Hello Everyone, just curious. Would anyone know the physical component difference between the different Naim CD players please? I read that the CD5si has a Burr Brown PCM1793. This is a 24 bit DAC. I am curious as to what the other CD Players have? Do they have better DACS? More bits? Do they have better analogue filters? Better Master Clocks? Better transports? What makes each model tick? As I noted in the thread on 250DR Upgrades, I have shipped my 250.2 off for the DR upgrade. So I am now playing music with my UnitiQute (24/192) doing service as power amplifier. People are using great audio equipment such as the NDS, which I grant is top of the line, but let me zoom out and highlight something which no-one has posted about. A fully suped up nDAC with a 555DR has the USB socket which charges small devices, such as high quality portable audio players from Astell & Kern. I'm not great at reviews but just a quick impression of moving my speakers around in my second system. It lives in quite a large area room that is an odd shape being an open plan 'H' so needs a bit of volume. I have a Qute plus a vintage 250, nSub and nSats/stands but the arrival of Sl2s in my main system has liberated my old SBLs. Recently picked up a lovely Chrome Bumper 250, fully serviced by Naim 3 years ago, and is from exactly the same year that i first purchased a new 250, 1986. I'm using it on Kans from the same period, and am reminded of their combined signature like it was yesterday. Presently using a DacV1 straight into 250 and it's a lot of fun and very insightful. If ever a product defined what Naim is about, this 250 is it.

Would upgrading to a Supernait 2 from a 122x/150x be a considerable upgrade. There is a huge difference in price so I would expect it to provide a significant benefits. It would be ideal to be able to hear one in my system at some point but before then I thought I would ask the forum first. The power rating is higher in the SN2 than my current set up but would upgrading to an SN2 be worthwhile and in what areas would I see the benefits. I have a flatcap and use a CD5x and an LP12.

I just received my new toys. New Shure SE846 in ears and a Sony Walkman NW ZX2.... I am just listening to my new in ears, incredible this type of complete sound for in ears. I had before SE535´s but these are again on the next level. Will give you guys an update on the further initial experiences.

Having issues with the display not showing the tracks available but rather stuck at _ _ Need to reopen and close tray on CDX2 a second time. If I load and immediately press play, get an err, then_ _ , then tracks, then need to press play again. Erratic. No answer from Naim. I understand default in dis but not the issue.

Hi all, One of my best friends is turning 40 next month. He is an avid music fan (mainly rock) but has never really had the opportunity for a variety of reasons to get himself a decent system. He has recently been compiling his top 100 albums and is planning on purchasing these on vinyl over a period of time. I can't recall the last time I cleaned the connection points of my equipment and speaker terminals. I found my Deoxit tubes in a closet yesterday after all these years. It must have been at least 5 years since I last used these contact cleaners. Hi all, I currently have a Naim 5i, CD5 i , LP12 (Project SE phono stage) and Dynaudio Excite X38's. The speakers were my last upgrade a year ago and I love them, however, I don't feel they are being driven properly especially at lower volumes (particularly CD's). (the Omega in particular) How would you describe the differences between ZYX cartridges and DynaVector/Linn/Koetsu cartridges in terms of sound quality? I just returned from a store in Milano where I went to buy a cable and I took advantage of dealers kindness for comparing the integrated Mc 5200 100 wpc with Naim XS2 70wpc and ND5XS source. The McIntosh remains unbeatable for charm and beauty but the Naim has outclassed in sound detail and accuracy with a greater musical punch and this almost half the price.
