Dear forum members Today at CES in Las Vegas we’ll be unveiling a new character in the Mu-so family. Mu-so Qb is a compact wireless music system from the engineers behind our award-winning Mu-so. Controlled by a powerful audio brain, Mu-so Qb is alive with custom-made features all designed in our audio laboratories here in Salisbury. It’s a true feat of sound engineering. From the contours of the glass-filled polymer casing to the bass radiators that help create huge low frequencies – every...

I have a CD5XS, 172XS (for now), 282 + 2*HiCaps, 200 & 250.2 and JBL S4700 with nacA5 speaker cable. I haven't logged the hours on them but it would be 100 odd hours I guess. To be honest, I felt the sound was really good, but not great, and I felt a bit disappointed. I added vibration control under the components and speakers and then thought that maybe they all needed a bit more time to run in, so I have spent the last week with the whole system playing at about 80dB continually. HOLY...

Just a quick add on from my last post, I have played around with vibration control under my speakers, stand and components and for me it is obvious when I even add home made felt and sorbothane feet under the cd player. The midrange definition instantly improved, again I checked with my wife and tested it with the mic and FFT program and it's there. As most of you know and now I for sure, tiny vibrations are a massive influence on sound. When I put Silent Mounts under my speakers they...

Hi all, i asked my dealer for a recap of my 300 because it is now 10 years old. i got the answer, that Music-line, the german distributor, only offers a recap with the dr-upgrade which costs 2895 euro.  i don't have the money at the moment and only want a recap. Also i think it is the first time for naim that they do not offer a service for an older (?) amp. is it the same in gb or is it only a problem here in Germany? Thanks for your answers. christoph

Morning. Has anyone tried an RA mini purifier near their system? My Cdx2 has a gentle 'purr' most of the time, but when a pair of straightners were switched on in another part of the house over the weekend, the 'purr' became more of a growl. I know a separate mains supply would be best, but due to the distance from the board that's out of the question. Any other recommendations?

Hi, i'm from Milan - Italy. finally i just buy my first naim streamer player, the unitilite ( i sell my Linn Classic after 10 years...sik ) and i'm feeling so happy and satisfied. So, my question now regard the loudspeaker. At moment i still use my legendary Linn Kan and i would like upgrade it and get a valid bookshelf like the PMC Twenty 21. What you think about it ? Any other  better option for my unitilite? sorry for my english and happy Christmas Tony

Does anyone have any experience of HDMI audio de-embedders?  My n-DAC has just had the software update so it now handles DSD files and therefore SACD.  I have a new UnitiServe-SSD and in re-ripping all my cd's find I have a couple of dual layer discs including a SACD layer which the US won't touch.  I also have a Sony BDP-S7200 Blu-Ray which will play SACD discs.  The problem is the Sony only puts out the DSD quality signal to the HDMI output not the coaxial S/PDIF which...

Hi again, all. I hope everyone's been enjoying a happy and very musical holiday. I've encountered a problem I hope is insignificant -- but not being even remotely a techie, I'm not sure what to think about it. First, my system: Supernait, Rega Apollo, Dune HD server, REL sub, and Fidelity Acoustics RFM-2 transmission line two-way speakers connected to the SN by NACA purchased with the amp new in 2007. About two and a half years ago, the SN appeared to die (off warranty), even though it had...

I previously had my listening room set up with the C10s either side of the rack on the narrow wall firing down the length of the room. As an experiment I have moved them to either side of a door on the long wall and moved the listening seat in front of the patio doors on the opposite wall. As a consequence I've now only got about 8ft from my ears to the door, approx 7ft to the tweeter. Compared to what I've been listening to the soundstage is much wider and the instrument positions are much...

Hi guys, I'm sure this is a stupid question but I'm going to ask any way. I have some neat iotas wall mounted to keep them out of reach of a 1 year old. I have naca5 terminated on airlock banana plugs. When inserted they leave a few mm protruding and due to the naca5 being so firm the plugs are starting to bend. On the iota terminals there is the option to unscrew the speaker terminals which would cover the protrusion on the banana plugs. Not sure if this is the done thing? The iotas have bi...

I am now in a position to buy a flatcap PS to go with a newly purchased NaitXS2.   Can anyone tell me if this will add to my musical pleasure.  Or am I wasting my money.  What exactly will the Flatcap add to the amp. Thanks for any advice.,

Greetings fellow audiophiles.  The current stacking order of my rack is: 252 nDAC 250 Supercap XPS   In an attempt to distract myself from severe "Dry January" symptoms I've just bought myself a 300/300PS to replace the 250.  What is the considered opinion of the forum on the optimum stacking order for my new setup?  Obviously I've bought another shelf unit to accommodate the additional black box.

OK, I am new here but I am looking for advice. I want to progress from my current configuration where I listen to vinyl almost exclusively. I feel that I have the right system for my listening (room) situation, which is combined with our living room where we entertain guests and sometimes have non-audiophiles in to listen to old and new vinyl tracks. I am not very interested in "trading up" to more power and bigger speakers  because I am happy with what I have in the room size including...

Yesterday morning I decided to use the morning to finally rebuild my SBLs (mk2, cherry, 1997 vintage), bought from a German dealer in July 2014, my second pair in ten years. The left one opened up easily, like a mature clam, revealing an almost immaculate gasket; but the right one resisted, and I had to destroy the gasket to open it. Now, I proceeded to remove all traces of glue and rubber from the metal plate of the lower box, and this was by far the only boring part of the job. My advice...

Never started a post before - but just over a week into 250DR purchase (upgrading a 2012 vintage 250) and I think it is the most significant step up that I have ever made. In fairness it has all the benefits of building upon my other upgrades over the last couple of years (XPS - XPSDR, 2*HiCap - SCDR, 282 - 252, 200-250(!!) and Chord Signature TA interconnects - all of which I was, and remain, very happy with vfm wise) - but this is in a different league. I was not planning it as clearly I...

After the last Fraim upgrade with the addition of a new stack of which i already mentioned all my positive unexpected impressions, i thought it was time for a " twist" at  my  mains sockets  The situation is less than ideal since I have a radial circuit with 2,5 mm wire, (bigger is no possible for the ducts running inside the walls)  coming from an  RCD panel in the  basement  and feeding 3 sockets. The first one  on the wall behind the SL2s  and...

I have a NAC-N272 and I just acquired an ex-demo CDX2. Does anyone know whether it is possible to control (pause etc) the CDX2 from the Naim app via the 272? It looks from the manuals that I may be able to connect the system remote connectors on the 272 and the CDX2 with a 3.5 mm jack to jack lead, but before I randomly connect two expensive boxes together, I thought I should seek advice here. best David

Hi, after some hours of cleanup, rearranging, cable dressing I fired up my Naim gear again and as I expected from earlier experience the Supernait 2 sounds not really good. I know it will be better after some hours and then again after a few days. I was wondering which of my other components that are HDX and nDac and the HCDR on the Supernait to always leave one? I would think that powering down HDX and nDac should not compromise sound after a start up the next day, would it? Best, Chris

Hi everyone, I have listening to the CDS-2 + 555PS DR + Hi-Line for a long time. I listened and enjoyed tens of discs, but less than a hundred. The sound was very exciting with the CDS-2.  After I listened the SuperLumina speaker cable, it was very impressive so I decided to order the full-loom + NDS + another 555PS DR. From the beginning the NDS sound was very tricky(with a single 555PS) - one day I loved it , and another day the sound was very poor. The mixing...

Dear all, I may have an opportunity to purchase a pair of these speakers in excellent condition. It struck me that this is one of the few forums with knowledge about these: http://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/a-question-for-senior-posters-on-this-forum If anyone with personal knowledge of these speakers is still around, I'd love to hear whether it's worthwhile to make the (longish) trip to hear them. Kind regards, steven

As above. I have heard the 272/250DR, NDX/SN2 and NDX/282/HcapDr/250DR. Although the sound signature of the SN2 is darker and weightier than the other 2 setups, it is no slouch in musicality, PRaT and really not that far in terms of resolution especially looking at the price differential. What do you think?

I have received a new 500DR replacing my faithful 500 and one of the thing that I have noticed is that there is no switch on thump, or the thump of the capacitors discharge on switching off. Has anybody notice s the same phenomena?

Nac n272/XPS DR/NAP250DR ... In this set up should the switch be set to floating or chassis?  No problems but just want to ensure that everything is set up correctly.  Ta, Stu.
