It has been for months that I give a serious listen to my main stereo due to recent re-location to another country, new posting, heavy work, health issues of the elderly in the family, etc. I started listening early this morning and it still goes strong after eight hours, CD after CD. I just forgot how this little system sounds so right, real, communicative and perhaps organic (never been good to describe SQ). Nothing fancy here. Cheapest CDP in the line, an integrated with "middle child...

I tried the Naim power line on my 250 DR, (I only have one), and it adds much improvement, more detail is audible, more powerful bass, maybe a bit too much bass actually But on the Hicap DR, the huge 282 soundstage expands even more in all directions, really amazing, I am seriously impressed. But if I had to choose between Hicap DR and 250 DR, my preference would be to keep it on the Hicap DR

Hi, I have the above kit apart from cables - need 7 metre runs so cannot afford NACA5. I am thinking of Linn K20 - one sixth the price - or can anyone please suggest anything better up to £10/mtr that is suited to Naim amps - I don't want to compromise that wonderful Naim sound! Thanks a lot.

I know this has been discussed before but those were closed. I found the following from another NDX temperature related post. Can someone please tell me how I could put the NDX to preamp input ? Does it help reducing temperature on NDX also ? Many thanks in advance. " When not in use, I put the system input to a preamp input (via system automation) and this keeps the ND5XS cool (but still at over 30W power consumption - is this really necessary, naim?). In contrast, my MacMini uses a more...

Hi forum. I have just purchased a Slic interconnect lead to enable my flatcap 2 psu, to power a headline 2 amp. I was using a naim i supply previously. Is the flatcap 2 a much improved solution over a i supply and in what way is it better?. Regard's Pieman.

i know what it's for etc - but is the ideal to balance across inputs as close to zero as possible? Or does it not matter? for example, if my turntable needs a +10 to be level matched to my NAS input, is it best to set the NAS to -5 and the turntable to +5, or does it not make one iota difference?

Hi fellow Naim users, especially those using Nac 282. I do appreciate your help in this. The sound is coming only from one of my speaker. I checked the balance wheel and it is positioned in the middle. When I switched speaker cable, (i.e. Left to Right) the sound will come from the other speaker. However, when I press mon, both speakers will have sound.. I only have one source NDX. Have you all experienced such problems before? If so, how did you solve it? Thanks for your help.
PurplerainPosted: 11 April 2016Last Updated: 20 May 2016
how do you think about it? If 252/supercap dr/ndx/xps is much better, money is not problem. my speaker is proac k6.

Thought I'd share this in case anyone else is also suffering. I was in the middle of changing LPs in the Sondek last night and could hear voices coming from the speakers. After quickly checking my mental state and deciding they were real voices, I turned the Nac 52 vol up to 2 o'clock and could clearly hear a German radio broadcast. Even at a vol position of 11 o'clock it was still audible. Never had this before. So.... 1) I powered everything off, checked connectors and the cables around...

I've now spent about 50hrs listening to my 252 - which had about 20hrs on it previously as ex demo'. It's been hard, 'digital' with brash, sometimes painfully shrill leading edges all this time until Saturday night. Fed up, I disconnected the burndy and re-connected. Epiphany moment. Harshness completely gone; smoothness, warmth, delicate articulation instead of brashness and a filled-out middle making for a huge stage. I laughed out loud with relief and played through the audition tracks...

Actually this was a three-way fight because these two were up against my trusty Chord Sarum Tuned Aray interconnect but that would make the title too long. To make life easy (and because I can't type) my Chord Sarum Tuned Aray interconnect I will refer to as TA, the Chord Sarum Super Aray we'll call SA and the Super Lumina will be known as SL. My dealer assured me the SL and SA were both run in, important as I know the TA and SA take hundreds of hours to sound their best. I replaced my...

I am adding a HiCap to my 72/140. I am confused as to which socket on the HiCap connects to the 140. In the manual it tells me to connect to socket 2 on the HiCap, but on the connection diagram it shows the 4 pin Snaic connecting to socket 3. Can someone please clarify? The serial number of the Hicap is 90395. Thanks. BB I'm sorry, but I posted this in the wrong place. Could someone please move this thread to the Hi-Fi Corner? Thanks.

Hi all just got my 250.2 back now dr upgraded......first thoughts have had it playing for 2 hours now......amp sounds much smoother, base appears to have a little more punch....however, at the moment 2 things strike me ..... not quite as musical yet and amp appears to sound less open. In fairness my 250.2 was left on perminatley so was fully stabilised ......... so l think things will change....as the days go on. When these amps are upgraded do Naim replace the amp boards and transistors? It...

I wish I hadn't dropped one of my local Hifi shops an email. i like my UnitiQute going into a nap200. So it was really daft of me to email them about a 272 and get told I can have a demo one for a good price. arrrrgh.
AndyzegPosted: 15 May 2016Last Updated: 19 May 2016
Well....as it appears that Naim Users are always looking for "that next upgrade"...(me included....yes it's a curse from the Devil!)...so I was looking for a relatively inexpensive way to get more out of my NBLs. I read on this very Forum that Nap 135s are in a different league to a 250....and so I sourced a pair at a very reasonable price and hooked them up....the rest is history! If you can class "since Friday evening" as history?? The sound difference was truly incredible! Wow! I am...

RAJAR have publish the latest UK radio listening trends, http://www.rajar.co.uk/ Unfortunately (again) they have some inconsistency & changed the reports trend format. I'm not really sure if the Q1 2016 data for AM/FM is correct or the Q4 2015 is wrong (I suspect the latter) unless the UK has gone mad buying FM radio's, so maybe best to disregard the AM/FM percentage change. Q4 2015 Q1 2016 Change AM/FM 50.7% (???) 55.9% 10.26% (???) DAB 27.7% 30.9% 11.55% DTV 5.0% 5.4% 8.00% Online 6.8%...

Finally! Loaner SSA has landed chez moi. exciting! Just installing now and will start the listening later. quick Q for the SSA fans: A long while since I used a DIN with locking rings and I recall that Naim recommended NOT locking the ring, but leaving it undone. What best for this SSA do we reckon? cheers, Kevin

My Dynavector xx2 has a very fine hair stubbornly attached to the cantelever close to the stylus - and I'd like to get rid of it. It's finer than one I recently removed with tweezers - in fact I didn't know it was there until I viewed the cartridge with a magnifier. It's so small I think tweezers may cause damage. It's presence may be catalysing a build up of 'fluff' retrieval. I've also tried the 'green stuff' and an Audiotech 'vibro pad' thing - but with no success. Is there a cleaning...

Good morning, I am the proud owner of Naim Superuniti with Signum speakers and stands from Sonus Faber and lately I am thinking of upgrading. So I am looking for new speakers, choices as always is very simple for me Sonus Faber. Music I listen to is rock, jazz and some classical music. So the choices I have is are : Sonus Faber Venere 3.0, Or Sonus Faber Venere Signature , Thinking that the Venere Signature would be overkill maybe. So are there people who have this speakers with Naim and...

Hello, Best matching for f206 seems to be 200/202, from my experience. Anyone else? Anyone tried with other naim electronics? Thank you.
Anto68Posted: 16 May 2016Last Updated: 18 May 2016
Why the SACD does not work with digital coaxial cable to the Superuniti? After upgrade with DSD 64 in the specifications it is reported that this audio format is also supported via electrical digital coaxial input.

I'm wondering about benefits of the black SNAIC5 versus the old grey one. Was it just for audio, or were there intended improvements for the power lines as well? Moderated Post: Mike, I've had to edit your post so it complies with forum rules regarding unauthorised modifications and removed mention of a company who has requested that they and their products and services are not named or discussed on this forum.

Yesterday I picked up a discounted base and one level set of FraimLite for my office system. Before that I had my old Nait 5 and Headline sitting on a file cabinet. I can't believe the improvement with the Lite. Granted, the cabinet was a poor choice, but the Lite is the biggest, instant improvement I've experienced with any of my Naim equipment. It also looks great and was a breeze to put together.
