Anyone tried this new technology, from what I gather, the theory is based on preserving the digital signal, until it reaches the Exakt Box. At which point, the digital signal is converted to an analog. Hence, the major differences between the Snaxo and Exakt Box, would be the digital in signal, as opposed to the analog in signal associated with the Snaxo. Note, not active speakers with built-in Amp. But, Active ready speakers, that allows one to bypass the passive crossover with-in the...

Hi All, I started out in 1979 with a 42/110. Mid 1990's I bought a 92r and a Flatcap. These have served me well but I feel its time for service, and instead of doing that I would like to upgrade. I would like to add streaming, since my digital music is only growing while my vinyl gathers dust. With that in mind I visited my local dealer, who demo'ed a 272/250DR with Rega RX5's in a smallish room. I found that system to be a lot warmer and softer than mine, perhaps even a little too much,...

Looking at the manual for the amp I notice that the HDD socket serves both "in" and "out". Does this mean that that given that I get the correct cable made up that I can use it to feed a signa to a cd writer or headphone amp for example.

Coming from a system composed of CD5/FC2/112/150 with Kudos C20, I upgraded to NDX/SN2 with the same speakers. Well, although the sound is now much punchier, with excellent dynamics and far better extension of bass and especially treble, and tons of details, I feel the overall sound is a bit "flat" or, "matter of fact", perhaps lacking a bit of lush or of emotion. Is it just me or do you have similar experiences?

No not flat earth, I'm planning to recycle my leftovers after upgrading to a flat we've bought in Montpellier. The nearest I've been to living in a flat was a student hall of residence 35 years ago. At the time I wasn't too bothered about disturbing the neighbours though I did get a complaint from the warden. The speakers I'll be moving into the new flat are some Theil CS1.6, not the last word in deep bass but spiked to the floor they'll most likely prove too much for the new parents below.

Hi folks, I read some previous threads in the forum that some experienced users suggested that a single 555PS(DR) is better than 2 x 555PS(NON DR) in term of musicality. Is it true? Does it make a significant difference between them? Then, how about 2 x 555PSU(DR)? Will it bring the CDP to another level of musicality? By the way, there are many arguments in the forum that CDS3 is a more polite CDP than CDX2 while CDX2 is more or less skewed to rock and punchier sound. So, do we need to...

Preface: Much remains to be seen about this possible change of venue, and in fact I am taking a trip overseas (EU) in the near future to investigate some business opportunities, and with all the other things that may potentially need to be dealt with in such a move you'd think this would be not so high on my list of things, but we music nerds have our priorities out of whack, so here goes. I will further clarify that as I sit at present writing this, this move has about a 10-20% chance of...

This is how unobservant I am. I just noticed this button on my controller! Is it for the nSUB? I tried but that appears not to be so. Please advise!

Hi there, Am I right in thinking that the older SuperUniti cannot be upgraded to Bluetooth connectivity, or to match the spec of the new model generally? And is there an easy visual way of checking which model is which? Serial number for instance? Thanks for any advice.

Hello everyone, I have just bought a pair of sbl and I'm wondering the best way to go in active mode. To save money I'm thinking to buy a naxo/snaxo and hicap (both olive) and then a second power amplifier (nap 200?). Any advice on the following issues? 1) naxo or snaxo 2-4 2) nap 200 or the same power amplifier I own (nap 250.2)? 3) Others (cables...)? Thanks in advance. mark

Hi all, I just wondered about using DACs with Macs vs using a dedicated CD player. I know computers are noisy. Proper CD players not. I've never actually tried a Naim CD player in my system only DACs with my iMac. Do CD players sound a whole lot better and more natural than computer audio or not? And is it possible to get a good DAC sounding as good as a good CD player?Isolation needed with the DAC etc etc. I'm starting to wonder whether computer audio is practical at all and maybe I'd be...

A short post, in the light of recent discussions on various merits of DACs, pre-amps, quality of digital transports, source first... Added a pre-loved 555PS (non-DR on purpose) to my NDX+nDAC today. It replaces an XPS which found a loving home somewhere else. I was never that impressed with an XPS powering my nDAC. Adding a 555PS really does take it to a different league... The improvement is not subtle. Conclusions, which will no doubt polarise and divide: * Quality of the source,...

Plenty in this venerable forum about this brand but not a lot other from donkeys years ago. In the frame of mind to consider the obelisks 2, the Arcs 2 and the Compass 2". What's the pros and cons ? Please be gentle with me as I only have a Naim front end and not one that gets Naimites juices running. i like the fact that they all take up minimal space yet are supposed to give good bandwidth. The idea of omnidirectional design intrigues, not having a front forward presentation really appeals.

As some of you know from other posts, I have been home demoing a 250DR. Well today it left me to be replaced by a spanking new one ... magnificent from first turn on but I also got the dealer to replace the rollers on the B&W 803D3's with its spikes at last. So that would have helped too. All smiles playing tunes from my Unitiserv; tight bass, great detail and soundstage , etc etc etc :) :) :) So then it was time to try it with vinyl on the LP12 ... oh dear, it sounds all wrong, must be...

i have recently had to move my Uniti2 and Neat Iotas into the dining room. This in itself is not an issue, but what is is that I have to power the Uniti2 from another room via an extension cable passed through a wall. Due to factors that cannot be changed for the foreseeable future I will not be able to run a spur. So the question - thoughts on a good quality extension lead (I reside in the UK, so kit available there only please). Side (maybe silly, sorry mechanical engineer not a sparky)...

Hi all and happy bank holiday weekend! (In the uk) I have a question that has been nagging me for some time, and it is down to the size of speakers...not necessarily cabinets but more on the driver size. My confusion came years ago when I was running an Arcam system with Kef Q60's inherited from family. Due to my at the time girlfriend not liking the look of them, I opted to purchase their much newer successor; the IQ3's. These had a 6.5" cone as opposed to the larger 8" cone in the Q60's.

I have had the Naim for 10 days now - playing it almost non-stop. It is connected in AV bypass mode to my Yamaha receiver. My source is mainly Apple Lossless audio from a Mac Mini to AudiNirvana to an Arcam RDac. Jazz sounds mind blowing. But base heavy blues and rock sounds quite lifeless and muddy. Do I have a problem with speaker matching? Or should I look elsewhere? My sub is out for repair - the active B&W ASW750 - but it looks like I can't use it with the Naim amp - as it does not...

I have a Naim CD5 XS cd player and a Nait XS2 amplifier. Both are powered by its own HiCap DR power supply. I am now in the position to buy 2 power line cables. Should I connect 1 to the CD player and the other to the amplifier? Or should I connect 1 to the CD player and the other to it's power supply?

A few threads are speculating on the necessity of a naim preamplifier with a naim power-amplifier, the former as a vital component in delivering the 'naim sound'. Now, I don't know about you, but I've had all three naim pre's at one time between 202 - 252 with various loudspeakers; Epos, PMC, AE, B&W & more, and on each and every occasion the power/speaker/room interaction had far more palpable impact on the shape of the sound than a change in pre. Effectively I now use no pre (An...

Hi, I am plan to go down the active route. My present system Nap 90, Nac 92, CDS1, Credos and Flatcap on Nac92 .Is there any reason, after I obtain an Ixo, I cant get a better second power amp, Nap l80. Or would I better off getting a second Nap 90 and fthen getting them both serviced and matched? Cheers.

Oh dear...my beloved CDS2 has just decided...without consultation, warning or permission....to stop reading CDs! I didn't use it for a couple of weeks due to work commitments (although it and the XPS were kept switched on) and when I put a CD in...it just came up with the dreaded "ERR" on the display! I am gutted - no CDs work now..although they do spin.....but that's not very satisfying really as I prefer them to make music too...but that's just me So...over the past few days....I have...

Hi Folks. I've been a long time user of the forums from a research point of view whilst I pulled together my first Naim system, however I have a question around the power supply and thought it was time to post myself. My system is as follows: Supercap/ NAC282/ NAP250/ NAPSC/ Stageline/ Sondek LP12 (with Lingo power supply)/ CD5 I'm mainly into listening to vinyl and in fact the most expensive component in that lot is the LP12, it's a couple of years old, Akurate spec and has a Dynovector...

I'm about to purchase a pre loved black snaic 4 and I wondered if the age mattered? There are a couple I'm considering. The first, less costly one, is of Unknow age, so could be one of the first black ones for all the current owner knows. He bought it second hand too. The second, slightly more costly one is 3 years old. Does anyone know if the age matters or not?
