Hi everyone, I have recently gotten into Naim and got myself a second hand Nait XS and Motive 2 speakers. I like the combo and I know a lot of people here do as well. I will be solely streaming 16/44 FLAC files, not fussed about hi res. There is currently a second hand nd5 xs listed at $2650 which is way way out of budget so that is completely out of consideration, even in the future I can’t imagine the better half agreeing to a streamer for this price tag. Hi The Naim Nait 5i-2 is quite satisfying for now My source is a Philips CD750 I was wondering if i can use the CD player as a transport and hook it to a Naim Dac ( pre-loved ) Maybe i will get more synergy that way ?? I want to continue to spin CD's and have no plans at the moment to go the Laptop route. I'm just putting together a vintage Naim system from early 80's. so far I have a NAP 250 a NAC 32.5 and SNAPS . unfortunately no cables. My question is the NAC 32.5 has a 5 pin DIN for the output see attached photograph. I'm assuming this means it is dual railed. before I go out and buy the relevant 4 pin to 5 pin cable. how do I confirm the pre amp is dual railed. OK, I had my Rogers LS3/5A speakers for over 30 years (bought in 1980). I was always somewhat bothered by the lack of dynamics and bottom end. When I bought my Rega RP3, the dealer set me up with a Pro-ject Tubebox S (with two nice glowing 12AX7 tubes), have since added a TT PSU and these are all running into my Nait XS2 + FCXS, then Proac Studio 125 speakers. I didn't discuss the phono stage choice at the time of purchase as it was a good price - part of the TT deal. I currently have my Rega RP10 sitting on a MDF shelf. I'm considering either moving it to a TT wall shelf (not sure which make yet), or buying some form of vibration platform. My guess is that a wall shelf would be a better bet from a sound quality point of view? Interested in what others have experienced.

It is clearly in Naim's interest to claim that the ND555 is their best ever source seeing as they no longer manufacture the CD555 which I assume claimed the title since it was introduced up until now. But if true and not mere marketing hyperbole, where does that leave the CD555 and its owners which include myself? We obviously own a 555PS and probably most have DR upgraded. But if the ND555 sounds clearly better, the second hand value of a CD555 will probably take a hit, possibly a big one.

I've had a Nait XS and CD5x with a Flatcap 2x, Stageline, Rega Planar 25 and Dynaudio Excite X36 speakers for many years. I recently moved into a new home with a much better listening room and added an ND5 XS as well as discovering Roon (a Sonore bridge lets me use the ND5 XS as a Roon endpoint). Can the System Automation function on an NDS be used to control a Nat-05 tuner? I know that it is compatible with a Nac 552, n-Dac, and CD555. Can it also be used to change the preset channels on a Naim tuner with an RC5 input? i have a NDS/Nac552/CD555 and would like to add System Automation to a Nat-05 tuner, if possible. Arthur

I have bought a second-hand Terratec DMX 6Fire for use in recording via Audacity. Unfortunately, the Windows 10 drivers for the DMX are not very functional and I am unable to control the recording input levels. If I am recording from a digital source this is rarely a problem but if I am recording from vinyl the output level from my NAC 252 is too high. If someone has got a solution for the driver problem, that's great. Failing this I may have to try recording directly from my Stageline,...

I’ve just received an email with the news that Naim is to discontinue the CDX2 on 16/06/2018.

Is this discontinued, reason asked is massive discounts from dealer. Retail in Canada is $1699 sell for $1199 for Muso and QB retail $1099 sell for $799. One of the biggest dealers in Canada, so not going out of business. Did the same thing with present streamers 3 months ago, before new ones announced.

I have searched the forum but to no avail, .... if I was to bring - repatriate ;) ? - a Naim power supply with a European (German to be specific) 2 pin plug to the UK, would I just need to attach a UK mains lead or are there voltage considerations that would make this more complicated? Would be grateful for some advice here.
