Hey there, new owner of a Nait 5i (I think it is the older version, without the 1/2 jack in the front plate). I'm looking at upgrading my phono stage from the Bellari vp130 I'm currently using, and I was looking at a used Stageline (current version). Is my understanding correct that this is only possible with this particular amp if I supply power from an external supply ( iSupply, HiCap, FlatCap)? So $300-500 for a used Stageline + iSupply for ~225 or + HiCap (which ranges...
Am just getting into the serious hifi game, bought a Superuniti Plus Sonus Faber venere 3.0. Have been running it for a year now. I noticed that the at low volumes the midrange and lower range just doesnt have the oomph I am looking for. Not sure if its the amp or speakers. Option 1 Am looking to add a power amp , have the option of NAP 250.2 at 2K gbp or NAP200 at 1k GBP, both 6 years old ( Am out in dubai). Dont have the opportunity to audition both, will...
I need speakers for my new listening invironment, a room in about 6x4m. From the centre of the room, the celing is slightly lowered (loft). Speakers have to be placed about 1.7m from backwall, due to a staircase. I have put my eyes on the Focal Aria range. Hopefully someone have auditioned or even own Aria in a similar sized room and could tell me which model that probably would suit such room? By the esthetic, I prefer the 926 cause of less drivers, but also by size I guess. I know...

I have now installed a miniDSP 2x4, replacing a system where the sub was wired directly to the low level sub out of the amp. In the previous configuration, room correction was applied to the music files before they were streamed to the system. Now the files are left unaltered and the room correction is applied in the analogue feed to the sub. The New Configuration: NAS -> ND5 XS -> Nait XS -> Main Speakers -> miniDSP -> Sub (low level input) Advantages Signal to the main...
I have a NAC 282 with HCDR, and I can't see myself buying a NAC 552 at this time, with the world economy going south again, so was thinking of a NAC 52 Is it an upgrade compared to a good 282? How does it compare to a 252 and a 552? This was the best preamp that Naim made before the 552. But then so was the 72 and the 32.5 and then 12.... So not sure this logic applies. Or I could replace the HCDR with a SCDR
I took a change without auditioned first. Sold my XS and bought a second hand XS 2 (1,5 years old) To my huge surprise the XS 2 isway more laid back, the bass is weaker, not as much punch, smaller soundstage, less detailed and the PR&T is almost gone. Also I have to crank the volume knob higher up to get the same amount of volume. The XS 2 doesn't sounds broken or bad. But it doesn't sound as naim at all.Itsounds borring and it's not on par in any way with my old...
Current Naim system: NAP300-Dr; NAC252/SuperCap-DR; CDS3/NAP-555-DR & 2-Fraim towers, one for power supplies. Making additions to my equipment I'm trying to decide between NAC552, or NDS/NAP555-DR with plan to movemy CDs toNDS & use myCDS3 NAP555-DR for second power supply and in addition toadd in the NDSscenario Super Lumina speaker cables & Super Lumina Interconnects. Will NDS with 2 NAP 555-DR & SL cables & interconnect add to...
Does anyone have experience using a MiniDSP 2x4 (or similar) in a Naim system? I'm investigating the use of MiniDSP for integrating my two sub-woofers with the main speakers and room, but I'm worried that the presence of this tiny box between FCXS out and NAP in will degrade the sound quality. Has anyone successfully used one of these in their system? Thanks!
Picked up a 2-year old NAC 282 for less than the 1/2 price of a new one. Whilst waiting for it to be delivered I'm starting to ponder which NAP should I go for? I do realise it is a thread as old as anyone can remeber, but perhaps some fresh thoughts, suggesstions, experiences? And by the way - HiCap DR or SuperCapDR? Adam
Greetings, I thought it would be of value in sharing my experience so that anyone in a similar position may draw some insight. After home demoing these some 8 eight months ago in the quest for better speakers - mission accomplished? Buying experience This was brilliant, for what could have been a daunting and fraught experience of: buying via phone and web from a dealer c140 miles away, and taking the ex demo condition on faith. Not to mention, courier delivery and pick up of my GB1is in...
Just interested in peoples experiences of Harbeth speakers. I'd always assumed they were a bit ' Pipe & Slippers' but they seem to be very well regarded and i don't see them mentioned much here or in the fishy place. James
Ok I am having a bit of an upgrade itch for my vinyl playback and would like some thoughts on the subject. my current system is: Rega RP3 Elys 2 Cartridge Stageline N preamp Supernait 2 Focal Aria 936 speakers I tried the rega phono mm put found that it had great clarity but lacked the warmth of the Naim Stageline. I was wondering if I could get some better High tones changing the cartridge, would it be worthwhile? I was thinking of a linn adikt or orthfone 2m black. Any...
Has anybody used 2 highcaps to run a 282 ,and if so what difference did it make adding the second one?
I understand that a cap can be introduce to the system for upgrades however can I connect my ND5XS digital out to Naim DAC or DAC-V1 to take advantage of an individual DAC for better SQ? Is it meant to be used this way? If it does will I get a significant increase in SQ? And adding a XPS to the Naim DAC in the future will I get even better SQ? Newbie to Naim and just thinking about future possible upgrades.
If I were to change from my Nait XS to a SuperNait what would I notice?
Gpod afternoon, simple question I hope! I have tried a 272 plus existing 150 at home and tried the NDX in the shop. Preference was NDX over 272, bit more separation, but I enjoyed both. Other possible option is 272 plus ex demo 250 but not heard this set up yet. I know i need to try at home which is being arranged but any one have any views if 272/250 would be a big leap over NDX and my existing amplification. 250 would be pushing budget some what! Kind regards and thank you in...
i have a Uniti 2 and I'm considering adding a TT for fun mostly. Streaming is my main source but for fun spinning some vinyl is on my radar. I don't want to over do it but something that is on par with my U2. Thinking Rega 3 or 6. Any other recommendations? What about Naim Stageline N? Overkill or is there something else to consider? TIA
I recently acquired some SBLs in excellent condition with mark 2 drivers. I took a lot of care to set them up correctly with new gaskets and metal tabs, and they are sealed correctly. The amps are Naim 42.5, Hicap, 140 (I prefer the Chrome Bumper sound). Everything is correctly set up and recently serviced. My main source is vinyl via LP12, Kore, Ekos mark 1, Klyde (I will be getting the Krystal soon), Lingo mark 1. I have lived with my Kans Mark 1 for 30 years from new...
We're going to be getting some pretty substantial work done on our house this year. This will include demolishing and rebuilding the rear extension and further opening out the rear lower floor into an extended open plan kitchen/dining and living space. On completion the HiFi will be moved from the front lounge into the rear living area which will be approx 6m x 5m with folding/sliding doors along the 6m side. The side opposite the doors will be open to the kitchen/dining area so the total...
My current system comprises my NAC52, NAP123s in to SBLs and fronted by an LP12/Ittok/17D3/Prefix. The 52 powers the Prefix. I'm about to change my LP12 for a WT Versalex and a decision regarding my phono stage. Can I remove the Prefix from the LP12 and retain it as a phono stage externally to the WT Versalex? Is the Prefix superior to internal phono cards for the 52 or should I just look for a new phono stage? Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Pete
I'm making plans for "upgrading/modernizing" my system and I've started to think at the way I listen to music. I mainly listen to classical and never really go beyond 8 or 9 on my 202/200 set-up. So the question is, will there actually be a real difference between 202/200/HC/NAPSC (from about 2006) , SN2, SU, or even 272 with 250DR? Speakers are Nsat-Nsub. Thanks
I mean will anyone be interested in these in 5 years? Assuming Naim re-do the preamplifier line up at some stage it seems to me that XPS type supplies are the way to go. Can't see Naim bringing out preamp replacement models without on board streaming capability. Can you?
Very excited - just paid the deposit on a mint serviced pair of 135's to replace my 250 (following the recommendation of several forum members last year). Looking forward to hearing the difference in my system. Will post findings.
