I am considering buying a turntable and trying out the vinyl experience. I would welcome some advice / thoughts from forum members. 1) When buying vinyl can each copy be different in quality ? Are there occasions when the pressing is so bad that it has had to be returned? The reason why I ask is that Sainsbury's have started selling vinyl and I am not sure if different dealers stock different pressings . They have Hotel California, Rumours and Abbey Road- all on 180gm vinyl which I am keen...

Hi, I haven't got the funds to go new ones, but would like your advice on whether to go for a secondhand 202 or 82. They seem to come in at around the same price. The 82 will probably be cheaper as it would have phono boards fitted, whereas I would have to buy a phono stage for the 202, increasing the box count as well. But what would be a better upgrade? Current amp : 102/Hi-Cap DR/250.2. Thanks Best wishes Amer

Would appreciate all of you to share the presentation of these two combinations, thanks!

Hello everyone, I have recently recapped my nac 32.5 for a secondary naim system. I would like to buy a power amplifier to pair to my preamp. At the moment I prefer without a dedicated power supply. Probably, in that case, 32.5+hc+250 was the best solution, but too expensive.. What do you think about nap 140 cb? best regards, mark

Hello all, My kit is 282.hcdr.250dr and I do not have a naim source connected to it. How good it the stage line? I am currently using a project carbon debut with built in phono stage and it is ok for the price, not bad at all in some ways, but I have one question about the stage line How does one achieve signal grounding with the stage line? (right now I run a wire from earth post of 282 into mains earth) Also how good is the stage line when compared to other entry level phono stages like...

Possibly silly question but if using only the spdif output would my CD5 XS still benefit from an external psu? Reference manual in 12.3 states 'The CD5 XS output stage can be upgraded . . . addition of an external Flatcap or Hi-Cap . . . .' . Perhaps this suggests that such an addition would only improve the analogue and not improve the spdif output. Does the spdif/analogue switch actually switch off the analogue section or just divert the digital signal away from it and simply present it on...

Hi everyone i bought my first hifi the other day ( superuniti and pmc twenty 23's) and I am trying to pave out the future of my system. Obviously a nap 200/250 would be a logical step next, however I am intregued as to how power supplies improve a system and how they are rated. Excuse my naivety on all this! so basically my question is, what effect do power supplies have on the sound? How are they rated in performance? many thanks Ryan

Hi my current setup is an all Naim setup except for a Linn Malik lp12 turntable that I bought recently from the local Linn dealer. During the installation the Linn dealer commented several times that I would be better off with a full Linn exakt akurate system with akudorik speakers. He then went on to price the system as a direct swap but I would have to TOP-up by several thousand pounds. My existing Naim setup is Naim Ovator s400s, NDS with a xp5s power supply, a Naim nac 282 and a Nap 252.

Hey everybody, I'm using a UQ2 as a streamer through the DAC V1 connected to a single NAP 100, feeding a pair of B&W PM1 speakers. I was just wondering on how to bi amp the speakers using 2 NAP100, i know well the amp was not designed to be bridged in mono. However, just want to know whether that's possible at all; instead of using the Qute to feed the Treble and the NAP100 to drive the bass drivers. So any thoughts of how one can have 2 NAP 100 in parallel driving 1 speakers each?

I've read some of the forum threads that mentioned ATC SCM19 speakers but couldn't find what I was looking for about what happens with ATC SCM19 speakers at lower volume levels. We recently showroom auditioned a pair of ATC SCM40 speakers and thought we'd found the perfect solution to replace our ageing but still competent Linn Keilidh speakers with Ku-stone bases. However, when the volume was turned down the sound became rather thin and not to our taste. This was with a 272 and 250DR...

Hello, I have recently bought 2 NAIM devices and would welcome thoughts on connectivity and CD player options. I have a DAC-V1, which I wanted to use to feed my growing digital music collection into via a dedicated Mac and then a couple of weeks ago after seeking a new Amp to replace my old MF X-A1 and planning to simply add a NAP-100 I walked out with a Supernait 2 after sampling various options from both NAIM and other manufacturers. The sheer scale and power it bought to things simply...

I have been buying Naim equipment for 32 years and feel it is time I must tell the forum of the amazing service I have received throughout this time, from Naim audio and my dealer Audio Excellence who are now Audio T. Nothing has ever been too much of a problem even when I have requested help over a trivial, no money, set up advise or an expensive upgrade, so I must put them forward for The Best UK Naim dealer award. Fantastic, thank you!!

Hello everyone, I would like the standard lenght of this cable (5din pin) and if available different prices for different lenghts. On ebay, for instance, I see 1.20m, 1.30m, 1.50m.. Thanks in advance. Best regards, Mark

I've just replaced what is a cheapo patch RCA between my phono pre-amp and my UQ2 with a Chord Cobra 3. Have to say I'm slightly disappointed. The difference was immediate, but if anything is duller to my ears than the £2 cable. I am going to try adjusting the VTF of my tonearm (a Project 9cc evo with a Dynavector 10x5) as I've got it at the top of end of the recommended range, to see if it brightens up. But yes, quite disappointed!

NDX vs. NDX/XPS2 I just got my NDX connected to SN2 3 days ago. Given the mixed opinion on this subject, I would to ask those who actually tried the comparison themselves. In the context of NDX, is the improvement justifiable to the cost for an XPS2 to you or you are happy to enjoy NDX without XPS2? mant thanks.

Hello all, This is my first post. I was a very loyal Cyrus user - until my Dacxp+ and cdxtse2 went wrong for the third time. The dac having developed a static/crackling fault and the CD player skipping and failing to eject discs. So, having returned the units again, I was very kindly lent a 272, which hooked up to my Cyrus Mono x300s and Vienna Acoustic Baby Grands sounds amazing (using tidal and Iradio). However, when my cd transport eventually returns from Cyrus, can you please help me by...

New to audiophile, used low end marantz for quite long time. recently, thinking of an upgrade. then made an order on supernait2. After that just found out supernait 2 can not be directly connected to a turntable, it requires a phono stage. so I have couple questions need your help. 1. if i purchase a naim stageline, do i need extra psu for it? if so, it will go beyond my budget. 2. if i use other brand phono stage, i want to confirm i can directly connect the phone stage to supernait 2 aux1,...

I am interested in and considering the purchase of the Pro-Ject VC-S, at £300 it looks like good value compared to the competition. Has anyone any experience of this new machine? Thanks

I have recently upgraded from a Nait XS + Hi Cap to a NAC282 + NAPSC + Hi Cap + NAP250. All has been good for a few weeks now but so far I have only been using digital sources via a DAC. This morning I decided to crank up my LP12. With the Nait XS + Hi Cap, I had the LP12 connected via Stageline into "Aux2 In & Power" and all was good. Now, however, with the Stageline connected to "Aux2 In & Power" on the NAC282, I am getting a signal from the LP12 but the volume is very very low,...

received my supernait 2 amplifier. it works much better than my original marantz pm 6004. But i notice the power cord plug is quite loose, not fully tighted on the rear panel. I just wonder is it normal. Thank you very much.
