I don't need any convincing about the contribution that power cables can make. I've got three Chord Sarum Tuned Arays with plans to upgrade from Tuned to Super in due course. I've also had a separate consumer unit as well as switchless sockets with star earthing. I am about to move house and wondered if the mains sockets themselves are important and if so does anyone have recommendations, ideally in a satin chrome finish (ie brushed rather than gloss).

Considering a move from the US to Spain... and from 110 volts to 220... of course the current boxes are all 110 volt... Anyone deal with this adjustment on a temporary basis or make the changes permanent? or? Of course buying a different or second system... but... thats not my question... has anyone changed their boxes? gotten a transformer to change the voltage of a dedicated spur? thank you in advance. Sincerely,

Hi, I'm new to the forum so be kind! My current system is an LP12, cirkus, ittok, and a freshly rebuilt Trioka, Naim 62,hi-cap 110, Marantz cd player. I have owned all this it since new, from the late 80s. I had all the amp's overhauled By Naim in 2004 and have not used it much since. I now want, after having the LP12 updated recently, to invest in a Uniti2 because the Marantz Cd is tired and i want o get into streaming and later on, when funds allow, a storage unit to rip all my cds into.

Just had my 52PS recapped yesterday. Original 1991 caps were leaking and sounded screechy. But I am surprised at the minimal improvement. I was expecting grand things. Does anyone know how long the caps take to burn in? Will the sound smooth out?

My hifi is below a wall book case. This evening while i needed to reach for a book on the very top shelf and i had to support my other hand on the top shelf of the Fraim stack containing snaxo242 and 500 amps and power supplies below that. First thing i noticed is that this stack is not as rigid as the other 2 in the system -- there was a small but significant 'give' when i pushed it a little. Then i noticed that this little push must have 'corrected' some misalignment as i sensed the sound...

I am taking my niece shopping for vinyl tomorrow, guess who is paying! That is not the mistake. I was playing her my digital front end, both streaming from my NAS and from Quboz, and I was feeling quiet good about my system. However, I thought I should play a bit of vinyl. Now, I haven't actually played any records since I bought my Focal 1008be IIs. I listen to the system every day but as I am generally programming it is simpler to steam. On went Marvin Gaye, Midnight Love. However much I...

So I finally bit the bullet and on the back of the considerable performance upgrade of the Super Lumina interconnect over Hi Line I have gone for Super Lumina speaker cable with a 3 X 250DR into NBL active system and sucked up 3 times the cable cost with a bit of help from my dealer. installed Friday and a noticeable increase in clarity and control but tonight it seems to have really clicked in. I'm not listening to a system any more, the music is in the room. Listening to Allan Taylor...

Had an interesting experience today that brought back memories. I had a friend come over to demo my PMC Twenty.23s to replace his B&W CM1 S2s. Loves many genres but mainly classical and looking for a speaker with a light touch even at volume. But a violinist with experience in an orchestra and who attends a lot of live orchestral performances. To cut a long story short, he really did not take a liking to the 23s at all. Perfectly fine, but the reason: far too much bass. Yes I know, the...

Tried powering the whole system down for 90 min. On reboot, the 552 is muted and set to Aux1. Mute is supposed to clear after 30 seconds, but does not . Button pannel does not respond. Anything I should try before shipping it for repairs? Thank you. Nick

Hi, new to the forum but not to Naim gear and this is my first post. Got my first Linn/Naim setup in 1979 comprising lp12-Ittok-asak-nac32-nap160-kans mk1 from Russ Andrews in Edinburgh and was smitten by the Ivor ideology, being a young engineering student it made complete sense to me that everything at the front-end should be the best engineered, then I got married and had many children so my beloved hardware had to go. Now said children have flown the nest I am now getting back into...

Hi All, In March / April 2016 I posted a question about Hauptwerk + Naim. I got replies on that and hence quite a lot of homework to do. Based on comments made, I've performed tests on my current setup (Supernait / CM1's). I've tested how deep my current speakers could go - my CM1's degrade quickly lower than 60Hz - using Hauptwerk, and I got recently a pair of other speakers as well (MoA) which have a much beter linear frequency response. These speakers speakers degrade if music is played...

I mentioned in another thread a week or so ago that I had accidentally damaged my Klyde and was awaiting a Krystal replacement ... Wel I got the Krystal and, even better, my home insurance agreed to pay out for the replacement (less excess of course) :) ... and very nice it was too and I was enjoying going through my LPs again. We all get a little cocky I suppose and last night I was just taking off my last album before retiring for the night when, guess what, I stupidly hit my hand against...

I wonder this based on Richard's post on the nSATs with a full 500 system. So which component (speakers pre power source???) can last the longest before being outshone by other components which have been upgraded?
GhettoyoutPosted: 16 September 2016Last Updated: 17 September 2016
I wonder if the forum can help me. It's quite possible I've made a schoolboy error. Today I collected my 500 after it has been upgraded to DR spec. Naim turned it around in two weeks and I even got a new cardboard box (my one was getting tatty). So all was set fair for some audio heaven. Rebuilt the brawn stack, connected it all up and put on the first cd and no sound to be heard. Turned it all on and off a few times. Rechecked cables. Mute was off on the pre-amp. The green light around the...

I'm running a Superline / Supercap into a 252/300 DR based system. Turntable is a Rega RP 10 with Apheta 2. What exactly is a Z-foil and what would it do for my system relative to the little plugs that I currently have plugged into the back of my Supercap? Is this a Naim produced product, or does it come from a 3rd party. If third party is it considered an acceptable mod from the Naim people?

After a few months of using my hicapDR on my supernait 2, and being quite pleased with the overall sound I thought I would remove it to hear the negative effect, if any, to the sound, but alas instantly the sound had more bounce and groove along with better flow.... hooking the hcdr back up brought a slight tightening of the sound and slightly more detail but the foot tapping element was missing !! My source is CD555 with Spendor S9 speakers. Anybody else prefer the supernait 2 bare ? Clintyboy

I have had a Unitiserve, Moon SimAudio 380D digital/analog converter and a Musical Fidelity M6PRX Power Amplifier for 4 years now, all units of course are broken in. Recently we had a power outage. My Nas units along with the d/a converter were off for at least a day before I noticed. The other components must have come back on after power restore. Well when I finally got everything powered up the sound was magnificent, more than usual magnificent. Of course I wanted to know why. I have...

Anyone tried them in their Naim system? I have the opportunity to try an ex-dem pair on my SN2/HCDR with NACA5. Wondering if its worthwhile lugging them home. To clarify, I'm referring to the latest generation Majik Isobarik introduced in 2011 - a floor stander.
