While few will contest the supremacy of the 552, except for the S1, we all know that most preamps differ in their presentations. This is certainly the case for the 252 and 552. From the point of view of the classical music avid (and more than occasional jazz) listener: Do you still favor 552 over 252 hands down or could it be a matter of taste? Chag

hi I have been following and observing numerous comments re the 272 v SU- I have the SU hooked to a 250-2 - Cd5xs & Unitiserve and the sound is sublime. I tried and the demo,d the 272 and IMO there was virtually no difference and my SU brought the best out of my other units and music...Chris S

Hi Forum, I am wondering what would be the best order to connect the AC mains leads, on dedicated single sockets on a spur. This would be for a Nap 200, Napsc, Hicap2, cd5, Flatcap2 . What should be fed first?. Regard's Pieman.

Given the context of my current system --> NDX [PowerLine] [StillPoints]-> DC1-> Berkeley Alpha DAC [PowerLine] [Still Points] -> ArSound Lunar -> SN2 [PowerLine] [Still Ponits] --> HicapDr [PowerLine] [Still Points] --> NACA5 --> S400 + REL G2 Which upgrade is likely to produce the greater positive impact on a per $ basis? 1. SL speaker cables 3m 3,500$ 2. NAP250DR + additional stand level 7,500$ (I am completely unable to audition any Naim products prior to...

Look at it sitting there . All cute and handsome. Expensive but now even more so as it has a cd collection within it that costs a lot more. I don't worry about backing up . I don't have a NAS. it hasn't given the slightest suggestion of going back to Naim since I've had it for so . Apart from when my network is off its always there to give me what I want. I can appreciate all what's ever been said about it .. But isn't it the best product ever from Naim within a conceptual perspective ?

Have recently redecorated lounge and new carpet. New system coming soon - Spendor D7 . I noticed the dealer user Granite under the demo speakers and wondered if this might be a good idea purely because I don't really want to send spikes down through my nice new carpet ! Seen these at Tesco for £14 each

Hi Forum ! i would be very interested in finding out when you experienced the greatest improvement in bass control while upgrading. Would the electronics be top - preamp or amp - or would the cabling have most of the effect - or even the power cable ? Can we say that most upgrades will provide 'more' bass - but not always 'better bass' ? Couple of thoughts already to spice up the conversation : - Source Power Supply : the effect of the XPS gives more bass but not necessarily better bass...

I have the opportunity to acquire this CD player and have two linked questions. Firstly, I could add a PS to the mix within my budget, should I aim for the Hi-cap Dr or save my pennies elsewhere and go for Flatcap. Can someone explain the sonic differences? Secondly, and possibly alternatively if I have to spend big here, i could utilise the digital output of the CDxs 5. Naim suggest doing this via an external DAC, but I already have a 272 pre-amp. Would an external DAC beat the 272 for SQ...
Belfast TaxmanPosted: 11 March 2016Last Updated: 11 March 2016
Of these three, based purely on SQ and not on what they do, which is the winner and why? I have searched for a similar thread and whilst one or other have been talked about many times before, I have not found a direct SQ comparison of all three in bare format ( without nDac or Xps2 which I am sure would improve all three to a certain extent).

Nearly had a heart attack today shopping for a new belt for my LP12. I was expecting to pay 15-20 quid fir it but apparently some "authorised" dealers are asking £50 for a piece of rubber. Why has it gone sky high? Is there any new technology behind its elasticity, gravitational spin that make it so special?

Hi i am lucky enough to have a Naim system with a NAC-N 272 FM/DAB plus 200ds operating speakers in one room and a Unitiqute operating speakers in another room. The two units are placed adjacent to each other and are connected to a high quality rooftop FM /UHF aeriel using a splitter behind the two units. I presume, therefore, that they are both receiving the same signal. The system with the NAC-N 272 FM/DAB gives superb reception on FM and DAB (and also with iRadio using a wired connection...

My (heavy) 250.2 went away for its DR upgrade today, for at least 3 weeks. So it's back to the old olive 250 (serviced in 2014).   What can I expect when the 250.2 returns with the new bits inside?

Hi - my first posting so please be gentle as I know this has been covered before but am still struggling. Have been using an Nait XS for a while but had always fancied trying out a pre/power. Anyhow, I obtained a 150 and at the weekend obtained a second-hand NAC 202 with NAPSC. All appears to be properly connected, though I could be wrong. However, all I get is the notorious flashing mute button. Looking at earlier threads there is a suggestion that the NAPSC is faulty, but I would like to...

Naim have been informed by one of their dealers of a possible fraudulent transaction involving an ex-dem NAP250 that they sold back in January. If you or anyone you know is offered this amp (s/n 358753) then please contact Steve Hopkins at Naim Audio ASAP on info@naimaudio.com . Needless to say, this incident only underlines the need to be very cautious when selling any piece of secondhand Naim to somebody you don't know. As Sergeant Esterhaus used to say, "Let's be careful out there". Thank...

So I happened across a second hand deal for a 152/155 XS and I'm wondering if it's worth pulling the trigger on. I haven't heard that combo before but a separate pre/power has always been interesting. Current system is a Rega RP6/fono/unitiqute 2/PMC DB1i Eventually I'd get an ND5 XS to complement it, but use the qute as a source in the meantime. Worth entertaining the idea or not?

Opportunity knocked a couple of weeks ago to home dem a brand new 250DR using my SN2 as pre . In many ways I believe in keeping an integrated amp just that but after a couple of positive reports I thought I'd give it a go . Even from cold its impact was immediate , all of a sudden everything became more alive and involving . The control the 250DR has over my PMC's is incredible with speed and almost total silence between notes . The most important thing is that I've probably had the most...

Had my 272 for almost a month now and last week I added a Stageline line input via the DIN (which may have nothing to do with things). Today, and totally out of the blue, the 272 repeatedly goes into Mute mode without me telling it to. This, so far, only happens with the Analogue 1 (the DIN phono input) in operation. Before I revert to my dealer, any suggestions as to what the cause is and what can be done about it.

Just taken delivery of a nac 282, Nap 250Dr, Hicap Dr to accompany my cdx2 and Sopra2's which were purchased end of last year. Set everything up last night with the assistance of my super intelligent son in law, left boxes to run through the night....all seems very good initially, I'm told the new boxes take a little time to run in... not sure how long?......I've previously been using the supernait ...which certainly worked, but I'm hoping now to be able to hear the full potential of the...

I have been recording vinyl to digital using a Stageline into an A to D convertor. I have upgraded my A/D convertor to a Lynx Hilo. There is a option to set the line in trim. For best results this should match the maximum output trim of the preamp, in this case the Stageline. Does someone know what this value is? I cannot find it in the documentation. They value should between +22dBu to 0dBu.

I am thinking about changing from my 10 year old Arcam Solo. Since the purchase of a airDAC I never use CDs directly rather I rip lossless and stream. So I kind of object to paying for something I will never use. For the price of a Uniti I could get Uniti Qute, NAP 100, 2 x Power Line. I would appreciate some guidance on what would be the better system. Ta

I currently using my Qute as only a digital source. It feeds an external DAC ( Schiit Gungnir MB). I really like this configuration, except that it seems quite wasteful. I'd love to replace the Qute with something that is as good a digital transport.  I don't need to upgrade this, literally same quality would be great.  I want to move my Qute to my TV system where i would utilize it's excellent amp/dac     I have tried a Squeezebox Touch in place of the Qute, but the Qute...

Hi Folk's I have a bit of a problem. I have up graded from a nait xs and nap 155xs . To a nac 202 and a nap 2oo (not RD) The problem is the sound stage has got a lot smaller and the base is very heavy duty ( If that makes sense.) I have neat speakers proto-types called ks1. Which have 2 ports one of which i have had to put a bung in to help reduce the base, but the base is still to much. I never had any problems with the xs and nap xs . I hope some one can help. My system consists of :...

Hi there, I have just acquired a NAC 112 and looking for some advice how to connect a Hicap, I can't see anything in the manual. I know these are designed for Flatcap2 but I happen to have a spare Hicap and wondered if that can connect? Help appreciated, thanks!
