what if any do you use with your naim equipment
Has anyone any thoughts on how much better a flatcap xs is compared to flatcap 2 when in use with a nac 112x..? I am considering my next upgrade and am using the Nac 112x powered by the NAP 150x.. Or am I better going up to a better pre amp ?. I do love the sound of this pre it has a soundstage that I like and a nice contrast musically..It is slightly better in my view tan a Nac 42.5 that i have shelved at the moment...Also newer eq is probably more serviceable..I go back to the nac 42.5...

I have just received 2 new additions; powerline and SL IC. They are sitting in my office and will be plugged in later tonight. Yes I will install both together and yes I shall try the PL on not just the NAP (the intended target) but the other boxes in time. The SL/IC will replace a HL. I look forward to reporting some changes later in the day. Dave
Dear Naim Friends, I need some advice and consider this place the best to ask for independent advice. I've bought a Supernait last year which has a CD5i + Chromecast Audio attached. CM1 Speakers. During daytime, its used for mid-fi kind of listening whilst I'm coding software. I've discovered that it greatly relaxes me when I use the setup in the evening for concentrated listening to e.g. symphonies ... put chair on right spot, slightly turn speakers inwards, glas of red wine and this planet...
Hi, my first post. For some six months I've had a Powerline on my NAP250, but today I thought I'd try it on my HiCap. I've always had some mechanical hum on the HiCap since the day I bought it, some two years ago but not enough to stop enjoying the music. When I switched the HiCap back on, the mechanical hum had all but disappeared. Maybe I moved some cables whist changing over the leads but now it's a lot quieter than before. Been on about mains cables and personally they make a huge difference,i use russ andrews stuff,ive got a r a slic cable.had it about 4 weeks and the difference is frightening this bit of cable cost me 300 quid. everything is in a different league.i listen every day sometimes more ,ive forgot agbout having my hicap souped up theres no need

Afternoon Folks, Having had my LP12 serviced and upgraded recently plus expecting to buy a 112/150 combination soon to replace my 1990ish NVA AP30 I am also looking at speakers and wondered if anybody near Pontefract in Yorkshire was still using SBLs and would not mind me listening to them for half an hour at some point? Lightning/thunder c.15 mins ago and loud crack close-by and lots of lights on the 552 suddenly came on and one channel was dead (it wasn't playing at the time). After a 2 min power down, all appears OK - but no more chances today - powered down for safety. ..I'm sure we all think 'it'll never happen to me'!
both are rated at 70w. What's the difference? I've read somewhere that the 200 is on par or better than the amp used in SN2. Is this true?
Not too many posts extolling the virtues of the 250.2 paired with the S400. The post Christmas upgrade path from NDX:SN2 PMC.23 is now complete with NDX:NDAC/XPS2 282/SCAP2 250.2 Ovator S400. The 250.2 replaced a 200 and it is settling in nicely over the course of a few day's playing. I'd had everything powered down 48h and it's surprising how long it takes to regain equilibrium in the system. I'm guessing the 250.2 has been off for a few weeks at least. just bought the above naim nac 112x and 150x power amplifier no Hicap for the pre amp..I love the sound of radio stations etc through it...Would it benefit from a Hi cap..? Slightly different from the older nac 42.5 i have been using.. Bit larger sound and a bit more forward in its presentation...Cd is a little forced..Is this the expirience of upgrading..? I have tried the 42.5 with the 150x power amp and the sound is less forced and better with some music....? All comments welcomed...
Going through some old photos today (please pardon the quality - these are scans of very old prints), and came across some photos of my first HiFi in 1981. I remember the turntable was a Sansui SR-222 Mk II, the amplifier a JVC JA-S11 (with matching JVC JT-V11G tuner), and the cassette deck being a Hitachi D-75S (a replacement for my earlier JVC CD-1740 cassette deck); I cannot remember the make and model of speakers though, and hope that some sharp-eyed forum member can identify them...

I have a Nac 42.5 pre and a Nap 140 power amplifier...Obviously interconnect is taking musical information from pre to power and power from the power amp to pre..Blanking plug is left in as no external power source Hi cap ' Snaps is being used....I guess taking the blanking plug out stops power being taken into the pre amp from the power amp..Up to now I am clear ' I think..Blanking plug i IN no power supply ' Blanking plug OUT when Hi cap or snaps used... I am currently upgrading to a Naim system and not sure whether to include a CD player or Unitiserve. I have a stack of CDs but now generally just play download music. Any recomendations as the sound is important but really just for general listening and not dissecting particular albums etc. J
Can anyone comment on this comparison? Does the DR raise the 252 to the 552 level when the former has the DR fitted and the latter does not?
