Just received my new NAP300DR to pair with my 252DR, and guess what... There is no burndy cable in the box!! Seriously pissed off. Great QC Naim. I have contacted my dealer who promised to rectify the matter urgently but as I'm not in the UK it...

Hi all, Wanted to reply to a few old, locked topics on optimising the sound from one's Mu-so, as I've found that a small sorbothane disc under each corner (a four pack is available for about £5 online) helped very much to reduce the problems caused by the fact that the rigid bottom of the Mu-so is horrifically coupled to whatever surface it's on. I'm so pleased with the improvement that if I ever have enough space for a separates system again, I'll certainly never put spikes under speakers...

hello everybody and a happy new year from Bucharest! this turning of year brought me some extended listening session with 2 (already) classic Naim products: the NDX and the Nait XS2. as some of you know, (and is stated into the title of the thread) my own setup consists in 172+200DR+OvatorS400 speakers, with Naca5 cable and Fraim lite. for starters, i thought to give the NDX and XS2 a short warm-up before getting to some real comparisons and mixes, and i immediately noticed the following...

Hello all, my first post. CDS3/Hi cap/NAC82/NAP250DR/SBLs. I have read all the stuff about dressing cables, and a little about shortening, but here goes............I have my equipment mounted on a Tripod rack system, directly in front of 8 mains sockets on a dedicated spur. However I try to tidy all the cables, they are a mess. Simple solution is to cut all the mains cables down to 1 metre. I know that NAIM advise that 2 metre lengths are the optimum, but I am wondering that in a real world...

Highly recommended Trevor Cox asks whether compression can detract from our enjoyment of recorded music - does it matter that what we hear may not be the same as what the musicians heard in the studio? How important is high quality reproduction? He looks at attempts to make music recordings sound louder and louder (the so-called Loudness War) and asks whether anything is lost in the process. And he considers whether making audio file sizes smaller, so that they take up less space on portable...

Does anyone have experience with the Chord Anthem interconnect? (old black twisted model)  I once tried the Anthem 2 and thought that the naim prat was totally missing compared to the Chorus 2 and even Cadenza 2 which was much better in my opinion.

Well, I get a call from my local dealer saying his demo S400's are available to buy. I had said earlyer i was interested in trying them. So we agree a price subject to me being happy. I have B&W 683 S2's and after a difficult start when I switched to Naim from Arcam, this due to how bloody long it takes for Naim stuff to come on song!! I have been very happy with them, but have had a nagging doubt that more could be had from the rest of the setup. So, I go and pick them up...

Active Speakers, Without Built-in Amps Naim Ovator 800/600 DBL’S IBL’S NBL’S SBL’S LINN ISOBARIKS PMS/DMS When Active speakers are mentioned on the Forum, the above list immediately comes to mind, I’ve heard mention of the XD line from Dynaudio, Meridian's DSP range and the Exakt from Linn. Do they fit the above criteria, of not having built-in Amps? I'd be interested to see what Naim/Focal could do with a system built around active speakers without built-in amps, in which case one could...

I have trawled through the posts to little avail I have NAC 82 2 x HC 2x135 Mainly play LPs LP12/Ekos/Lingo/OC9 About to get turntable serviced and new cartridge I would like to know what sort of improvement the 282 would be over 82 - I am out of touch with all the 'black' equip I may consider a 282/SC if it would be worth considering - my alternative is probably to get all my existing equip serviced? I do not mind mixing olive/black - if it does not mind being mixed ? Can anyone give me a...

For many years now I've been using Naim IBL Mk1 speakers while my source and amplifiers have steadily improved. I love these speakers for the excitement and clarity they have provided. However just before christmas I popped into my local dealer to enquire about the cost and timing for the 250 DR upgrade. To be fair, it's not the first time they have suggested that I should look to upgrade my speakers before spending any more on the front end or amps. So we duly ended up spending half an hour...

Hi all. I jump in here once in awhile and enjoy the information freely given. My question is, I have a Rega Planar 3 circa 1989 with a RB300 arm, which I'd like to use again. Obviously, it would need a service, new cartridge (currently fitted with a Linn K5), my local dealer reckons the cartridge would need replacing, although it didn't have a great deal of use. My question is spend my money on a full service, or perhaps buy the RP1 performance pack, I'm gonna have to get a phone stage as I...

Hi,  I currently have Naim Allaes driven by my 11 year old NAP 200. I can't afford to stretch to a 250DR and it will be some time before I am able to make any more large hifi purchases , but I need to either service my 200, or consider changing up to a secondhand, but younger 250.2. Are there any Allae owners who have changed from a 200 to 250 who may be able to comment on any change in sound quality or character when making the change?  I'm trying to decide whether to stick with...

Morning all...thoughts appreciated here... Having recently moved house, I'm going to get a 2nd system. I am thinking of either going 272/250/XPS or KDS1/Supernait 2/hicap. I already have the KDS1 btw, so the first option could see it traded in.    I'm going to  to take the KDS1 along and have a listen to the various combinations. However what am dithering on is whether to keep my Rega P9/apheta for use in the 2nd system. What I'm not sure about is the solo options that might...

The very top end (statement) and the very bottom end (muso range) already show the new product design language naim is developing: white and silver is the new green and black. Curious the see streamers and amps coming in a new body housing, maybe still in 2016?

I removed the top of my Nait 5i a few weeks ago and misplaced the four small screws that attach the top to the main chassis.  They are screwed into the underside of the chassis to hold the top in place.  Does anyone know the size of the screws or a source for replacing them?  I have tried a few sizes but have not found the correct ones yet.  I have also tried the screws from my Nait XS2 (early version), but no luck. Thanks for any help with this!

Just seen that this has been launched at CES. I have attached a link, so please 'click' on Turntable below - hope that this works. Is this Turntable of interest to anyone? If it doesn't, try cutting and pasting: http://www.technics.com/global/introduction/hifi-direct-drive-turntable-system-sl-1200gae/?utm_source=eloqua_audience-all&utm_medium=email&utm_content=newsletter/link-technics-sl1200-launch&utm_campaign=Newsletter_012016_Technics_SL1200_CES Regards Nigel

Id really like to have a bass control in the Naim app for my Superuniti. In the digital domain it does not degrade sound and I could compensate for room/speaker problems. Will Naim answer that need ?

I have a HiLine which is configured RCA - DIN. Is it possible to get it re-wired to DIN - DIN?

Hi I'm renovating my house at the moment - so I have the opportunity to design some features / future proofing into what is my listening room. The house is a 1900 Victorian terrace house - so walls are pretty thick. And the floor is a suspended timber flooring. Here's a basic layout of the listening room. Windows / doors / chimney / walls etc. are all fixed. But the hifi / speakers / seating / acoustic room treatments (if required) can all be moved to get the best out of the available...

Does anyone have their Naim kit / Fraim in a separate room to their speakers, and if so, how do you control them via remote?  I am tempted to move my kit to the dining room whilst keeping the speakers in the lounge.  That way, they can be out of the way and the speaker cables will simply have to go through the wall into the lounge.  Is there a sensor of some sort that I can then get and place near the speakers to control volume etc?  OR, is this idea simply not...

Well has anyone heard the Chord DAVE yet and how does it integrate with Naim? I have to admit to being carried along with the hype and am intrigued if this DAC is the one to change my mind about margarine.

I can't find an open version of this type of thread, so for a bit of nostalgia, I'm starting anew. When I was 11, my parents bought me a Thorn EMI music centre one Christmas, so I could play my at the time, only vinyl LP (Night at the Opera by Queen). Once I started working, I saved a few hundred pounds and took out a loan for the rest so I could buy my first proper hi-fi system. As I had been reading hi-fi mags for a while, I booked a demo at a well known hi-fi dealers near London Bridge...

I read with interest the comments made by Darke Bear in this thread re his comments about a non DR 500 vs a new 300DR. http://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/new-nap-300-dr?page=1 Alas, it was closed so I had to start a new thread.  I now have an opportunity to get new-ish non DR 500 for a little more than a new 300DR. However this is in the context of a NDS/555DR/252/SuperDR/250.2/S400 system, i.e. not at the 552 or S1 level type of system. I wont be able to do a trial of the 300DR vs the...

I got some of these headphones for listening in my home office. They're awesome! I thought it worth making the recommendation because they're the closest 'phones I've heard to the 'Naim sound' - that sense of getting to the heart of the music. They're hand-made by a family business in Brooklyn, and that appeals to me more than some big corporation. Their balanced nature also reminds me also of ATC speakers, which is odd, because the ATCs are unusual for being a closed-box design and the...
