And I would post you a picture, but any orientation of the (portrait format) photo in Dropbox appears in landscape format when I post the link here.  What gives? BTW - in the spirit of a post-pub rant, the marketing gods in Salisbury should remember that this motley bunch of geeks are your brand's most powerful advocates and deserve whatever it costs/takes to produce a usable software platform for the forum.

It is now four years since I purchased my first Nain system. NDX/Nait XS/Spendor s6e speakers. Since then I have upgraded the amp to Supernait 2 and the Speakers to Proac D30R. I use the standard Nain interconnect and NAC 5 cable. I have really enjoyed this system. My reason for choosing Naim was for the Prat factor which it certainly is provided by this system. However there is one slight issue I have had all along is that there seems to be a slight hard edge to the sound somewhere in the...

When my new 'office' is finished, my hifi will move there soon after. As the new room is a blank canvase I can have the dedicated mains for the hifi in any location.  My question is where is best for the boxes? Centre or off to one side?

I've had the SL speaker cables in my system for seven months now and started to become rather bored with the SQ of my system. I thought it might be due to the fact the system was overdue a rebuild. This I did and, whilst it improved the sound, the pace and attack that I've always loved in my system, particularly on the vinyl side, was still missing. I replaced the SL cables with the old NACA5 and the PRaT was back in spades with a return of the goosebumps. Change in resolution? Yes there is...

Hi, just wondering what my chances are of finding a NAC52 for sale without a Supercap. Is that going to be difficult since most seem to be sold as a set.

I can see that the product support specifications page for the classic DAC now references the DSD support via S/PDIF and USB, however the same is not true with the DAC-V1 product specifications page, there is no mention of DSD there... This is causing me a bit of a challenge with some tech support forums where the technicians are claiming that DAC-V1 does not support DSD.... Hope Naim folks can update the product page to reflect this capability.

I noticed a random "click" or "pop" sound that happens only while playing back DSD files, the closest I can describe it to is the sound that a Vinyl record would make when the needle hits a spec of dust or a tiny scratch. It happens once or twice in any given track... This NEVER happens in any of the FLAC files (all lossless) that I play regardless of resolution (I have everything from 44.kHz1 to 192kHz FLAC files). Does anyone else have the same symptom? For reference, I use Roon for...

Got a great deal for a second hand Hi Line interconnect. Demoed it at my dealer and liked the fact that it brings smoothness and a wider sound stage to my system (ND5XS + NAIT XS2). So bought it home had it run a good few days and noticed the mid range got too smoothen out which made vocals and treble sounds too different from the original grey lavender cable.  I switched back to the grey lavender then I started to love the music again. Then I realise that I liked the original cable...

Reading round and prepared to take a punt for £200 plus twenty per cent ... I decided to take a gamble on the HD 600 - and all the internet reports say that it takes a good week of continuous running for them to sound decent. Not so. Less than five minutes and they are the best sounding transducer I ever used. So I presume that the improvement generally suggested means that there [yet] is nothing better! According to the internet then a simple Denon Headphone amp cannot drive them. Rubbish.

I like to look at what's inside all the boxes, either from what's been released by the manufacturer or from reviews, and pretty much all of Naims boxes has some number of images of internal components.. Except the CD555.    Yes there is images of what's in the power supply and I think there was one of the underside of the top section showing the calibration system for the door put on this forum.  So what is going on in that big box ?

A brief note to thank Tony M, J.N. and Jon Honeyball for popping round today to spin a few discs and to listen to some old, some new, some remastered and some blue tunes. But mainly thanks for helping out with the mountain of olives, pesto, sandwiches and cakes, plus fruit for those of a healthy disposition. The CD player enjoyed the marvellous Eric Clapton Slowhand 70th Bithday concert CD (thanks, Jon) while the Vertere turntable managed to drag its needle effectively through most of the...

Have tried a lot of different chord interconnects such as Crimson, Cadenza, Chorus 2 and Chorus Reference - all very good sounding cables in my system. Also tried Anthem 2 and Signet but they killed the PRaT and was to my taste way to laid-back sounding although very impressing in HiFi terms.  So recently I tried the grey standard interconnect for the first time. WOW it sounds damn good. Not as much punch in the bass as the chord cables but extremely musical and way better PRaT. I...

A light hearted question for Saturday evening: Why does the CD555 allow the remote to open the top door?  If you are near enough to change the CD, surely you can press the button on the top.... and why is there a motion sensor to close it?  Could this be of any use to anyone??!

I wonder if there is established wisdom on this. I was thinking of the following order from top down: nDAC, 52, 135, 135, PS555, Supercap. Any advice?

With all the talk on various threads regarding people's frustrations of missing burndy cables in new 300DRs, I'm afraid I would now be facing the sack!! I borrowed an XPS (non DR) when I installed my 272/250DR and ran it for a few weeks. When I decommissioned it I didn't feel the step down in SQ justified the price of the power supply. However, after a month of listening to the system without the XPS I have started to feel that I am missing it more than I initially thought. My dealer kindly...

Hi guys, I bought a s/h mint Nait XS about 4 months ago. Sounds great and my plan was to find a s/h ND5xs to go with it, but... just as I experienced with a Nait 5si two times in 2014, it suffers from an annoying transformer hum, every now and then. I know that it's not a defect of the amp itself. It's mains polution that's to blame! (I installed the amp at a friends house and it has been deadly quiet for a week!) The humming occurs a few times a day, in time laps of appr. 10 to 30 minutes.

A very lazy and sociable afternoon saw me sat with my dealer auditioning speakers as a potential upgrade to my Dali's - We started with the AE Radiance, moved on to the Precision 6.2LE and finished on the Neat Motive SX1s - WOW! 2 hours later I was convinced I needed to upgrade. If I make the switch to floorstanders, which if I am going to upgrade to a 272/250 I will need to do, they need to be compact and relatively unobtrusive. Played back through a UQ/100, they sounded amazing, they...

I have a NAC282, SuperCap.DR, DAC-V1, NAPSC and a NAP250.DR system and just got 2 Powerlines on demo to try out. What would you suggest could be the best approach in order of priority to start? eventually I figure I will have all four units (DAC, NAP, NAPSC and SC) on PLs, just not sure in which order, any thoughts?

I am contemplating changes to my system. Currently I run a 52 with a (olive) SuperCap into a 300, which will shortly be DR'd. My SuperLine has a 5/6 year old SuperCap (i.e. non-DR version). The 52 has been upgraded to the latest specification, but the SuperCap has not been touched since the (very late) 1990s. I know that my next improvement should be to get a 552, but the need for a new knee wiped out that fund. I was wondering whether anyone powers, or powered, their 52 via a DR'd SuperCap?

I have for sometime now been enjoying the exuberance of my 282 which improved further a couple of years ago when I upgraded my Hicap (non DR) to a SupercapDR. I went for a SupercapDR rather than DRing the Hicap as I suspected that sometime in the future I might upgrade to a 252. As my trusty dealer has just taken in a 252 of about the same vintage as my 282 (2011), the time has now arrived to try out the 252. I have often seen on here the 252 be described as 'grown up', indeed my dealer...

Hi Folks, How does a great story starts?  A new NDS, new 555PS DR and new full-loom SL cables arrived. The speaker cables came first, it was a big difference in SQ, it seemed that every bit of the music is extracted and it was good, I loved the SQ and decided it worth the money. Then the XLR cables came and at the beginning it was a disappointment; the lively sound has stumbled. However it kept improving over time and after 2 weeks the bass became much deeper...
