In another thread here, Mike Hanson tells that he "toe in" his speakers and locate them a feetaway from the wall.I tried it and it is like a magic. This is an example to an idea that improves sound without demanding money payments.Maybe other members...
Hi,Being a newbie to high-ish end audio, I guess I am a bit perplexed by the continuous discussion on stands. From the contributions I have seen, I have gathered that they may/may not be important to the musical experience, Mana/Hutter is the...
Probably the oldest subject in the world, but has anybody tried going active using a pair of 135's and a single 250 driving SBL's? The rest of my kit is 52, with Roksan DP1/DA1/DS4 CD (can I say that?) and Linn LP12.Thanks
In one of the recent Kan threads, Tony Lonorgan mentioned soldering two sets of Naim 4mm plugs to NACA5, to eliminate the use of the poor-sounding jumper links used on the back of KanII's when single-wired.Since the arrival of my new 5-series setup, I...
I hope to get some Mana soon, a Reference Table and a 5-tier rack. Can anyone can point out websites for the best deals (UK) ?Unfortunately, the dealer here shut down operations ... and nobody's selling theirs ...
Could you possibly drop me an email at john.t.clark@rbos.co.uk - I wanted to ask you a couple of questions but your email keeps bouncing back...Cheers,John
My Lingo is one of the first made & has served me well for many years. My query is should I get the 'special' Naim compatible lead from Lingo to LP12 even though I don't appear to be having any problems with the set up, apart from the usual noise, wrecks the rest of the system thing? I have a separate spur for the rest of the system, but the Lingo is on another ring. Am I right in thinking that this lead helps to reject RF as well as grounding the chassis? Has anyone changed to this lead &...
HiI just picked up a pair of used Epos ES14 at a good price... they arrive Monday. Thought I would try out a new speaker for a change..currently haveCredo's and SBL's..Any opinons on the Epos ES14 ? How far from the rear wall for placement ?...
I replaced my Grado Sonata with a rebuilt Karma a few months ago. I haven't listend to a CD at home since. The Grado had, to my ears, a hig level of inner groove distortion, which I attributed to bad overhang. Does this seem like a likely...
My brother just pruchased a naim 5 series system as follows: cd5/112/150/ linn ninkas. He tells me that to listen with fairly decent volume he needs to turn the 112 volume knob to about 3 o`clock. Since I have read that you can equalize the input...
Paul, Mark, etc. What new products will you be showing at the Bristol hifi show? Rumour on the electronic grapevine is that you will be upsetting the Mana faithful by entering the market sector that they consider their own. Any comment??JohnMore...
Has anybody got, or used Mana speaker stands for the Linn Isobaracks. I'm still using the original stands, and have often wondered if they are worth the upgrade.›
Hi folks.I'm looking for alternatives to the VPI supplied brush that came with my 16.5 record cleaner - having so far cleaned around 200 LPs, it's beginning to look a bit worn and in any case the bristles on it always seemed a bit on the thick side to...
I need the assistance of any hi-fi fogies who are out there! I've seen a pair of Super Compacts going quite cheaply at a local shop and am tempted, but obviously a home demo will be out of the question. Therefore, does anyone ever remember them, and...
Hi!Does anybody know the Ensemble honeytable? I saw one s/hand for UKP85. Now I know my CDI needs a good support, but due to some major upgrades, I cannot afford a new rack from one of the better brands right now. This device was a plate of some kind...
I've got much loved Kan Is, s/n 24517/8 for those who know about such things. They have been moderately abused, one was dropped a few feet. They used to sound fantastic, but one speaker is suffering from a severely reduced treble. I think the tweeter...
There is a marked difference in loudness between my cd (CDI) and tuner (101+snaps) inputs through my 32-5 pre-amp. Both inputs have 328/1 boards fitted with the sensitivity pot adjusted to fully clockwise. The cd is connected to the tuner input and...
How does one view this?Is this where you can read members' profiles?ThanksIan

HiI've finally got around to fitting my prefix(after 2 months of ownership-waiting for hicap and cartridge) now fed by a 100hr old (supposedly) expert stylus Troika.(bought from a naim dealer)First off-- after 3 days burn(prefix is preused but just...
Err......Like what happened?.....Rico was last seen or heard of taking delivery of a major life enhancing upgrade via the Mana thing...... Installed by Damian himself no lessAnd then....?ZipI am concerned here..Was the purchase so worthwhile that he...
In my search for a quality CD source secondhand I couldn't help noticing a number of CD2 players on offer for nearly the same money as the more usual CDX. How do these stack up sonically, anyone? And what is the model history, which is the newer...
Just kidding. Rated it with two stars by myself.Arie
I've got a problem because I don't know wich way to go.My system exists of a nac42/nap110.The 110 must be serviced in a short time.Recently I bought a secondhand Nait-3 for 200 pounds. My question is :should I service the 110 and add a flatcap to the...
Over the weekend I heard a splendid pair of speakers by Audio Physic - the Tempos. They produced a big soundstage, total clarity through the (very even) range, and very clearly delineated musical / vocal lines (so that you could follow through a tenor...
