively inexpensive cartridge. Apparently this experience, plus a hearty amount of like-minded friends from around the net led to the absurd/outrageous situation which the temporary cartridge (cheap) I was...
Had planned on listening to a little music this evening and selected a nice Sheryl Crow album which strangely refused to play. Upon checking I discover that the lights on my beloved Hugo are not lighting up properly, or at all wihtout the charger connected, and it would appear to be dead! I'm ever so slightly gutted, even though I can still play vinyl and have access to my tuner I do love my digital system and the Hugo. I'll contact my dealer tomorrow and see if Chord can have a look at it...
Back in February I started a thread 'WHAT'S MY NEXT MOVE FROM A 52/500 SET UP?' to ask if there were any worthwhile changes advisable to improve my system. I think I knew at the time that the only truly substantial answer was to change 52 for a 552, but at just under £20k new and with me now semi-retired, I didn't think it was likely to be a financially viable option. The forums' collective wisdom ( I thank/blame you all !) informed me that 552's could occasionally be found for less and I...
Reading the thread about source first made me consider my own source-heavy system. Currently the 250.2 feeds into Keilidhs and they sound better than ever firing down a room roughly 27' by 14'. But if I want to up the quality of the final stage, what should I be auditioning? I do like my bass to go deep ! I know that some of you will go on about rooms, price range and auditioning (in Valhalla the options are limitless), but I need to start somewhere and create an audition wish list. So,...
Is it possible to add the NAP 200 to the NAC 282 / Hicap DR / NAPSC / NAP 250 DR ? Is there a diagram on the connections if biamping is possible? If it is possible, I would like the NAP 200 to drive the treble (top speaker terminals) and the NAP 250 DR to drive the bass (bottom speaker terminals). Not too sure how the results would turn out. Any advice would be appreciated.
Best Sound (Cost No Object) Apex Audio ’s installation in the Bianca Peak room (pictured below) included Stillpoints Aperture panels arranged and set up by Bob Hodas. It featured the Focal Stella Utopia ($97,500/pr.), Naim Statement System ($270,000), one Naim UnitiServe SSD server ($4600), one Naim NDS Reference network player ($13,000), two Naim NAPS555-DR power supplies for NDS ($11,500/each), one Naim Fraim rack ($4700), one pair of Naim Super Lumina interconnects ($3600), one pair of...
I often read about the appeal of the older Nait 1, 2 or 3 which seemingly capture the energy and joie de vivre in music more than the current Naim integrateds (Nait 5is, XS, Supernait2 etc.). More recently, I read about the Nait 1 sounding close to the 552/500. For this reason, I have done a search on the Nait 1, 2 and 3 in an attempt to determine which unit sounds the "best". Apparently an old post in 2007 revealed that the Nait 3R is "better" than the rest of the Naits. Now, few questions.
Hi. So, can I have one of these made in an apartment building? An electrician I asked said that there's no point in building a dedicated spur, since usually in apartments the electricity uses 2 wires that come into the apartment (instead of 3) - he also had names for the type of network/grid or whatever, but I can't recall. So, is there a point of adding a separate mains spur into my flat? (can't put the wires in the wall) Or should I get a mains regenerator instead - or balanced regenerator...
I have a NAC 272 powered by a 555PS. The Burndy cable has a band on one end that has a S-XPS designation. The dealer installed it with the band end into the 555PS. Is that correct?
Hi guys, I'm stil happy with my Unitiqute1, but... yesterday i stumbled over an ad from a Dutch Naim dealer, who's offering a mint 2015 demo-model UQ2, for a reasonable price. Hmm,...temptation, temptation... From a technical point of view I like the fact that, with the UQ2 I don't need my Sonos Connect to be able to use Spotify. (although I prefer the Sonos app over the Naim app) Sonically I'm wondering if the UQ2 is a significant upgrade over the UQ1. Any of you Naimees here who...
First of all, Hello! I'm new to the forum, so first post and all! Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere before - I did do a search, but couldn't find anything that specifically dealt with my questions. Having lived in the wilderness of MP3 delivered through my aging AV amp for years, I've recently decided to resurrect my old vinyl collection. I bought myself a Rega P3 (with the power supply upgrade), and am slowly putting together a Naim system as funds allow. I haven't yet heard my new...
Dear fellow naimees, for around three years, I was almost exclusively streaming. After upgrading from Uniti to NDS/555, I thought streaming is the top source. Meanwhile, I have also developed my LP12 from "very basic and 20 years old" to EkosSE/Kore/Lingo3 level, and I assumed vinyl was - to me - on par with streaming. I did not listen to a CD for at least 3 years, but a lot to ripped CDs, radio paradise and vinyl. But I kept missing my CD-collection. I had them stacked away in some old...
Considering preloved Naim equipment availability is much higher in the UK etc, has anyone bought 230 volt gear and converted to 120? Shopping for preowned NDX or Superuniti and everything for sale in US is way more expensive. Thanks.
Hola muchachos Are they solid or do they have a rubber / etc bottom?
Hello I have NAC 122x, flatcap 2x, NAP 150x, Neat Elite SE speakers. All purchased from Naim dealer 2008. Sources are CD5x and Rega P8/Aria. ND5Xs is ordered. I want to build same system for my second house. I recently purchased a second hand, 2008 vintage, NAP 150x. It is the same as my original. I am searching for the remaining components for the second system now. I am patient so this will take time. I have never had big desire to upgrade . I like to have a buy well and enjoy. But now I...
Hi all, Just to confirm some ideas now that I´ve upgraded my amplification from a 150x to a supercap and a pair of 135, and the pre´s are beeing tested to take a decision. From what I´ve read and from some sugestions on my other post a NDX is a-must-have when you are in streaming, but on the many post that I´ve seen during these weeks I´ve found that the improvements goes something like this: NDX NDX+nDAC NDX+nDAC/XPS NDX/XPS+DAC/XPS Which means more 4 boxes to get the best of the NDX, is...
