I would like suggestions to best upgrade my Rega Exact MM to a MC Cartridge. I have Rega Aria Phono Amp and want to max out my capacity with best value MC upgrade. Photos of current sustem are on my profile page
The latest RAJAR radio listen data was released yesterday. Make what you will of the numbers: the decline in FM is more or less balanced with the increase towards DAB, but that is not so straight forward as the biggest increase is on-line (www) radio. I expect the move to DAB will increase in the future as the transmitter area expansion program is due to be completed Sept. 2016. This will bring DAB area coverage to be =/> to FM. I have no news...
I recently heard the ProAc D48R and was really very impressed by it. What are peoples thoughts on ProAc and how it ranks as a speaker in a NAIM system? Am also very curious about D30R as it is not quite as dear..
I run a basic XS system with a Flatcap Xs, Nait Xs and a CD5 Xs. The CD5Xs has gone back to the factory to have a problem sorted out and I have been loaned a CD5i-2. After playing a lot of music over the weekend I am amazed that I cannot tell the difference between the players, the CD 5XS and Flatcap, against the Cd5i - 2. When I consider the price differential between the two I am surprised and I begin to question my initial judgement, should I have originally purchased the cheaper player...
As a Superline owner I have long been waiting for this cable to become available for audition. I was in email conversation to Roy George last February, when I was informed Naim hoped to have them available in a few weeks. Nothing has happened since. Last week a friend sent me a copy of the July-Sept edition of HIFI Critic which has a followup review of the Statement. In the review Martin Collums stated that at the time of writing supply of the cable "looked unlikely to be available (due to a...
Hello, I have an oldier Naim system -CDS, 52, 135, DBL- and would be interested to have some feedback about the benefits of the SL Din-Din interconnect in such a system or with oldier bumpers. Thank you
So I've just spent a lovely day with the similarly afflicted, messing about with Hi-fi kit, eating lunch and generally having a super time. Every time we've got together I always find time rushes by, in the company of really nice folk. Yes, we're all bonkers but in a nice way! Attendees, from the left, Darke Bear (Gary), Minh, Foot Tapper (Ian), J.N. ,and myself, looking a bit distorted (it's the wide-angle lens, honest!). We listened to various stuff on Melco (it's a winner, is that) &...
Hi there If one were to choose between a new SN2 and a NAC 200 + NAR 250 ( non DR ) ( pre loved with Hi Cap DR ) - what would it be. I am hoping the seller ( of the NAC 202 + NAR 250 non DR ) would match the price of a new SN2. I would not have a chance to upgrade the NAC 202 for a few years since i would have emptied out my bank and all the good will at home that any new purchase would be deemed as marching orders for me My source is a CD5XS and a Technics SL1210 TT running into Nait...
I just gave my Nait 5 a static shock and now the one channel is blown (at least I think it's blown - super loud electrical hum sound?). Luckily my new used Headline seems fine. Although interesting you can hear faint static filled sound through the headline with the amp turned off. I had been toying with a service / recap anyway. Does anyone know if Plurison is still the place to go in Canada for Naim service? Thanks in advance!
Dear Naimers, My dealer made me an offer for a brand new UL @ € 2200. My current system is Nait 5 i , Nad C546 (with usb input for mp3/wma) and MA Gold 100. Besides the obvious pluses (better optical source?, included dac, optical ports, BT, flac support, fewer cables and greater synergy?) should I expect a better sound altogether? How does the UL compare to 5 i , sound wise? I'm particularly interested in the amplification and the optical source sections. Thanks.
I got to hear one of these at Naim's HQ yesterday and to also compare it to the original Muso. The two definitely have a Naim like sound to them but do sound different. The original Muso is ported so that probably partly explains it. My wife actually preferred the Qb, I thought they were good in different ways. Qb (pronounced like the two letters, so "Q", "b", not "cube") sounded great! Most surprising to me was that I would not have expected such good results from a device...
A pair of Totem Metal speakers dropped into my lounge for a couple of hours today. Stunning musicality and emotional connection, not HiFi and the best speakers I've heard. Three of us sat gob smacked while Shelby Lynne was in the room with us. Thanks to Chris from Hidden Systems and Wim from Joenit. I wasn't looking for new speakers, but....
so, dear brethren, let us shun this Albigensian heresy of utilizing third party power cords for your Naim gear like, mea culpa, i am doing now having a Supra LoRad on my amp. ok, on a more serious note. PL, they say, helps to reduce noise from the mains and increase musicality altogether, right? and is that true?.. may everyone feel free to step forward and testify.
Thanks to a plethora of thoughts and recommendations by forum members over the years - and after a long weekend of research - I pulled the trigger on a s/h nDac last night. I purchased a s/h CD5XS last September and have greatly enjoyed the improvement on my system's digital side since then. Should have my rebuilt 82 back from AVOptions later this week. Everyone's opinion I dissected said the nDac was an improvement over the 5XS, whereas not everyone universally agreed a FCXS or HC improved...
My magnetic puck for the first time ever has fallen into the inside of my CD5 player. Will this damage the player, I cannot use it at the moment. How can I get the puck out, it seems to have lost some of its magnetic grip. Please don't say I am the first to do this. LOL.

In the late 80s I bought a 62/90 combination and used EPOS ES14 speakers. Then I got married, had kids, and it all ended up in the loft. Two years ago, I got the chance to get back into the HiFi, and my original system sounded less than ideal. Rather than servicing, decided to update. I now have a 202/150x into Dynaudio Focus 160s. I also have a non Naim PSU, so will skip over that on this forum. Don't want to be in trouble on my first post. I am broadly happy with the sound, and the latest...
It's new, it's different, it's better. But is it really? Is it better because others say it is? Is it just the new must-have box? It's interesting how certain products somehow capture the zeitgeist, bubble up to the top of the pond, and take on a life of their own. Then, a little later, once those who want it have it, and those who couldn't be bothered still can't, they start to sink again, only to be replaced by the next item we can't be without. Hifi fashion? Boot cut, skinny, carrot?
Hi everyone, this is my first post! Please can I get some valuable advice on whether I should upgrade my CD3.5 to a CDX? I have the opportunity to get a 2002 CDX for £600 (if I'm quick), but I am worried about serviceability. I used to own a CDS/CDPS and this 'died' so am cautious about buying old CD players. I enjoy my CD3.5 but it is not in the same league. Can someone suggest if the upgrade, given the age of the CDX, is a worthwhile one? Can Naim fix these if they go wrong? I will NOT be...

hi there, is a nap250dr a fair Match for the Magicos, paticularly the V2, please? Any comments welcome - The last forum contribution on this is some years old... S.
My digital front end is NDX into a Hugo TT (digital coax cable into the TT). My understanding is that theoretically one should run the TT in line level mode, but I personally find the output in line level mode a little much (granted one can manually adjust the volume on the TT... I know this). Volume is loud in this mode even with my 252 volume pot around 7:00... making fine adjustments to volume rather difficult. My preference is to run the TT with line level output off... setting the...
so finally I got the opportunity to listen to 272 at home with my 250 DR with a fellow forum member who will also post his findings First of all, I do have a 282/HCDR with Hugo, and I liked the 272 as a standalone unit musically, it was instantly likable from the first song. We didn't get time to test 272 vs 282, but I know how my 282 sounds, and I think Naim got the numbering very spot on. The preamp is about as good as a 282 to my ears, I really struggled to hear much of these "day and...
