Hi Guys I am currently running 272/555ps+300+CD555/555ps+SL2+Highline+Powerlines. Need to borrow your wisdom and make a decision. Do I change my 272 to a 252/SC and add NDS? Or do I get DR upgrade to all my boxes first? Which one would give me more SQ improvement? Thanks.

can anyone tell me if i put my cdx2  on a piece of marble on top of my oak rack will it improve the sound

After a couple of weeks hunting around I've managed to get hold of a Snaxo 2-4, HiCap2, Nap 250.2 and two 3 meters runs of Naca5. It took a couple of hours stripping everything down this afternoon but now everything is settling down nicely. I have a CD5XS feeding an nDAC through Chord Indigo digital cable from the SPDIF out. I would like to upgrade my CD playing and first thought was 'CDX2 with SPDIF output'. (I also thought CD555, but that's where is stopped... at the £ thought ! ) Does anyone have experience of what the additional £2k cost of the CDX2 brings to the sound quality of the digital output into an nDAC, compared to the CD5XS ? (or is the extra cost all about the quality of the analogue output of the CDX2?) Thanks, ...

Can the superline be powered by a Hicap. Cables any different from those needed by a Stageline? Can it be used out of the box with a MM? is it a good match for the RP6/Exact combo? Will it be an upgrade over a Stageline? In the context of a RP6/Exact?

..... would you take the same route to arrive at your present system? Lateral steps and mistakes along the way perhaps, but much value in the learning curve. Upgradeitis and haste can often trump logic. Useless rips, unforeseen cables required, and what not. For my part - I'd have placed my emphasis on racking, room treatment and cable dressing from the get-go, rather than dealing with it now. No way to truly evaluate system changes...

Hi, Can anyone help me understand the hierarchy of the chrome bumper era pre-amps please? I understand that the .5 designation on the 32.5 and 42.5 was an upgrade to use the dual rail on the HiCap? Of the 32/32.5, 42/42.5, 62, which is considered the best and why? Reason for asking is that I have a CB-NAP-250 bolt down and CB-HiCap, and I'd like a period pre-amp to go with them. Thanks

Hi Trying to find out how old my crossovers are. They don't have a little white sticker on them , just one blue and a yellow circular sticker with 708 709 on them respectively . They are 1988 SBLs. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, I have a small dilemma, to upgrade my current 250 to a 250DR, OR, for similar money, upgrade to a used NAP300 (with option to get DR'd at a (much) later date when funds permit)? Has anyone else considered this route or been able to compare a 250DR v NAP300 - which I am now finding quite difficult to find a dealer who still has non-DR'd NAP300 on hand to do the comparison... FYI -  I use a 252/SCAP2DR with NDS/XPS2DR as source with SL interconnect, NAP250 (non DR) with Witch Hat DIN...

i was reading an article by Chris Frankland where he mentioned that Linn tested his ability to hear difference between LP12 and a Rega 3(i think). i may not have the story exactly correct. Just had the call from my friendly ho-fi dealer to get the 300 boxed and ready for collection and onward carriage to Naim. The DR upgrade is happening next week! If being without music for perhaps 3 weeks means that the 'new' system will be all that it has been suggested it will be then it will be worth having no music.  

I know of a bloke who has a pair of SBL's (from new) and he is selling them for 700 Pounds. Is that good value? I haven't had a chance to hear them yet but they are in mint condition.

My CDS3 has started skipping a few CDs again. It has got the newer transport (in 2012 if I remember correct). I know I can ship it to UK for a repair again, but I am tempted to convert to streaming audio now. Rip all my CDs and put them on the loft.  So I need your advice for my next move. Buy NDS (I already own 555/DR)? Buy Unitiserve, but whitch model?  HDD or SSD?  Or skip the US and rip directly on my old PC and a NAS? Other options (ideas) are welcome too!    ...

So it was quite late last night when I decided to remove/replace all of my cables.  The impact was amazing, the system was sounding good, very tight and controlled, but lacking some detail that it had revealed in the past.  OK, so it was late, and I was keen to hear this morning in case the improvement was imagined - but no!  Very detail and lively (active) presentation. Hi Folks, It would be great if someone could help me or has come accross this before. I was running my nait 5 in standard mode and then tried it with a with a flatcap2, listen to a few tracks and then I removed the flat cap and put the plugs back in the back of the nait5. The 2 plugs with the ribbon connecting input 4pin and signal B 4pin and the single plug into signal A 5pin, but the pre will not power, no lights. Hi Mates, Currently I have NDS+555PS  and SN2+HCDR driving a pair of C7ES3 and I like the sound these boxes can produce. Suddenly, I have chance to buy 3 years old 282/SC/250 amp set on the S/H market for good price. Unfortunately, as  home demo could hardly be arranged so I would like to know that the 'new' amp is reasonable investment to drive my lovely C7ES3 or it is just too much (too good)  for this speaker.   What sonic advantage can be expected (if any) ?

Hi forum. I have had to replace a tweeter on my SBL speaker's and thought that a damper of a block of metal would  be mounted on the original tweeter, but this was mounted on the cabinet enclosure instead at the rear of the tweeter? .any comment's?. Regard's Pieman    

Hi all,  I'm streaming Tidal and notice that at low volumes the quality is just so-so, but sounds incredible at 50-60% or so. Have you observed that the Mu-So has a "sweet spot"?    

When I had 282/scdr/250 I tried my old Hicap on the superline but didn't like the result though don't know if it was the hicap or putting the steel cased NAD tuner below the 250 that killed the involvement. Also, whlst powering the superline from the 282, I've tried various stacking orders (the NAD stayed on 2nd from top this time) and swapping 555ps, SC and 250 gave some very marked differences and a definite preference. I exchanged the 282 and CDX2 in the clean stack while I was at it and...
