A quick question to the mains experts please. I have run a new separate spur to my power amps sockets and, because the the cable runs behind the rest of the system, I bought a high quality shielded copper 15a cable from one of the hi-fi mains cable suppliers. I now wonder if the shielded was the right thing to do, as it might have an adverse effect on sound quality. Does anyone have any experience or advise?It is 3m run to the socket and then I use power lines. Thanks in advance

Hi forum members I am currently using a Nac 202 pre amp ,with a Nap 200, with a Napsc & Hicap .The source is a CD5 with a flatcap 2 , & SBL MK2 speakers. The system has a dedicated mains supply. Would a Hicap DR, on the 202 make a marked improvement?, or would a Hi line for the CD5 be of more reward in sound improvements. Regards Pieman.

There's a house and listening room I have spotted which is very spacious - a prime criterion for its purchase, but its layout has me wondering whether... A two stacked Naim set up can be distanced further apart than the burndy leads? Should it? No doubt a company makes these, but is it advisable? I note speaker cables are advised to be longer, so don't doubt the strength of electricity. Cheers for your response.

i have a 2010 mac pro tower running audiovana optical into a ndac 555ps dr, 552 dr etc. my question is would i be better off using a usb converter or firewire for that matter and if so what would you recommend

For those in the UK, how much would one expect to pay for a trade-in from a NAC282 (8 year old in mint condition) to a NAC552 (new)? or how much would you be able to pickup a second hand NAC282 for in the UK? Trying to do some math ;-)

My amplifier is closer to one speaker than the other. I have two 5m lengths of Super Lumina (just installed yesterday), one extends its full 5m length, but the other covers a much shorter distance. How should I arrange the length which only needs to travel about 1m to the speaker. My usual understanding is that the cable should be folded in short straight lengths, rather than left in a round coil. BUT is it safe to do this with Super Lumina, indeed can it be done? Hello everyone, for the same price on used market (4.000€ more or less) and considering my naim gear (here below), what are your preferences and why? Harbeth should be better if taken stand alone but..on future the idea to add a 250.2 with snaxo could be interesting! Hi to all!! This is Javi, from Spain. I bought an Unitiqute a few months ago. My setup has PMC GB1i floor speakers and Chord Clearway cables. I came from a basic ROTEL+BW system. Anyone has the unitiqute biwired? At the moment I feel my actual setup has no as clear definition as the old Rotel+BW system. A heavier gauge cable (Chord are 2.5 mm²) will improve the definition?. Opinions please PS: I know that there are many topics on the forum about biwiring... but never for Unitiqute2.

I have a NDX/Supernait 2 and PMC23s (and LP12/Stageline). I really like it in terms of speed, overalll cohesion and detail but feel its almost too much of a good thing - both the amp and speakers are fast, dry, lighter and dynamic. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for alternative speakers which would add more texture and weight. Has anybody compared a non-Naim CD player (combined with the Naim DAC) to the Naim CDX2? In general, which configuration will produce better results? The transport that will be used with the Naim DAC will be a Krell KSP-30i top loader. If the Krell is regarded as a mediocre or poor transport, what are the good CD transports that will surpass the CDX2's performance when used in conjunction with the Naim DAC? Lastly, is optical or coaxial the preferred connection between the transport and DAC?

Following the forum regularly, its easy to see at a glance how well thought of the 250DR is. At the risk of sounding foolish .....if I upgrade my 250.2 to DR spec does it become exactly the same spec as a spanking new factory fresh 250DR or do some components differ in any way? Anyone done the upgrade recently? My 250.2 is a 2008 model.

Last Saturday the mains supply cut out. On return, the system came back and I listened to some vinyl. When I changed to CD I found I got no sound, except when on maximum volume. Just a weak sound. Last time this occurred, the CDS3 had reset to phono output and I changed the settings to DIN and the problem was solved (from oo to O). This time, I checked this first. Still no sound. I also remapped the 552 input sockets and tried the CD input on various other sockets. No sound. Vinyl plays fine...

I am thinking of upgrading my Nac 112x pre and getting a good quality Network Player...So logicaicaly I am going to audition a Nac-N 272 ...I was wondering about the quality of the pre section and how it will perform compared to the Nac 112x ..? Is this just a sideways step or is the pre as good as ' or near to a Nac 202 for example..?? Oh my power amp is a Nap 150x which I am more than pleased with in terms of power output. It has more than enough grunt for my living space..
