Hi , ive just done the dsd update on the ndac , all worked fine , no problems .. I,m new to dsd so i decided to download a free eric bibb track from dsdfile.com 2.8 mhz just to test it ( no idea if that was right or wrong ) .. That all worked pretty...
After many, many different upgrades and change of system components over the past 3 decades I have finally settled on the fact that my nait 2 feeding mk 2 kans via naca5 gives me the most enjoyment and PRaT My source components consist of: Naim CDX (recent full service) Linn LP12 akito Valhalla ...
Please forgive my ignorance! I have a Supernait 2 and have just bought a Hi Cap DR to boost it. I took off the link plug covering the pre amp out socket and put in one end of the 5 pin Snaic, with the other end going into the socket 4 to the back of Hi Cap DR. Connected mains lead. Went to play my turntable from Aux 2 as would have done previously and no sound came from the system. Do I need a single plug to cover the power amp in below the Hi Cap DR? For it to function?
The way I listen to music appears to have changed as I have improved the quality of my gear and hence the quality of reproduction in the home. I appear to have subtly moved from listening ‘actively’ to listening while doing other activities such as reading. Don’t get me wrong I still have periods during listening sessions where I just sit intently absorbing the music. But usually these days I enjoy listening while reading and find I am still able to fully enjoy my music. Now I know men are...
Spendor, Harbeth, ATC, B&W, Meridian, Naim, Linn, Sonneteer, Creek, Stirling, Kudos, etc., etc., etc.,.... Why is that so much good hifi comes out of the UK ? Genetics, education, the BBC, something in the tea ?
Our usual weekly cleaner has gone home for Christmas and we had a replacement visit today. Lovely girl who seemed to have done an excellent job according to my wife, until I came into my listening room..... I wanted to hear a new CD I'd ripped last night but when I turned it on my ears nearly exploded! The volume control was at the 3 o'clock position. When I eventually retrieved the remote and turned it down to a more civilised position I thought the mastering of the CD couldn't be very good...
Early this morning I took delivery of a S/H NDAC & XPS to try against the Hugo that has been my mainstay for some time. The S/H price was very reasonable - with new firmware loaded and next day delivery...I fancied a 'bake-off' weekend. Having previously been a longterm NDX/NDAC:555PS user I have a fair idea of the sonic signature of the 'old' NDAC and suffice to say that the Hugo did, for me, beat it into a cocked-hat. Curiosity is the enemy of the committed audiophile however...'just...
Dears, plenty of posts on this NAP, I so don't want to abuse of your time, but let me to modestly inform you that mine is just arrived this evening (stimulated by a trade-in at my dealer of my "old" 250.2). It seems is still decently amplify the sounds as before... P.S. New avatar, the TO3 transistor has been retired, but honestly, with some loving regret Happy holidays to all, ATB, Maurizio
In my naivety I've always thought once a cable is burnt in then it remains burnt in, I've since found that's not the case! i recently purchased some ex demo tellurium q black diamond speaker cable and the dealer confirmed that it had been disconnected for approx 20days. Having purchased new tellurium q cables before I'm well aware of the need for burn in, more so than most cable manufactures but surely not a used cable! The TQ black diamonds were installed on Saturday with great anticipation...
Some years back, I decided to try out vinyl again with and old Ariston RD11S stored in the loft as I did not rate it good enough to sell and had not been used for 30 years. I bought a few records from a local shop and came to the conclusion that there was definitely something about vinyl that was different/better (?) than CD but the old bugbear of surface noise and clicks were very much present and I decided to remain digital. However, vinyl remained an object of desire, and I nearly bought...
Long time lurker but first time poster here; please be gentle. Right now in my main system I'm running a NaitXS2 + HC; early in the new year I hope to shift a NAP 200 over from another system and use the Nait as a pre-amp only. Eventually I'd like to upgrade the Nait to either a NAC 202 or a 282. My question: is the 202 a significant and sufficient upgrade from the Nait or should I wait and save up for the 282? Speakers are DeVore Silverbacks, other components are listed...
I have recently re-acquired my old LP collection. It's not vast but has great sentimental value. At present I have a XS system (see profile) with no means of playing LPs. I would be grateful for any suggestions about what equipment I should be looking for, new or used. I don't want to spend a fortune but would like to get something that's up to the standard of my current setup. If buying used I would be nervous about buying from an auction site so are there any specialist dealers out there...
When UQ came out I bought one almost immediately. it seemed to be the ideal combination of dab, fm, amp, digital bits all in one little qute (sorry) box. it got used a lot, often as a reference dab player. and then came the 192k upgrade which it had. then various firmware upgrades, such that now it can do full res Tidal. But I never really found a pair of speakers that seemed just right for it. Now I have -- the atc SCM11. What a stunning combination. Rhythm, pace, timing and a...
i thought I would change from the Superuniti to the 172xs/200 to eventually go to the 272/250, what can I expect initially from the 172/200 also I only have one powerline so should I get another powerline first or a highline? thanks
anyone done this comparison willing to share their experiences? enjoy ken
I haven't posted for a while, and realize this may be the wrong place to share this, but here goes. I was sorting through some old files, and found a receipt for a pair of "raw" speakers I bought in 1971. These were speakers for my first "real" hi-fi. They were JBL le 12c, and I paid $240.00 for the pair of them, and another $100 for the custom cabinetry. I found the "installation and wiring manual" for them and was amused at the spec for wire size. Here's what the manual said. "18...
I just bought a stageline N for my 172 (my first turntable stage) but I cannot get the included cable to connect to the pre-amp side. The pins look it should fit but doesn't appear to. And then I just found this: https://www.naimaudio.com/product/stageline 24V supply voltage from NaimUniti 2, NAIT XS2, SUPERNAIT 2, Naim Audio preamplifier ( except NAC-N172 XS) , FlatCap XS, HiCap or SuperCap required. So am I screwed or is there anyway to connect the two? (Why is the 172...
I was wondering: has anyone tried a A/B comparison between a 202/200 and a 202 DR/200 system? And what are the main diffences sound wise? Thank you in advance. Arnaud
I'm in love with the new Wilson Sabrina's add was thinking of matting them with a new Naim system. I've talked to several dealers & have read that the it's a great match up. I heard the Sabrina's on an inexpensive Rega system that sounded excellent! I will not be able to listen to these together before making the purchase (crazy I know). This is from a dealer out of my area who sells both Naim & Wilson... "Good - SuperUniti , Better - NAC-N172XSBT and...
Just wondering if anyone has compared the two? I have a second system comprising a SuperUniti playing into my now ageing (around 16 years) Minstrel SE speakers. Has anyone compared this once great Royd speaker with the "new" Neat Motive SX2? Yes, I will arrange a demo with Harry York at Audio Genesis in Sydney who I understand are Neat dealers but I'm just wondering if I'm way off the mark and better of sticking with my old faithful Royds....?
Is it possible to attach my Apple Ipod to the back of my NaitXS2 via some lead in order to play the music. I was thinking of using a 3 hour Playlist in order to run in the new amp whilst I am out of the house.
I posted in another string which was not the best approach. Advice for consideration? NDX/NDAC(updated)/XPS/SN2/HCDR vs NDX/NDAC(updated)/282/250.2(considering DR/Transistor update) Cheers,
Dear all, My unitiqute2 which I was purchased was marked 230V at the back of the unit. I would like to know if the voltage input should be strictly at 230 voltage? If my area has a voltage higher than normal, say, as 242V , would it cause any damage to the unit? As heard from others, most gear would accept a +/- 10% variation! For the unit working in such prolong voltage, is that ok? Thanks all!
just got this amazing classic amp to my workroom. It's working and sound perfect. the only thing is I can hear some radio from the speakers?! I have no tuner connected anywhere in the house....solution?
Hi all im back again after an intensive pocket emptying upgrading, iv now got a cd2x with xps, 282 with hicap dr (new), still have the nap 150x and the s400 ovaitors, BUT still not happy, it lacks a little something that my 5 series set up had, am...
