Looking to bi-amp Kudos Titan T88's with 2 x NAP500. At the moment they are driven by a single NAP500. Does anyone have any experience of this - either with Titan's or other speakers ? Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance. Andy

Hi forum. What finish was available for MK2 SBL cabinets, as I am wondering if Maple was a option at the time or  beech veneer. I realise black ash ,cherry and walnut finishes were available back then.   Regard,s Pieman.

Yes, I know this is a topic that has been discussed previously but usually that has been in regards to the CD555.  I'd like to discuss in relation to NDS. I've been running a Melco N1Z for nearly a week now and a couple of days ago I introduced a second 555PS to the mix. Before I post my thoughts on the differences when running an NDS with 1 or 2 PS I'd be very keen to hear feedback from others as to what differences they have heard in this test and whether they then went on to purchase...

Hi all, Its taken me a year to get my hif-fi setup, and I apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge with regards to this question, but what device or adaptor am I supposed to use, to connect the 2 RCA outputs from my Linn LP12 to my NAIM 102 Pre-amp?, as there are only DIN connections to the rear of the NAIM pre-amp. I was so looking to forward to having this setup ready for the new year too Any help greatly appreciated as always. Setup is as follows: Linn LP12 with Lingo MK1 Naim NAP...

I have a NAIT 3 which I bought around 1996/97. It's been in storage for a while and now it skips on pretty much every CD once it gets to around track 4 or 5. Is this fatal? Or is there anything I can do? I've been told that the laser has aged but seems a shame to throw it on the scrapheap! Any help much appreciated!

I was just taking a look at the latest (UK) RAJAR radio listening data for Q3 2015; It shows a growing move toward DAB. The expansion of the UK DAB coverage to match & exceed that of FM when the new transmitter plan ( Local DAB Expansion) is completed in the second half of 2016. A further 14 new stations are due to go on air in early 2016. This all adds up to a very strong possibility that the FM national stations switch off date will be up for consideration very soon. It's not as...

Hi guys, After many years of soul searching for the most suitable CD set up for my quiet taste in chamber music, I finally settle in with the CDX/Cdps combo.  To me, this combo strike the best balance between high resolution and analogy like sound which I have every intension to keep for good. I have the following questions and hope to have answers from the more experienced Naim owners here. 1.  The transport mach is most likely to give up before anything else.  Is...

Something I just discovered that had far more impact than I thought. I had a SL interconnect lead from my CD555 source to the S1 Pre that looped through a gap between the power leads to my Analogue and Digital 555PS for it. It was well-clear of the mains cable by a few inches and free-hanging, so I thought it was OK - but when I decided to move the power lead underneath the Interconnect cable, in fact ending-up a bit closer, but under it - the step-up in performance was rather remarkable.

Hi. I am new to this forum.  I have just bought my first Naim equipment, NAC-N 272 with tuner, NAP 200 DR, and Unitiserve. Whilst changing radio stations using the remote, 'Error 36' appeared on the screen accompanied by a repetitive music jingle.  At first I thought it was a radio station but the same phrase was repeated continuously and no functions on the remote control would operate so I decide to turn the volume down with the dial whilst I was working out what to do.  The...

I have finally set up my much treasured NAT02.  Not so much that I listen to a lot of radio, but mostly in the knowledge that it was one of the very last made. I have an FM aerial on the roof and it connects down to my listening room.  I could not use a directional aerial, due to the location of large tree, but expected a pretty good signal even if not ultra hi-fi.  To my disappointment, I get a good strong signal that appears to work on all stations except Radio 4!  The...

Hope you all had a good Xmas.  I have a question about my hicap. It's on the first shelf above the nap250dr which is on the base.  Its located on the very right hand side of the shelf with the napsc sharing the same shelf but on the very left edge so there is a gap in the middle.  I can't avoid the cables to and from the hicap touching the centre support of the Fraim at the back.  If I swap the hi cap and napsc over I can avoid all cables touching the Fraim.  Is this...

Hello all. Hope you had a good Xmas. On Boxing day I moved my Nottingham Spacedeck from the bedroom system into the lounge as a neighbour was coming round and he was bringing some of his records. All sounded fantastic with the Stageline powered by the 252 and 300 into ATC SCM40. The bedroom system is a 112 into a 200 via a Hi-Cap and Audiovector speakers. The sound was always nice but a complete transformation once I moved the TT into the Lounge. Played some vintage Jazz- stereo and mono,...

It seems the Nac 112 (which I own), is often considered as the weakest preamp Naim has produced, notably because it's dark sounding with its treble being rolled-off.  Does anyone know if Naim corrected that with its successors? And is today's Nac 152 xs totally free of those characteristics? (ie: is the treble produced by the 152 xs shining normally?).  Thank you for your inputs.  Best regards,

OK, I am new here but I am looking for advice. I want to progress from my current configuration where I listen to vinyl almost exclusively. I feel that I have the right system for my listening (room) situation, which is combined with our living room where we entertain guests and sometimes have non-audiophiles in to listen to old and new vinyl tracks. I am not very interested in "trading up" to more power and bigger speakers  because I am happy with what I have in the room size including...

This is my first post, so please be gentle! Since Christmas Eve Eve my 3year old Uniti has been behaving oddly on power up. Now, I'm in the process of contacting the dealer/Naim support for long term solution, but holiday season is getting in the way! So in the mean time if anyone can advise me I'd be grateful. When I power up, both the Naim lamp and the oled display illuminate as usual, but the oled "goes off" after 15/20 seconds and power is interrupted. Power resumes again, then goes down...

I can get a XPS-2 from 2009 and wonder if it's worth to buy? It will be connected to my 272/250DR system. Maybe buy it and recap plus DR the power supply? Don't know much about the costs for such an upgrade? Thx for your advice Rik

Presently I have the NDX/SN2/Harbeth SHL 5 @ home and was thinking which upgrade direction should I move from here. Went down to my dealer and compared the 3 setups, all of them hooked up to the Focal Sopra No.2. Below is my subjective impression, First was the 272/250DR. Nice lit up highs, mid is forward and good presence. Lows are tight but felt it could go deeper. The leanest sounding among the 3. Next NDX/SN2, here the dynamic of the setup is so different. Top is not so light/airy and a...

Sometimes evolution revisits an old and much love ancient component. I have a MAC Mini with iTunes [AIFF files] in vanilla software set up - no additions beyond the MAC iTunes software. Having parted with the DAC V1 as being too much money for me tied up in replay, I bought a £5 mini jack to mini jack cable and connected up my now fifteen year old Tivoli Model One Radio. It is blissful straight off the analogue output of the Mini. Not loud even at flat out, but very direct and enjoyable. I...

Hello there, I did an interesting home demo with gear mentioned in the topic. Ndac plus sn2 > crisp, airy (especially after ndac firmware), punchy and detailed sound with a lot of rhythmic drive. Nac272 & nap200 > different sound signature, I heard similar power and control, but didn't like so much the dac section of nac272. I found it a bit stretched, the sound was in my speakers, not spreading all over my room. So, after ndac firmware, I'm very happy with my current setup...

I know Forum rules don't allow links to other sites but  Roy Gregory onThe Audio Beat site has a comprehensive Statement review.Very informative and comprehensive. Interesting as SL isn't used, also analog is covered which is quite rare on a Staement review with a front end using the very tasty Lyra Etna cartridge. Well worth checking out.Good read.

Having previously owned the S-600 (with 300/252 amplification) and not got along with them I was braced to be underwhelmed by the S-400 SN2 combination. My main problems with the S-600, which no amount of tweakery resolved, were a certain 'shut-in' character and an uneven, disconnected light bass. I tried with them for about a year before giving up -assuming it was a 'room issue'. Getting the S-400 set-up earlier today was fun. Aided by my son (just back from 1st semester at Uni) we had a...
