My Narcom remote has stopped working in the "mute" button action. It became more difficult over the past weeks. All other functions are OK. I would guess its not reparable and a replacement would be the answer? My Naim Flash still works, which is fortunate as the factory can no longer supply this unit.
Just wondering should I change my current SN2/CD5XS to Uniti Nova in terms of sound quality.... Any kind soul here can shed a light ?
A little like a kid in a sweet shop this week, as the NAP180 and SBLs that i bought have arrived and a NAC72 along with a Hi Cap will arrive shortly too. Today I'm looking forward to setting up the SBLs and have read much of what is written on here about this, although it seems there is a certain amount of care involved it will be rewarded in the results and it all seems fairly straight forward I now find myself pondering a source as i don't currently have one and was considering a pre loved...
Currently I have a Core / 272 / 250DR and I am considering what next whilst trying to best future proof in the sense of upgrading. Firstly I plan on getting a Fraim (this month) post then thoughts are a PSU for the 272 (pre Christmas) however, in time (2021) I am thinking about moving away from the 272 to a 282 or 252 and possibly one of the new streamers. Therefore what are people’s views on which PSU that would suit a 272, as well as a 282 or 252 or is this an unrealistic wish? Also I am...
I am curious if the black burndy connecting my Nac 52 to the supercap is an improvement over the gray burndy? Thanks.
I’m planning to purchase the ND555 and was wondering about its capabilities of reading DSD format. More precisely, how is the DoP implemented in this new system? The following thread is very interesting btw: https://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/how-to-use-dsd128-5-6mhz-and-upwards?reply=49295588623807629 ND555 is able to read up to DSD-128 (through DoP, which seems to be lossy). Many records are now offered in PCM 24bits/192kHz and sometimes even 352,8 kHz. In the context of the ND555 and PCM,...
On the Forum and personally I’ve repeatedly heard praise for Super Lumina cables, but seldom distinction between the speaker cables and interconnects. In July 2015 Martin Colomms in HiFi Crtic, praised SL interconnects, but characterized SL speaker cables as “work in progress.” Does anyone know if Naim responded to this review in word or deed since it questioned some of the value of the expensive SL speaker cable when compared to NAC A5?
hello everyone, i was trying to set up my 552/300 and not being able to get any sound yet..... while doing it i might get the 552 burndy stuck and can not get it to move at all, is there an easy way to do it, or a tool to get it it out. maybe i got the burndy direction wrong between 552 and 552ps can they stuck like this ? any help is highly appreciated, i am about to cry like a baby!! moving is a lot of stress and i dont have any dealer in my new country Saudi Arabia....
I don't know if it's possible, but rather than posting static system pictures, could we post video or audio file (or is it audiophile) clips, just for fun, or we could rate ????????????
swapped my 803D3 yesterday for a dem pair of 802D3 they are sounding great will be hoping with a few weeks of playing they will get even better.
Hi folks, I come across a dilemma which made me hard to choose and I would like to seek the advice from here. Well, I decided to buy a streamer but Naim just released three new models namely: ND5XS2, NDX2 and ND555. I am wondering if I have to buy the entry level (ND5XS2) as testing and then to decide upgrade to the flagship level or I just buy the flagship device as my destination. Kindly let me have all of your professional and experienced advice. All the best, Patrick
Hi all just a hypothetical thought, don’t take to seriously.... Would things be just as clear cut if instead you were sold a sound style to suit you and your taste apossed to I ladder of sound improvements fulfilled by budget. Apart from the Statement, if Naims products were the same price across the given ranges i.e. ND5XS 2, NDX2 and ND555 and likewise for pre amps, amps and supplies And given more generic names like the Streamers called NDA,NDB,NDC. Would everyone end up with the same...
Hi just wondering .... how reliable is the 552??...mine has been fine for 1.5 years ... but it does seem very sensitive.... to static and it has had a couple of strange episodes.....which required a power down and a power up. It would be great to hear from others....
hello everyone, could you please confirm that both nap 300 and 300ps cabinet finishing/material/treatment is the same? Would it be possible that ps300 seems to be rough rather than smooth? thanks in advance for your support best, mark
I’ve owned my Snaps / 101 tuner from new bought from Studio 99 in 1987. I contacted Darren as the Snaps was no longer powering my tuner so he suggested using the spare channel which I did from several months till that channel gave up the ghost . I contacted Darren about servicing the Snaps sent it off and a fortnight later I received it back. I was totally gob smacked after I connect it up to the 101 in my system. I forgot how good the tuner was, spellbinding comes to mind. Many thanks to...
Dear Naim tuner user, I have my nat01 tuner well repaired, but cannot fine a good fitted male antenna connector for it. As Coaxial cable from antenna equipped an standard head connector, and I need to buy another male connector to perfect fit the female head on nat01? Is there any specific name or spec or part number for it? Where can i get on ? Many thanks for advice. TOM
Hello everybody. Please accept my apologies before I start as Im about to ask a few quite likely dumb questions about the Naim gear. I have been over the last few days reading posts on this site ( and others ) but still have a few questions. Just bought a CB series 62 and 140 ( serial no.s around 39000 ) with a grey snaic and two 3.5metre Naca5's. Real happy with the purchase. My main question is can the olive series be used in conjunction with the CB series - say a olive series tuner and cd...
My current set up is a Naim Nova and Naim Allaes, I have recently upgraded from a Superuniti which is a superb piece of equipment which I was really pleased with until I made the mistake of listening to the Nova. With such an unexpected upgrade it’s got me questioning my speakers, they sound really good with the Nova but would I get more out of it if I changed my speakers? I’ve always liked the Ovator s400s but not heard them in my room which I appreciate is an essential issue, I won’t be...
Does anyone use the speaker plugs supplied with the Atom? Also, why do they only include plugs for one end of the cable?
I have recently added an NAT05XS to my system to compare with the NDX-FM. I am on record as preferring FM over iRadio on the NDX-FM, which still stands. The NAT05XS, powered by the FC2X, is superior, without a doubt — more detail and body. It is unfortunate that the Naim app has so little control of the NAT. Still glad to have the FM module in the NDX, for daily usability. Nick
Hello. I have at the moment a Naim NAC 282 and NAP 200 with a HiCap connected. I also have a Flatcap XS hanging around. Can i connect that as well ? Should I ? And if so to both, how ? Many thanks, Russ
I'm sure someone will quickly be able to answer this question and also confirm that it's a dumb one. I want to connect the Tape Out on a NAC 252 to a Focusrite sound card that has a MIDI input. As far as I can see a MIDI input is just a five-pin DIN by another name, so any Naim five-pin source-to-pre-amp cable will do the trick, or an S3 cable as sold by Witch Hat. Is this correct? I'm reluctant to stick something in and see if it works in case it's wrong and I do some damage.
Pleasantly surprised that my local dealer once again has Devore on his floor. My Devore Nines are 6 yrs old and with recent system upgrades I do want just a little more; I want more oomph to the bass but do not want to lose any of the stellar midrange vocals or smooth treble. Set up a N172 into a 250DR. Tried the Devore Tens. Wow; everything I love about the Nines plus that oomph in the bass. Then tried the Devore Super Nines. All the bass of the Tens, but not the stunning midrange of the...
I have seen comments about improving sound quality by using a Hydra mains cable rather than a simple 4 way extension cable. Are such improvements to be heard in entry level systems or is it only higher level equipment that would benefit? Could I expect an audible improvement in my system: CD5Si, NAC92 with TX1 PS, NAP140 & Piega TS5? A 1 into 3 Hydra is inexpensive @ £160 but would it be worth it?
Hello to all I would like an advice on which update would bring me more advantage. My current system is: MacMini (Audirvana)> Dac V1 (via USB Asynchronous)> 202 (with HC DR + NAPSC)> 200> Ariva Given that I am very happy with Ariva. I know that many in the forum do not love them (and I do not understand why) but having made a comparison to my house with the Allae, I preferred the Ariva for the kind of very natural timbre. I have the opportunity to buy a Nac 282 (replacing the...
