I've seen a few CDS2 head units on Loot for sensible money. Thinking about buying one. What are the issues? I've only bought new or ex-demonstration from a dealer before. Advice gladly accepted, mulled over and acted on. I am assuming it will beat a...

Hi Guys, I am thinking of getting hold of a pair of Sennheiser HD-600 headphones. Now I know that conventional wisdom says Headline + Flatcap but this increases the cost quite a bit (even 2nd hand) and I would need to put the tape boards back into my...

Hi all. I am a Naim neophyte, and have only just dangled my toes in the Naim pool so far. I am considering a CD 3.5 as a replacement for my Rega Planet, to match up with my Nait 3 (Chord interconnect, NACA5). My concern is this:Can "the Naim sound" in...

I've just swapped from NACA4 to NACA5. I've looked through a bunch of related postings (yup, need to cut off the negative 'ears'). Still, I am fearing that I've not got it right, and despite the assurances of my dealer, I just want to double...

My system is Arcam Alpha 7SE cdp, Nait 5, Castle Isis speakers. Can spend around £600 each on new speakers and cd.Since putting the Nait in my system it has unbalanced it. Was using Alpha 6 amp, nice smooth sound but poor bass. The Nait improved...

I have quite a few old vinyl LP's that I fancy resurrecting from the attic.I know nothing about turntables, except the word LP12. I'm just about to buy a CDX (with a nait5 or possibly 112/150 amplification through B&W CM2's). How much would I have to spend and what would I have to get in order to match (or better) the sound of the CDX? you help would be much appreciated!

I thought, this would be a "no brainer"... but naim came up with a complete new line! After many moons I am on CDS2/XPS, 52/S'Cap, 250, DBL's, all naim cabling. The "no brainer" was of course in the poweramp section! As I wanted to go active with my...

Just been persuing the Hi Fi mags in Smiths and came across the above named article - looks like the Moth record cleaner, but apparantly retails for £40.Has anyone tried this? If it does what it says it will be one of the buys of the year.Mike

I have just moved to active and was wondering......why there is a power switch on the SNAXO when power is provided by a Hicap/Supercap which has its own power switch. Is the SNAXO power switch redundant or does it serve some higher purpose of which I...

Hi folks. Quick questions: can't seem to find 50A fuse-cartridge wire in B&Q - is this because I'd need a dedicated unit or is it just B&Q being B&Q? Second question: they have 10sq.mm, 6sq.mm and 2.5sq.mm power cable there. The 10 looks well solid, but would it be beneficial over (say) the 6sq.mm cable. Also, would the 2.5 be enough to reap benefits on a single spur- I have around 30m of it kicking around somewhere (I only need 8m from consumer unit to hifi :-) Last question: does anyone...

A number of the products in the new range have retained the names they had in the old range (e.g. HiCap, SuperCap, 250).Whilst it is good that honesty has prevailed, it does make it quite laborious to write comparisons of the new stuff e.g.:-202/(new)...
