My system is a CD5XS + Naim Nait 5i-2 + Merlin TSM ( this is all wrapped up now temporarily ) This time i plan to shift the 46 inch TV between the speakers ( on the wall ) to a different location altogether and i wanted to know if :- a. Any advice welcome on the following: I am in a position to trade my olive SC for either an ex-dem 2014 DR version or second-hand 2005 version, which was DR upgraded in 2013 (client/product known by my reliable dealer). Price difference is ~£1,000 (newer more expensive). Has there been any internal changes in the SC between 2005 and 2014 that would make the newer version a better buy sonically? I appreciate at the end of the day I have to decide whether the price difference is worthwhile, but...

Hi guys. Trying to come up with a short-list of decent speakers for my living room (40 sqm). System: 282/SCDR/250DR. Sources: NDX / Sondek LP12. Cables: HiLine Din-Din, SuperLumina speaker cable, PowerLines. In order to get the speakers past the Government Approval they must come in Piano Black. Budget: GBP 12,000 / EUR 15,000 (thereabout). Any suggestions?

just curious if anyone does anything specific when it comes to power failures. As we have our shut down procedure not to blow up our speakers with pops, we shut down our power amps first. However, in a power failure we don't have that choice, I just had an outage and my pre went out first and the POP that came out of my speakers could be heard anywhere in the house it was so loud. Has anyone ever experienced speaker damage from this?

I am awaiting delivery of a NAC82. It has been serviced in 2014 by Class A and the previous owner says it has a POTS6 upgrade which was done at the same time. What is the difference between the POTS6 and POTS8 upgrade? Is it worth upgrading to POTS8? Cheers.

Hi - I want to replace my Hicap DR with a Supercap. I see quite a few older models that I could afford to buy and get serviced (either olive or black 1999), but will these be a good as getting as later post 2002 model? What if any are the differences? I'm not thinking of DR - can't afford. Also what is/is the Supercap II and improvement also on "S1" ? Thanks a lot.

With the last DAC-V1 firmware upgrade I am able to listen to my DSD collection, however I noticed frequent "drops" in volume (lasting a split second) every now an then during each track, it can happen 2-3 times per track but it nearly always happens. I use Roon for playback and 64 and 128 DSD files. Does anyone here face the same issue? Does anyone know if Naim are testing a further update to the firmware or did we reach the end of the road here?

Last night I spent a few hours listening to my LP12/Archidee/72/HiCap/140/Spendor S8e setup. The amps have really come on song after a short period of warming up. I listened to Clapton, Dire Straits, Cat Stevens, Miles Davis, Son House and Lynyrd Skynyrd. ive had the S800's for a few days now and I can't stop listening to music! Lots to say but as a first feed back I have to say DB was on the money, straight away they performed beautifully, nothing seems difficult and the stereo imagery is the best I've experienced, best bit is I'm just hearing and enjoying the music, very impressed so far but they are enormous! 112kG each speaker, but luckily also stunning to look at! martin

I have been offered a used NDS. I have listened to a NDS/282/300 combo(closest to my 282/250/SC combo) I have read the hell of a lot about the NDS and sometimes I have the feeling it is just a very expensive, souped-up hard disk. Am I wrong?

Hi! Wonder if anybody has any experience comparing Supercap (olive or black) hicap-DR. I have a Dualrailed nap 12-160 powered by a hicap-DR with powerline. Would a supercap be able to improve on a 12. Asking because rumors says Naim themselves are using a 12-supercap in their service department. Wanted to ask advice from those who run Dynaudio with Naim where. I now use my Hugo/282/250DR with Dynaudio X32 floor standers, and the combo is very good. I am tempted by the higher Dynaudio speakers like the new Contour range or even pre-loved Focus, but not sure what is there to be gained. Horch House will be "rolling out" a new reel-to-reel tape deck later this year, the Project R2R. A brazen venture and no doubt the deck will be expensive. While Horch House is currently producing new R2R tapes, the market of users with an existing catalog of quality R2R tapes to justify the cost seems extremely limited.
