Hi all, I’ve recently start looking at the Naim brand, and went to libraries to read periodic hi-fi magazines in regarding to olive series NAC and NAP amps. However, I’m still confused about the hierarchy and pecking order for the olive series, can someone confirm with me please? NAC 32-5 top model before NAC 52 NAC 52 top model NAC 82 seems to be the 2nd from the top Not sure about the following, please inform me NAC 102 NAC 72 NAC 62 NAP 135 top model NAP 250 2nd from the top Not sure...

I've just spent the afternoon stripping down and rebuilding the entire system, including the Fraim. Now I don't know whether it's simply relief at, having put everything back together again, I still have music at all, or whether sitting here somewhat knackered, I'm just pleased that the marathon task is finally completed, but it sounds brilliant! No way of knowing what particular aspect the re-build contributes most to this happy outcome, but I can thoroughly recommend this course of action...

While I Was listening at low volume, I touched the remote (with Was upside down ) I lost the sound. Setup: REGA Saturn. Nap 155sx. Nac 112x, Flat cap DAC classic. I tryed to reinitiate the remote settings. ...NADA. I've tryed everything so far: -another préamp (202) - another CD player - other type of connection (Toslink instead of RCA TO DIN) Any suggestions ? Desperate

Hi all Having been a long time digital stalwart I was intrigued to hear a friend's turntable v his uniti and was hugely impressed with the richness of the sound v the streaming comparative. This got me thinking whether a return to vinyl was actually the way to go; not just for the sound quality but also the listening experience. I've subsequently had the chance to listen to an RP10 with Aphelion cartridge with largely the same system as my own and found the sound to be pretty fantastic.

I have a SU with a Naim Power-line and the connection is VERY loose. Now the manual says "The metal body of the IEC connector is able to move a little when the Power-line has been inserted into a mains input socket. This is intentional." However, it is loose enough that a slight touch dislodges it such that the electrical connection is also broken. I cannot believe this is intentional. The socket itself is somewhat loose (I believe this is the intentional part) in its housing in the SU, but...

I am looking at an N172XS to replace my UQ2 now that I have added the 155XS to the UQ2, but the one that I am looking at does not have the FM Tuner - is this something that can be added later by someone like A/V Options?

Good Morning, Some of you guys are aware of my quest to make a vinyl system. so the latest is the Uniti 2 has gone and I am the proud owner of the following 32.5/Hicap/140. I have some question if you guys don't mind answering: 1, What is the switch on/off process of the system? 2, When switching off should I get a clip from the speakers? 3, The power knob is slightly loose on my 140, what would the fix be? 4, This really should be question 1, the phono/RCA leads on the my RP6 does not fit...

I would be interested from those who own ATC SCM 40 or 40A (self-powered) loudspeakers to know how they sound at different volume levels. Nearest dealer to me is about 100 km away and I have not heard these loudspeakers. I generally listen to lowish levels (less than 80 dBA) to piano, chamber, opera, and when the pipe organ CDs come out, the volume control goes to 11.... Currently have Harbeth Monitor 30.1 loudspeakers. These sound relatively consistent and low to higher volume levels. One...

Greetings - My few months old 272DR has suddenly started popping who changing volume or selected input (including unused inputs). I did a forum search and found a thread called 'Another new 272 popping?' that didn't seem to relate to my situation although it did refer to another thread on the same topic that I was unable to find. Our 272DR enjoys an XPSDR and drives a 250DR. Inputs are WiFi connected except for the Humax TV satellite receiver which is optical. Curiously the same popping can...

It seems to have become common practice with equipment racks to have the rack shelf, then an additional shelf/board on top of it, on point contacts (domes etc), with the equipment sitting on that, while the equipment commonly has some form of elastomeric feet of its own. Can anyone explain the logic of the extra board, and how it supposedly improves sound quality? I ask because it seems to me that the extra board will create an additional 'sounding board' that will be excited by incident...

I have been told that my 250 Poweramp Capacitors can only store a limited amount of energy and then need time to recharge- comparable to a hot water tank. Is this true? Does this mean that I can listen at high volume only for a limited time before the sound deteriorates? I like my music loud so I am concerned. Thanks

All my Naim units are contained in a hifi cabinet with my Gyrodec on top of the unit. I'd like to separate the Gyrodec by using a wall shelf, which would have the added advantage of allowing a bit more space around the NDX and 282. Fraim units would allow this but are not practical in my circumstances, and having researched the wall shelf units available the Quadraspire SVT seems to have the right balance of looks sound quality and looks that will fit in with the room. However, I cannot find...

Can anyone shed light on what is happening with this technology. A year ago it seemed that it was set to shake the world; not much since?

Hi All, I understand that this topic may have been discussed previously for new 300DR's so bear with me. I've recently just had my 1.5 year old 300 upgraded to DR spec at the factory. I only sent in the head unit as it wasn't necessary to do a recap on the 300PS due to it's relatively young age. During the absence of my 300, my dealer loaned me a 250.2 which was good enough to tide me over but of course not as good as a 300. Just last Wednesday, I finally received my upgraded 300DR after a 2...

Have not asked what the cost difference in cost would be between the DR upgrade on my 300 compared to trading in the non-upgraded 300 against a new 500DR, but probably worth thinking about. Any thoughts?

Hello All, Loving my DAC-V1 and thinking about some good headphones to partner - Am thinking of either the Sennheiser HD650 or Grado SR325e - something in that price range and nothing fancier needed. Anyone have any experience using headphones on the DAC-V1 and can kindly recommend? Also, are there technical areas that I should look into with respect to matching the headphone with the DAC-V1 with regards to frequency response etc.? Thanks in advance! Cheers, Vin.

Hi Seeking advice regarding room treatment. I have a low frequency bump around 45hz in my listening room that I'd like to reduce at least 6db. Room size is 4.03m x 3.76m. Does anyone know of any product that would be effective? I've ruled out any eq processing as for me it kills the sound quality. If I were to step down speaker size from scm40a (Frequency Response (-6dB): 48Hz-22kHz) to scm19a (Frequency Response (-6dB): 54Hz-22kHz) would this help? Any advice appreciated.

Hi all, I am new to Naim. I am looking for an Amp and Pre that match well with my Sopra No. 2. I have been checking the reviews and it looks that a combination of 282/300DR would work well. Also intrigued with the 272/300DR since I do a lot of streaming from Tidal. I am currently using an AVM SA 3.2 (Amp) with and Marantz 8802 processor. I welcome your suggestions for a new system. Thanks in advance,

I am starting the gruelling task of upgrading my speakers and am initially drawn to Focal Sopras based on all the good press they have received and what others have said on here about them. Ideally I would like to try the No.2s (surely they could have come up with a better name but I suppose there are no such toilet double entendres in French) but these may be too much for a modestly sized living room and are at the upper end of my budget, so I am also considering No.1s. I briefly heard...

First post in these forums, hello all! I have a Roksan Kandy K3 amp, Dynaudio Audience 40 speakers on good stands and a Cambridge Audio 640C MkII Cdp as my main source. The latter is the weak link in my system and therefore I'm looking for a new cd player in the £800-1300 price range. Streaming is not on the agenda. I heard a Naim cdp in a dealer several years ago which sounded fantastic. I have no idea which model it was, however. Would the Cd5si be well suited to my amp/spkrs,or should I...

Hi everyone. My current system is ;CD5i / 122x / Flatcap2x / 150x and Wilson Benesch Arcs. I do not stream and have no time or inclination to rip my large cd collection which is mostly but not exclusively jazz. By and large I am happy with the sound but am able to fund a modest upgrade ( £2-3000 ) if it will see a significant improvement. I would be grateful for advice on the upgrade route and am happy to condider s/h ( from a dealer I think to give peace of mind ) to maximise my budget. I...

I thank everyone who my post re: my next step, the advice I got was spot on ! I have now replaced my two (old) Hi-Caps with a Supercap - WHAT a difference It is chalk & cheese - not at all subtle - wish I had done it before !? I was also advised that a NAC52 is considerably better than my NAC82 Having looked around and fairly recently seen a couple of 52s for sale - I do not really think I wish to pay the asking price for a 25yr old unit I am thinking of being patient and hunting down a...

Hi all, just wondering if a 10mm pane of glass placed vertically infront of my 2 brawn stacks (fraim) would block out some of the hum. System is active dbls so about 8 transformers. Obviously would need some gadget to make it all safe but just wondering if its worth tryig. I really wish naim would spend some of the r&d budget on hum removal as its a real problem. It just does not bother when when playing music cause my system was made for realistic volume levels. I do use the room for...
