I have the opportunity to purchase a NAC 552 with 555 PS DR and NAP300 DR at a reasonable price (around £8000 the lot). I currently have a Superuniti with Fact 8’s, hence thinking of upgrading to the above. Thoughts welcome on this combo ie Fact 8’s, NAC 552 with 555 PS DR and NAP300 DR + SU only for DAC/UPNP. Or should I be looking at something like a NAC 252 with NAP 250 DR which would cost a couple of grand less?

Hello, When I press the cd input on my naim Nait XS and I still have the Pure Tuner on I can hear the Tuner sound coming through the Cd player input . its a lot quieter but its definately breaking through. Is this normal for sound to break through on another input. I thought these inputs were totally isolated. I know the easy solution is just to make sure the Tuner is off while playing CDs. if its normal just wondering if more expensive amps are all the same.

I've got a pair of Q6014's (not bamboo). The last thing they could be called is stiff. I have them on a tiled floor with the spikes removed and substituted with bluetac. Similarly between the top plate and speakers (ATCSCM19). I've been glancing speculatively in their direction lately and wondering if I might be better off with hollow-legged, sand-weighted metal-framed stands. Any experience or knowledgeable advice, team?

I recently 'inherited' an RP 3, it's about 20 years old I'd say but in fairly good nick bar a few faults - I notice the pulley on the motor side (where you change the speed) is slipping on the motor spindle, I gather this came originally as part of the motor assembly so should it be bonded to the spindle somehow? Can I just 'glue' it back on as such? You'd expect there to be a flat side on the spindle where it would key in to the pulley but this doesent seem to be the case.

I was playing a Joy Division Greatest Hits type CD and after playing the song 24 Hours, the played ceased to work correctly. It will read a cd and know how many tracks there are but if you try to play one nothing much happens. I've tried other CDs (Melt Banana, Smiths etc.) but get the same result. I've powered it off and on but it still will not play a disk. Does anyone know if there are any other quick fixes I can try? It looks like it may have to go back to the factory for repair...

Hi, I have to come to the Naim world via NAD, Arcam. One thing I have noticed as I moved to Naim is that the soundstage of my 272/250 (and the Supernait I had before) is not as wide as when I used Arcam A19 and A39 amps (using the same Quad 23L speakers). Hello Folks Nova has a Acrylic plate at the front side bottom, it is used to flash naim logo. It became loose and came off in first couple of days. Dealer is going to get a repair kit to fix it, as one to one replacement needs long waiting. Am OK with the arrangement, but my observation is, this is a design flaw, sticking a acrylic plate to metal box is not going to last long and it will fall off some day. Not sure if other uniti owners have seen this issue?

Just saw on a bidding website a four tier Naim fraim for sale.Just to bring to the attention ( if you haven’t notice) of anyone bidding on this is that only one shelf is the full fat fraim ,the other three are fraim lite.The seller did not even mention there is a mixture of fraim and fraim lite, I take that as trying to deceive the buyer.Hope this help .

I have a Uniti Atom to which I have just added a Rega deck. I have a nice machine for cleaning old records and I have a Pro-Ject BrusH It it for instant clean on the deck. Howevere, years ago, I used to have a brush that ran like a tone arm, which I don't want to do, but the brush itself was useful for cleaning the stylus of fluff. The Pro-Ject brush won't get under there. Any idea what I should buy?

Hi, i was trying to rearrange my Naim boxes the other day and I noticed that the burndy locking ring on the 552 end is exceptionally stiff. I had to use a large amount of force by hand to unlock it and it’s the same with locking it. A pair of pliers gripping the ring made things easier though. The burndy is properly aligned and straight. The 552DR Power supply end is fine. Has anyone encountered something similar on their 552? Thanks.

Looks like a lively night coming for the south & especially south west corner of UK. The pic is showing lightning strikes; just arriving at IoW & SE London. The weather/storm track line is from SE. Maybe an idea to think about pulling plugs at bedtime.
