What have people seen for dr/recap cost rate increases? Last November the cost for xps2 dr and recap was 2295, this week was quoted 2995. That is a change of 30% here in Canada. Guessed I missed the boat and should have sent the unit in last November. Since I had a trip planned to Montreal this summer for the F1 I figured I would drop it off in person. Ouch.

I have a NAP140 and was wondering whether to upgrade to a pre-loved 180 or 200. Pre is a 102/HICAP/NAPSC and sources are LP12/Ittok/Cirkus/Lingo 1/DV10x5 & nDAC/XPS. Speakers are Credos. Servicing is up to date and the nDAC is on the latest firmware. The 180 would I suspect be 140 with a boost button pushed. Is the 200 more refined presentation. Female vocal quality is paramount Decisions.....

Hello everyone, I'm currently evaluating to upgrade my Nac A5 in order to get deeper sound. Before changing them, I would like to ensure the right polarity since I'm not convinced about it. The cables have banana connectors to the speakers and naim plugs to the power amp (nap 250). Regarding naim plugs, they don’t have black and red colors so I’m not sure about positive and negative polarity. I have a pair of Harbeth 30.1s being driven by a Musical Fidelity v90 Dac and a Naim Nait 5si (rates at 60 watts). I use a Mac Mini with Audinirvana. Will a move to the Naim Atom (rated at 40 watts) be an upgrade? I have a medium size room and don’t play too loud. Will it be adequate?

Hello all Been using Naim stuff for over 30 years. (NDS / 555 / 282 / 250 DR / SUPERCAP and B&W 802 at the moment) Always happy with the sound no doubt about that. This is the surprise. —— I bought a Rega 3 TT a month ago and I am astonished at how good a humble TT could sound, what a surprise! Just switched my NDS on after a month being switched off but (at the moment) it is not as good as the Rega. Myguess is that the NDS may need time to warm up, or is it that vinyl so good?

For what I know, I asked to Naim support, both all-in-one share the same streaming section and the same preamp section. It seems that the only differences are the power amplifier stage and the cd-drive. So, if I understand well, If I intend to add an external power amplifier, there would be no sound quality difference between the two... even the Star would be better for the ripping opportunity. Strange, I miss something....

i found on the net the Transmission audio ultimate speakers, which uses 40 subwoofers. The speakers cost 1,2 million dollars. Is it possible to imagine 40 naim statement amps to power the 40 subwoofers? A naim system with around 45 boxes( 41 statement), and a price of near 6 millions dollars ?

Hi Guys Ive just taken delivery of a Uniti Star today, I noticed the connector on the back where the power cord plugs in is loose, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to come out, it’s just not solidly fixed. Is this normal or do I have a potential problem with my unit? im also not happy with the packaging used by the supplier, the white Naim box was simply wrapped in a bin bag to cover up what was inside, thats obviously not a Naim issue but I would be interested to know if like many other...

I'd like to give an update as I posted a thread giving a glowing review of a Chord Qutest following a home demo, and then some weeks later, after taking delivery of my own, posted reporting that ultimately it wasn't as enjoyable as my Naim DAC-V1. I took delivery of the Chord beginning of April, went through what I considered a reasonable run-in period of 3 weeks, and then in a moment of general dissatisfaction switched back to the DAC-V1 and realised that it was instantly more enjoyable.

Hi All, After a bit of advice, I was looking at pairing these the atom with kef's, but my concern is that the Atom is 40w, therefore I am not too confident it will drive the LS50 to their full potential? I know that amplification is important for the LS50's so this might not be a good paring, maybe these need something like 8 ohm? Haven't got a huge lounge so can anyone share thought's on if this is a bad choice? Or if perhaps they know of a better set of bookshelf speakers I can invest it...

hi folks, just a quick question - I currently have NDS, 552, 300 on the left as I look at my system with 555, 552ps, 300ps on the right. Would I loose anything if I hade them the other way round I.e. the brawn on the left brain on the right. Contemplating superlumina and if I could switch “ brain “ to the left I would only need a 3m run but cant work out if it would make a material difference to cable dressing. Thanks Gary

is there any difference between a factory upgraded xps and a vanilla XPS dr (I.e out of the factory as a dr)? What of the older original XPS is not replaced and may need refreshing in the future, if anything? ditto for 555ps too.....

I often find comparisons of Naim equipment to be misleading. One person says this is better the other says that is better. The true test of which is better is this: Which do you see for come up for sale less often? The answer is clear. The winners are 52,CDS1,32.5,CDI etc...

Am planning on getting the bronze top upgrade to my Q4. Looking around the inter web I noticed that just about every system picture using the bronze top has an extra shelf underneath. The quadraspire site has comments and pictures that indicate no extra shelf is needed or even advised. This is confusing as the extra shelf adds expense and seems to offer no use to placing additional equipment as the spacing is so narrow. I think I am missing something. Can anyone offer any enlightenment?

Has anyone ever tried a Flatcap2 with a CDX2? I know the CDX2 should really be paired with the more expensive XPS2, but if someone already owned a Flatcap2, would it be worth sticking it on a CDX2? Assuming the Flatcap2 idea is not a good one. Is there any/much difference between a XPS and a XPS2 with a CDX2? Thanks.

Hi. Please can someone confirm which output to use RCA plugs on rear of Uniti2 so I can use my Stax ear speakers and energiser. Re: Line, An1, An2 .... Etc. As I have tried all rear outputs with no success. All sources of music are fine via my floor standing speakers. Thank you.

Having bought an Atom and Neat Iotas a few months ago I have been really very happy with the sound. However, I have noticed that a lot of the music I am streaming from Tidal seems to have a left-side bias, particularly female vocals - and in some cases the singer is standing right over on the left of the stage. I started by just ignoring it convincing myself that Diana Krall was sitting at her piano, on the left, obviously, or putting it down to bad recordings - why would they do that?! But...
