A late 84 Naim 32 with a Hicap or a late 80s 72. Both sound very good. I cant tell which I prefer. System is a 1984 CB250 /CDS2/SBL. The 32 breathes a bit better with a flatter more analogue sound, but the 72 has better bass and grip with a slightly warmer presentation. Which is the better preamp? Which should I keep?

Ovators S-400s arrived today for a 10-day home demo session. Supposed to be demo speakers, but.... Got a pair of brand new ones instead. Grrrrr....  The delivery also contained a Black Temple of Naim - Super Lumina speaker cables (3 meter runs). Also brand new. Things are sounding a bit crude at the moment....   Let's hope the speakers loosen up by the weekend.  Will be performing some voodoo magic on them tomorrow, to speed up the burn in process.  Will be reporting on...

My contribution to the growing number of reviews and experiences Switched to SL from Hi Line on my NDS. Out of the box a bit thin and glassy but within 48hrs it has just opened out and, frankly amazed me. I'm not greatly analytical about HiFi reviews etc but it just gives more of everything and feels fast, neutral and incredibly 'open'. Some treble harshness has gone from my sound that nothing else has managed to fix and what really impressed me was how I have played some complex or...

I recently noticed a degradation in sound from one speaker and needed (for the first time ever) to move the balance to regain a centralised image. My initial thoughts were that the 250.2 or 282 needed a 10 year recap but the sound continued to worsen over a month until there is now nothing at all from the tweeter in question. What puzzles me is that if I push the tweeter dome lightly while playing a track, the sound comes back to a more expected standard. To a non-techie like me this would...

I am just wondering if anyone here has tried any attenuators on naim gear? In particular, between the pre-amp and power amp (or power supply). In my case it would be due to the high gain of the system and my need to often listen at low levels. Are there even any available that work with naim gear, or do custom cables have to be used? (the less changes I would have to make the better as I want SQ affected as little as possible) I have seen the ones from Rothwell, but they are only RCA and XLR.

I have a Uniti2 and a pair of IBL's with a subwoofer. I have an opportunity to buy a pair of BC3's for about Aus$1500. Is this a wise move? Will my amp handle them. Any help appreciated. Magnolia

A recent house move has meant my x2 8 metre Nac A5 speakers leads are way too long and SWMBO is moaning they make the lounge look like a hi-fi demo room. My original plan was to halve them and sell on x2 4m leads however here's a thought, would it be worth making the jump up to the SL cable considering the rest of the system? My system has never sounded better since the house move so this would be icing on the cake so to speak. Any thoughts anyone? (System = LP12, NDX, Nac 52 and Nap 135s...

Unpackaging and Swissvaxing Final installation Cables run decently behind After the282 departure, i was planning an upgrade to 252 when my dealer offered an ex demo 552 (very scarce opportunity on our shores) At the beginning it was meant to be a late 2012 unit, but last week he called me telling .. "I have a surprise for you, I' m packing up the 552 and the psu is already DR ! " An hour later he popped in at my workplace with the "beast" Once at home, for a few adverse circumstances on "Une...

evening enlightened ones. I have enjoyed the Dac V1 Nap 100 combo hugely. I added the highline with great results and Roon via a headless Mac mini has been a joy, the music poring out of the sublime eclipse TD510z is fantastic. However upgradeitis has set in and I'm thinking of swapping for a Superuniti which would have the added benefit of bringing the turntable out of retirement from the loft and only one box too but, I would loose Roon. I am looking at new with a trade in of my old kit.

Hi everyone. I have a UQ with Credos currently. I went to my Naim dealer today and bought the Muso QB for work and listened to the Muso for the first time. I was pretty impressed and in many ways I preferred it to my current set up. Is it possible that my Credos are not matched well for the UQ? Should the UQ be quite a bit ahead over the Muso? Ken

A quick share for anyone looking for tt to phono stage to pre-amp interconnects. After reading about it here and elsewhere, I ordered some Mogami 2534 and 2549 in RCA/RCA for my Simplex/P75 and an RCA/DIN to take it to my 282. I'd also ordered a Witch Hat RCA/DIN. Existing string was, um, Monster.. First I tried the RCA cables to phono pre. Very significant jump in detail and weight without being too harsh/bright. Lovely tight bass. Vocals, in particular, became more forward and distinct.

As above please. I don't have the link plug or a snaic but I have the din to RCA for my nap 100. What else would I need? Reason I ask is that I've been told is need to add a hicap or a CB nap 140 for example and that it won't work with a nap 100. Thanks.

I understood that the latest Powerline EU are now equipped with the Furutech FI-E38 (R) Schuko connector that has replaced the FI-E35 (R) model in the manufacturer line quite some time ago. What are, in the view of Salisbury and of others, the evolution and improvement brought by the FI-E38 (R) and for what effect on overall SQ? If substantial, should we think of replacing or retrofit our continental Powerlines? Chag –

i have a few lp12's that are warped to Buggery, and while I'm unsure how this phenomenon has occurred, it's most annoying as it causes the stylus to skip on my lp12. I've done some research and aware you can use the glass and oven method but this seems a bit precarious to me. Is there an official device you can buy to sort the damaged records? Annoyingly it's some of my favourite ones that are affected too. Thanks gents.

Hi I know there has been a lot of words written on this subject but I am slowly getting despondent. I love the Naim sound and upgrade paths but I ask for advice. I have the following set up, NAP200, NAC202, HI Cap and NAPSC, Rega RP8 and Stageline. The NAP200 and HiCap buzz like crazy. I have had to disconnect HICap and NAPCS as it is too loud. I borrowed a Isotek Aquarius to see if that would help but no change. Any advice would be appreciated

I've just upgraded my turntable from an RP3 to a Project 2Xperience SB. I've also got a Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 phono stage between the turntable and my UQ2. At the moment, I'm actually running the (what looks like a decent) cable that came with the turntable to the Gram Amp, but a basic throwaway patch cable for the final link. What kind of cable ball park am i in here? I've also got a Dynavector 10x5 cart on the deck, so the only bottlenecks I can see are the cables, and just maybe also the...

For the last week or so I have found that my NAC552 will only play the CD in channel input intermittently. When the fault occurs, there is a signal in the system but I can only just hear this when I turn the volume up fully. Just a faint sound can be heard. I thought I had fixed this, or it had fixed itself a few days ago when I first noticed this. I re-mapped the 552 inputs, exchanged hi-line for standard IC, powered down for each change and then went t back to Hi-line. After numerous power...

Hello Everyone New to the forum, so excuse me if this is has been done before. I've currently got a Naim AV2 and 2 x Nap 150X. I only use it for 2 channel listening. I understand that the AV2 is not the best option for this set up, so I was looking for help as to the best way to upgrade. I would like to use the 2 Nap 150x in a bi amp config and wanted your advice on which pre amp to pair with them. I would also look to adding a flatcap in the near future. My main source components are a Rega...

Hi all I tried to experiment with ground switchs of my ndac and qute2 to see if there is any difference in sound with various combinations. The system is qute2->ndac/xpsdr 282/hcdr/250dr/ totem hawks (nothing else is connected currently to the system although i own other sources) I had always ndac and qute2 on chassis setting. In theory -as i understand it- the optimal solution is ndac (analogue connection to pre) on chassis and qute2 on floating. So I tried it for a few days but didnt...

Hey Guys, Ive purchased my system recently and today i connected everything up and I am getting no audio or extremely low volume from both channels. I have double checked all connections and Ive spoken to the dealers from whom I purchased the equipment and as far as they can tell including myself everything is connected correctly. I cannot take all the components to the dealers that I purchased from as they are several hundred miles from me. Local dealers do not wish to assist without...

Hi, just wandering which IC you are using between NDS and the pre amp? I am using a Hiline at the moment on my 2 weeks old NDS, but is it really a big step soundwise going up to Sarum or SL?
