finally could get to the dealer to pick up the NAPSC...And came back with an additional box containing an NDX for a week's home-demo... Oh and a promise from the dealer to give me a call in about a week to come and listen to their new Statement set up playing into Sonus Faber Il Cremona speakers (which they get on Tuesday). One can always dream...or sell the kids...
My dealer has been waiting since the end of March for a NAP300DR to be delivered so that I can audition it. He still cannot tell me when he is going to received it due to production issues in Salisbury. Can anyone shed light on what is going on? I am thinking of have my 300 DR'd but want to listen first. Ken
Need a second naim system. So my options is buying a 2hand Uniti 1 or a 2hand nait 5i (non italic) + cd5si. Price is about the same. I'm only interested in CD playing so the streaming function from the uniti doesn't matter, but are they close in generel perfomance?
hi there i'm a contented owner of a NAC 122X and NAP150X from which i run a pair of B&W 704 speakers however i'm listening to more music on my CD5i and finally buying less records and miss the naturally bassy sound of vinyl and was thinking of augmenting my rig with a subwoofer i'm looking at the B&W ASW610XP and the cheaper B&W ASW610 to go with my B&W speakers. does anyone have thoughts, opinions or ideas that i should consider? thank you.
hoping someone can help Just tried to change the input of my preamp from cd to phono and the light showing the input went out and I couldn't select . The volume knob started going to full volume and back and then searched inputs and keeps repeating this procedure. I thought it might be the input cable from my Non-naim power supply so I have taken the power supply out the system and reinserted the dummy plug and wired it directly from my amp. Still doing it so unsure of next step.
What interconnect cables come "stock" with each of the following components? CD5X (One 5-pin to 5 pin?) FC 2X HC SN (here I would assume "none"?)
Can anyone confirm for me that if I use the "Input trim" on the NAC-N 272 that there is no loss of quality. I find that some inputs need the volume at much higher level, so to save loud bursts from UPnP after watching TV I'd like to set the Digital 4 input to +10 and the UPnP to -5 but don't want to loose quality.
Hi, i have just returned home after several days and found that my stageline has stopped working. The little light has gone out and no sound from he turntable. The rest of the system appears to be playing as usual. Does anyone any ideas as to the problem? Thanks
what will fill the enormous financial and significant SQ gap now present from the 500 series of components? Adding a DR upgrade is not what I am talking about here- imho a significant step is what is needed to keep 500 series owners in the loop. What think you?... ATB, Mark
I thought I'd take the forum away from thorny topics like whether to add a third 555PS to the existing 7-box system, and ask if anyone here is still using Credos and if so, how do you think they compare with some current speakers? I had a pair for a brief while in the late 90s and thought they had some special qualities which I hadn't found elsewhere; and never warmed to allaes for some reason.
Hello, I have a Nait 5i and I'm really happy with it. I would like to ask is there any way of connecting my amp to the Sony PS 4 which has only digital optical output for sound, so it has no stereo output terminals. What is the input on the front fascia, i thought it was for connecting an i-pod or some other digital device. Please correct me if I'm wrong! thNKS FOR REPLYING.
Dates : Friday 17 th June Location : The Audio Barn – Harlow, Essex The Audiobarn are pleased to announce their first Naim Audio event for 2016 following two very successful gatherings in 2015. As always the event will be supported by Naim and at least one of their representatives will be present on both days to share their passion and great music with you all! The event will run from 3 ‘til late on Friday 17th June as an informal music evening and a social get together. Saturday the 18 th...
I was thinking of getting a Stax valve energiser (aka headphone amp). I could run it from either the fixed or the variable output on my NAC-N272. With the solid state STAX energisers you can wind the volume up to max and leave it there, feed it from the variable output of the preamp, sit back and use the 272's remote control (or Naim app) to control the volume in your ears. However, can the same be done with a valve energiser... is a valve device happy to be left at full volume with the...
I noticed this while commenting on another post. But it appears the NAPSC is really gone from naim.com and all mention of this as an upgrade to the 202 have been removed. Cue wild speculation and rumor. Not very productive but we all do it. Implications for future of the Headline and current preamp lineup? Many have said that the current range of preamps was refreshed with the DR upgrade on the power supplies. I don't buy that for a second. I have actually for a while now put all intentions...
Hi Guys (& girls). I know that Naim encourage upgrades and there have been several threads regarding this but I'm interested in hearing current thoughts and first hand experiences. What upgrade would give my system (272 & 250DR) the biggest improvement? I could add a Power supply (XPS), replace Power Cables, get a better Stand (still on a cheap glass AV rack), replace the Interconnect Cable (Super Lumina?) or use Isolators (have seen the stillpoints Ultra SS). I enjoyed the Naim demo...
I finally bought the NAP-250DR to partner my NAC-N272. Currently i play them with B&W PM1 speakers, which i was using with the NAP-100 power amp. My listening space is small to medium having approximate dimensions of 4.5mW x 3.5mD, although on one side it opens up to the rest of the house, so it gets much bigger on that side. The PM1's were ok with the NAP-100 but i need something better now. I am not sure which speakers are the optimal partner for the N272 / 250DR combination. I expect...
I am newbies here, I would like to get come inputs from others. Should I biamp my current setup. My current setup is NAC202 + NAPSC + NAP200DR + HICAPDR. I wished to add on NAP100 amp to drive my speaker High Freq range and use my existing NAP200 to drive Low Freq range. (Passive bi-amp via HICAPDR connection) My speaker is Proac D20R. As per webpage technical specification, both of the amps are having same gain output which +29dB, except on frequency response and output Watt per channel are...
Any who have experience with B&W 604 S2 and Naim...particularly Nait 5i? Does it have enough power for those B&W's?
Hi all ! Before asking you the actual questions i'm going to list my audio setup: 1) Naim Nait 5si 2) Naim cd3.5 ( Connected via a Din-Din cable to the CD Input ) 3) Pioneer N50K Network Audio Player (Connected via RCA-RCA to HDD Input ) 4) KEF LS50s Basically i have 2 questions for the experts out there : I'm planning to buy a turntable (this will be my first one actually so i have very little knowledge about the phono stages and all the related stuff) . The main reason of buying a...
Hi all, May I ask the strengths of each of the captioned CDP? Can I say that the presentation of vocals of CDS3 is better than CD555 whilst the presentation of symophony and orchestra of CD555 is better? Then, do we consider the factor of listening preference before considering to upgrade the CDP? Any advice is highly appreciated! Cheers, Patrick
Geeky question but I was asked a question today and can't find the answer. Does anyone know where i can find the current output and damping factor for the SU? (Or does anyone just know what they are?). Thanks a lot.
When I first posted on here it was to mention I am on the replacement hi-fi path and decided to jump from Cyrus to Naim. The 202/200DR is now run in after a month. A NAPSC is sitting at the dealer and I just need time to go and get it, so that is one step ticked off. So...I ask, what next...? Current set-up: Music - ripped CDs (FLAC lossless via windows PC stored on a QNAP NAS in a home server network. Hi-res downloads (HDTracks; Qobuz) - Streamer is Squeezebox Touch with EDO plug-in (24/192...
Who enjoys his or her Naim (as we are on a Naim forum) system more the person who has saved up over a long period or who has bit by bit bought and sold to eventually acquire a quite modest Naim set up or the person who can afford to buy a hugely expensive system and upgrade whenever a new piece of kit comes on to the market?
100% cut and paste from a topic over on the fishy thing.........made me laugh. "Room Acoustics in most household's vocabulary means having the kids out of hearing range". Dave.
For those who own the 282, I would be interested to know if there are tangible or appreciable differences when the 282 is matched with the 250DR, 200DR and 200. The natural partner for the 282 is of course the 250DR, but I notice that there are folks who are equally happy with the 282/200. With demanding speakers, the higher output of the 250DR will surely be beneficial and will likely be an improvement over the 200DR or 200. However, what about easy speakers? If there is a difference...
