Seems to me that the CDX is stand dependant to some degree, but the CDS2 is less so, so is it worth spending the difference on a CDS2 - I am moving to Spain, and the music room will be refurbished to suit, so the rest of the system can sit on solid...

I have contacted my local dealer about this and he seems to think that this is a worthy buy..I have been offered a CD1 (CDI) for around £300, from what i understand this is somewhat of a bargain and I should definetly buy it, I would like the...

Hi All,A couple of weeks back I decided I was going to try to ditch the garden slabs my SBL's sit on and take up Naim's recommendation of placing crosshead screws in the floorboards for the spikes to sit in. Anyway, there's been frequent tweaking of...

Does anyone know anything about these speakers? I have only seen a picture but may have fallen in love.....

I had often wondered about the Aro and Ekos. About a dozen years ago I did find a dealer in LA that had both on demo. This was about the time that the Aro was released I believe, and it was the first time I had seen one. If I remember correctly, I...

I've just been asked whether I'm interested in a three-year posting to Dubai. As I have just invested in a high-end Naim system I wanted to check what the mains supply is there. Do you use the same 220-250 A.C. like the rest of the world or...

Taking Steve T's query in hand today I decided to find out once-and-for-all today whether the JM Lab 816s would work on the end of a Nait.Well, they do. Extremely well in fact. The bass was bold and yet well controlled, and the whole thing timed...

Greetings all. Are there rules or suggestions for placement of Naim preamps, power supplies and amps with respect to eachother? I've moved my system around recently, and noticed a rather stunning improvement in musicality and overall balance. Apart...

In my ongoing pursuit of musical pleasure I have managed to get hold of a nap160 that I plan on using with my nait2. With the 160 I also got a nac12 thrown in basically for free. Now I was wondering is the nac12 a worse or better preamp then my nait2?...

There was no doubt about it. The bookcase in my listening room cum bedroom was lonely. The only option was to take it upstairs to my study, where it could enjoy the company of four other bookcases. It was going to be hard work but I knew it was the...

Does anyone know of a decent indoor tuner aerial,i.e. one that can be lived with in the room as opposed to the loft? I am having no success with the ribbon-cable types.
mykelPosted: 25 June 2001Last Updated: 26 June 2001
A power supply, but that will be next year. I just picked up my "new" 32.5 (72 boards & black snaic) and 160 - recapped 2 years ago. Its now 2:15am; just finished racking them, the cableing is a no-mans land that I will sort out tomorrow, but I had to get them powered up tonite. The pre has been off for several weeks, and the amp for a couple of days. First impressions, even though NOTHING is sorted yet are positive. Compared to the Nait1 more swing, better extension at both ends, and alot...

It is the year 2101, and human society has exceeded all expectations. Nobody is starving, average life expectancy is over 100, crime levels are extraordinarily low and most of the Serious Crime Squad's time is spent tracking down Pot Noodle...

Ok, I'm slowly getting settled in my room, and I'm starting to realize that speaker positioning is going to be a royal PITA. With my big bay window, equipment closet taking a good chunk of space, big metal door on one wall, (always open) French doors...

... that was just too much. Just come home from a record shop where they have a special listening room for classical music. They have meanwhile replaced the barely acceptable small B&W speakers by sparkling new Bose Acoustimasses. Even writing the name of the brand makes me shiver - I've just gone through an absolutely horrible experience that's going to stay in my memory for years. The stuff truly hurt my ears, it is just beyond belief - my mother's kitchen radio sounds better. How the...

I am carefully considering a Mana wall shelf for my Linn TT as an improvement over my Sound Organization (original) wall shelf. However, we have two cats who jump around a lot and like to land on the TT with the dust cover down. In getting to the TT...

I would like to reclaim some floor space by putting my CDX/82/NAPSC/HICAP/250/Lingo onto my 5 shelf Quadraspire stand. Currently the CDX is on the top, then the 82, then a gap, then the HICAP, and finally the 250. The Lingo and the NAPSC are on an old...

Well looks like my search is over.Just struck a deal for a NAP160. It was fully serviced about 2 years ago. It also comes with the black snaic. Pick it up next week sometime. So, sometime next week I will retire the Nait 1 in favour of a 72'd...

A persisting theme in this forum is system supports and the large differences they make, especially Mana. I can understand the importance of isolating turntables from vibration and movement-and at a pinch can assume that protecting CD players from the...

My whole body aches! My hands hurt! My eye-sight is shot and my nerves are frayed. Thanks to setting up my DBLs followed by my amps, CD player & LP-12. And last but no means least a Mana Reference table. Crikey, I need a beer. The Rosewood DBLs look stonking by the way. Pictures as soon as I recover the ability to pick-up a camera (or anything else for that matter). What a tease... [This message was edited by Martin M on THURSDAY 21 June 2001 at 19:02.]

I was hoping to get a 32.5/140 on the secondhand market, but it is proving rather difficult (well at least ones in good condition and at right price).Anyway I then thought perhaps to buy the new nait 5 and then as a later upgrage get a good power amp...
