Afternoon everyone I am new to this whole streaming issue but am learning fast. I have a cds2 with 552,500 and a full blown av system from Naim (av2 etc). I am now looking at what to do with the CDS2. I like the idea of being able to stream my music from a NAS, but if I did this, would the music file be affected by the streaming section of an NDS? As I will be buying a new processor in the future, plus a UHD player, both these devices will have streaming capabilities - I will use streaming...

i have an old but good classic system of 52 super cap - 250 - Cds2 Xps. Want to move to streaming and am considering an Ndx or moving to a 272 and getting rid of the 52. Will go and listen but wondering if others have had this dilemma. Thoughts please.

I am currently using a UQ2 through my 32.5, Hi-Cap and Nap 140 as a source, and wonder if it's possible to do the same with a Uniti 2? Reason I ask is because I do quite miss my CDP. Either that or get a Unitiserve and add that into the system. The latter is probably the cheaper option (just about) but I do like the idea of having a simple CDP without losing the digital radio function and everything the UQ offers. I really do love this component and it's one of the most well rounded and...

I am running a 202/200 combination with a non-Naim PSU. I have been upgrading as funds permit and I am happy with the system as it stands. I have Dynaudio Focus 160s and I think that the system is quite well balanced; no star performer but nothing obviously poor either. Out of curiosity I put in my old CB 62, and the differences are surprisingly small. It could be that I need time to carry out a full assessment but I wonder what fellow users think. The 62 is not often named as one of the...

I know it sounds like I'm trying to desert the camp here but I only want to test the waters and was wondering if anyone had a chance to compare naim and cyrus kits. I'm particularly interested in SU vs. Stream XP2 Qx + Stereo 200, as my dealer can offer this swap to me at no cost, should I choose to (my sh SU for sealed cyrus boxes). Sadly, they cannot lend me the kit to test it myself at home. Out of memory however, auditioned in different rooms on separate occasions, I enjoyed Cyrus (high...

As mentioned in the Possibly the Cheapest Ever Upgrade(s)? discussion, I ordered and have now installed Herbie's Audio Lab's Fat Dots to replace the Blu Tack previously used between our ATC SCM19 speakers and Music Tools Entasis stands. I could have fitted spikes but this isolating material was attractive to us because it’s only 6mm thick so is hardly visible. The result is clearly a more open and entertaining presentation. Vocals (especially females) sound as though they've been positioned...

The NAC 272 retails at £3,300 while the NAC 282 retails at £4,395 inclusive of NAPSC. Without the NAPSC, the NAC 282 costs £4,045 which is still quite a bit higher than the NAC 272. Disregarding the fact that the NAC 272 is a newer preamp with more functionality or features, what is Naim's stand on both NAC 272 and NAC 282 solely on the aspects of sound quality? So far the impressions from owners or forum members who have compared both seem to be inconclusive. Some thought both sounded...

I use vinyl as my main source, but do have a lot of hi def FLAC files and ripped CDs on a laptop, which I play via a DAC into my 42.5 preamp. It is a bit of a nuisance to connect up the lap top each time, so is there a dedicated piece of kit that could hold all of my digital music files and allow me to play them through my preamp? Please excuse my ignorance of the digital realm.

i might sound like a nutter keep bringing up this cable sorry. i have just had installed a new dedicated spur by a qualified sparky after hearing about this cable. i tried it as a mains lead on my naim cd5xs i was gob/smacked at the improvement. so i installed it throughout my naim system. brilliant. the cable in question is beldon 19364 audio grade cable from mcru at cables r us co .uk so i have just had it in stalled as a mains spur as well. can i suggest you try one of mcru no 27 mains...

I don't seem to be making much headway in verifying whether my recently-purchased naim NAP 250DR has a genuine 'DR' sticker on it. The closest I have got so far is that it looks as if might have been upgraded by naim's distributor in Spain. To end any doubts, can anyone, please, be so kind as to post an image of the rear of an 'upgraded' 250 DR so that I can compare? The rear of my amp is pretty inaccessible and space is limited so cannot post an image. I've carefully dressed all the cables,...

I may have a bit of money to spend on an upgrade. I currently have a NAC172xs and (non-DR) NAP200, with ATC SCM11 speakers connected with NACA5. My question is: am I better off upgrading the 200 for a 250DR or upgrading the 172 for a 272? I will do an audition of course, but I thought I would canvas some opinions, if anyone has some experience to share. I listen to a wide variety of music from jazz and female vocal to electronica, dance and rap, 90% via UPNP and the rest (mainly for my kids)...

Hi, all! I thought I bring some back to the forum after reading a lot of post here. I must say that its a great place to spend some reading hours! I bought my current system in 2013-2014 and have learned a lot about the hifiworld since then and I am still learning. My latest upgrade to the XS-system is a lovely hifirack, Quadraspire EVO in pure white. My local dealer nicely asked the manufacturer to make the shelves in white as the company doesnt make them white from the start. Therefore I...

Looking for confirmation that a single Fraim stack of: Base > Medium > Standard (x4) would be okay? Currently have Base > Medium > Standard (x3) with majority of weight (components wise) on the Base and Medium level. Super light at top with RP8 skeletal TT on top level and below that, CD5XS. Thanks

Hi Need some advice on next upgrade option please. Current system NDX/NAC 202/NAPSC/HiCap (non DR)/NAP 200/PMC 2023. Not sure if next move should be XPS2 for the NDX or have the HiCap serviced and DR. Anyone been through similar upgrade path? I am looking for a significant improvement. Any thoughts? Jin

Faced with the prospect of having to abandon all but one of your current components and build a new system, what would be the single unit you'd save for a foundation? Your new hypothetical system might be all Naim or include other brands, can be less or more. Just that you can only carryover one item. What is the indispensable heart and soul of what you now have?

Hi fellow forum members! I have changed my speakers and thought I would write a few lines about it. I have never posted pictures here before but will try my best. It’s more fun with pictures I always like informative posts from people upgrading their gear and thought I should pay back a little by describing my journey. Just keep in mind that English is not my native language… Okay, so I started to think about new speakers approximately 1,5 years ago. My system at the time was: Source: NDS +...

My 300 has been sent to Plurison (Naim in Canada) for a recap and a DR upgrade, and the nice folks at Codell Audio have been nice enough to lend me a 200 in the interval. I've said a number of times in the past how I was unimpressed with the 200 - at some point I listened extensively to one at a Montrel dealership as a potential to a 140 upgrade with my then CDX2/XPS2/102 front end. Overall, I found the 200 hard where it should soft (mids and highs) and soft where it should be hard (bass and...

I've been recently given by my father an old Naim Audio NAC92 preamp and NAP90 amp which he bought in the 1990's. The trouble is that I'm having difficulties understanding how to use it. I've looked up manuals and have read many forum posts regarding this amp combo, but being somewhat ignorant to how HiFi works, I really struggle to understand any of what manuals and people say. I would say my biggest issue is how to hook up multiple outputs to the Naim NAC92 preamp. I currently have 1...

Last July, having had a SuperUniti and PMC speakers for two years, I decided to push the boat out - but not too much - and get a 272 and one of the first 250DRs, with a Quadraspire SVT to sit them on. Then, a few weeks later, in a stroke of incredibly good luck, following a tipoff on the Forum, I was lucky enough to get hold of a lovely pair of maple SL2s. Then in October I added an XPSDR. Fast forward to December, and a set of SL speaker leads, and then to January and an SL din to XLR lead.

An update. After getting the NAC 282 into the system more than a month ago, the preamp has opened up considerably now. Music sounds glorious and I am very pleased with the system as it is. The system is NAC 282 / NAP 200 / non-Naim PSU. To reaffirm my positive impressions on the NAC 282, I got the NAC 202 back into the system. I can now confirm that the NAC 282 is indeed a superior preamp. To avoid being long-winded, I'll just get straight to the point. After the NAC 202 replaced the NAC...

Did anyone compared headphone amp section of NACN272 vs DAC V1 vs Headline / Flatcap or Hicap? To use with HD800 / LCD2 / Sony Z7 I currently use 272 but not very happy about it, Mojo have more drive. I am exploring a headlamp to connect my main system, use it with both Nas / CD player and future turntable. I find a used DAC V1 wondering if it is worth to buy to use it just with Headphones. There are other non Naim candidates as well form Violectric, SPL and Terdypardo but i would like keep...

I was curious if there were any insiders on here that had a hunch if Naim was planning on releasing a new 2 box pre-amp streaming to replace the N272?
