I'm using nait 5i and cd5i with stock power cables ami best plugging them into a basic extension block or something like a russ Andrews power block
Hello all, my nap 150 is 12 years old and, according to "Naim rules", it needs (maybe) a servicing. Since it's possible to find s/h nap 155xs, what do you suggest, a nap 150x serviced or a nap155xs? putting aside the aesthetic valuation, what are the sonic differences? thank you in advance, regards David
hi there, looking at getting the Quadraspire SVT rack 4 shelves in all for my NDX>XPS DR>SN2>NAS (thinking of the 140mm poles for spacing on top 3 shelves and 216mm for the NAS on bottom) my query is when looking at the bronze spike upgrade kit, are you able to fit the silver mounting part through a shelf i.e. so would have a fifth shelf with the bronze spike that sat on top of the 4th rack shelf directly with no poles (seen some pics on the forum of this) - do i need anything extra...
Been using MM phono boards in my Nac 72, specifically 322 (issue 1), with a standard Heybrook TT2/RB300/DL110, been quite happy with the sound. Then got hold of an Origin Live silver mk 3a tonearm that came with a MC cart, an Ortofon Rondo red, and 323K boards - issue 4, mint condition boards. Obviously there's quite an upgrade using this new arm and cart, but I'm surprised at how much louder my little Nac is now with the new set up. You only have to turn the volume to 9 or 10 oclock for a...
Yesterday while listening to some music suddenly the sound has gone and source mute button began to 'blinking'. I looked it up to manual and it says 'link plug or power supply fault'. In the same time the preamp no longer respond to any remote handset command. (Volume, balance, changing source etc.) Neither I could change preamp functions by hand. It seems frozen. This is what I have done so far to isolate the problem: 1. Reboot all the boxes --> everything remained the same 2. Changed...
Hello, Please could I have some views as to a suitably good cable to connect a Cyrus CD XT Signature to a Nac 272? Am I better to connect to the RCA input on the 272 or via the BNC input? Any help much appreciated!
Good evening Naim friends. Things went pretty quick, sold my qute/nap100 combo.. Now looking for a Superuniti. Would there be any problems with importing a Superuniti from England to Holland ? No problems with voltages or something ? Guess you need another mains cable.. but thats no big deal. Enjoy your evening, thanks in advance for the replies. Arno
while i am waiting my new brundy cable i been given an extra one from my dealer that have been used with a NDS first i had a cable marked red / green which connected to my 272/555 but no sound! then next day i had a cable marked with 2 green lines which i did not succed to install anyone can help me with this?
So forum friends, which would be the better desktop system for mainly headphone listening; 1. A DAC-V1 fed through USB from a Mac Mini Server, using iTunes or Fidelia to manage the music or 2. A UnitiQute 2 streaming from a Synology NAS using MinimServer or Synology Media Player? Assume the headphones will be medium to high end. Look forward to your thoughts. KR, J
i often read the forum, but in this case i still have a lot of doubts. i am sorry and i am sorry also for my very basic english. I am going to get new speakers, from Kef LS50 to Kudos Super10. What do you think about a possibile upgrade from NAC 72+HC+NAP180 to SN2+HC? Is it a real upgrade? In this case i need to add a prephono. Or could be better an upgrade from ND5XS to NDX? I am a little confused so i hope in yours recommendations.
Hello dear Naimees, I am contemplating my future (hopefully soon enough) upgrade possibilities, and searching the forum and the Naim pricelist I've come up with the following options; appreciate your valued opinions as I have previously greatly benefited all along the way... 1- NAP 250 DR 2- NAC 282 3- XPS My current system consists of: NAS drive > NDX > SN2 > HCDR > S400 ( with Fraim, Hiline, NACA5) Please note that I am not in a financial position to fund two upgrades at once,...
Advice on speakers: Kef LS50? I currently have the UnitiQute 2 using it with the NAP 100 power amp. My current speakers, about 15 years old, are Monitor Audio Studio 20’s floor standers. Since moving, these speakers are not suited to a laminate style floor, being a boomy, and are a bit big for the room. I've listened to some Kef LS50 stand mounts as possible replacements. In the shop they sound great, but am I bonkers in thinking they can be really better than the old studio 20’s? Can the...
Hi all, I have just ordered a 272/250dr combo, will my QED GENESIS Silver Spiral cable be safe to use, or should I get some A5?
Hi, Received as a graduation gift: Linn Sondek LP12 Naim Audio SNAPS preamp power and Naim Audio NAC12s preamp Linn LK2 Power amp I'm adding these to my KEF Celeste IV Speakers. The LP12 is being run via a Pro-Ject PhonoBox II on the MC setting as appropriate to my cartridge. The problem is, even when volume is turned up to the highest setting, I am getting only a quiet sound through the speakers. Everything is powered on, I have tested the LP12 with a different amp with the phono stage so I...
i know they're big ! I have a through lounge with the hifi at one end, tv and stuff at the other the listening area is about 14 x 11, speakers firing across the 11ft side, this works well for the briks would dbls work in this space, the room extends another 16ft down the other end, the only speaker near a side wall would be 2 1/2 ft away rest of the system, full blown LP12 superline, 52/PS, 362, 6 x 135's, 2 x supercaps, chord sig ref & epic, briks on mana stands
Just checked the tracking force should be 1.8 but had crept up to 2.2 Worth checking regularly. Regards, Lindsay
Having recently acquired a NACD3, I'm told it will significantly benefit being paired with a Flatcap. Any thoughts?
Now that The Announcement has been made, I'd like to come back to a more mundane, far less exciting issue . I'm thinking of adding an XPS to the CDX2.2. I'm aware that my music collection won't be re-imagined, I would just like the top end to sound a bit more mellow perhaps - as someone on the forum said, the bare CDX2 can sound a bit "in-yer-face". I can find S/H non-DR XPSs easily, at reasonable prices, but it's a very different picture as far as XPS-DRs are concerned - they are few and...
Hi. I asked on another forum as well, but I figured I also better ask here to make sure: Can I connect active monitors, such as Yamaha or Mackie studio monitors, to the NAC 202? I was told that I could do that if I buy a cable that has two XLR or jack connections in one end and one 4 pin DIN connection in the other end. And then I should plug the DIN end into the "standard" connection on the back of the NAC 202 (where now the NAP 200 is connected). Do you guys agree this should work?
finally i pull the triger for a 555ps with an extra powerline/burndy/ a fraim shelf with a little support from falling pound. 555 was in the stock so i just plug it with an israeli burndy At the moment because rest of the stuff will arrive later could not connect powerline also because i am using american type plugs so my dealer will arrange american type powerlines in few weeks. 272/300DR sounds all different with 555PS it is huge difference vs TPXS/bare 272 I have bass!!! biko by peter...
Today I will pick up my NAP 300 to partner my NAC N-272. I'm just not sure for the interconnection. I guess the two analoge outputs on the NAC got to the NAP, but which is left and right?
After the news of the new Uniti products, somebody posted a comment on of the Forums about obsolescence, and their recently acquired NAIM kit. The reply was something along the lines of "... This is Evolution, Baby ". Whilst I completely get the evolution thing, particularly where digital technology is concerned, it did set me thinking about my future purchasing strategy. Nobody likes products to be made obsolete. I have come to the conclusion that as far as possible, future buying decisions...
Hi I've got a supercap 2 can anyone tell me please when it is due a service please its a 2002.
Just been reading a review of the new floor standing Quad Z-3s in HiFi Choice. Bottom line is these (so they say) are probably the best speakers money can buy in this price bracket (c. £2500). I was wondering if anyone had a chance to listen to them yet?
