Im looking for a little advice if its possible, I have a pair of Naim Allae floor standers which I have had great pleasure out of over several years however I have just upgraded my hifi to a descent spec and feel its time to unplug my Allaes and look for a long term upgrade. I do have a few speakers which I have read some great reviews on them all but due to my geographical location it would be difficult without traveling a considerable distance to book a demo and listen to them at the...

I notice someone is listing an (admittedly nice late) Aro arm with accessories close on the magic £2k mark on eBay As an Aro owner I don't think I would pay much over half that for a nearly 20 year old arm Not when Jonny 7 is making a nice new unipivot that is so highly rated

Was in at my dealer today and spied a pair of these. Apparently built for the BBC for outside broadcast Rodgers( forget the model no) speakers. They're active, powered by dedicated Quad amps with built in crossovers. Unfortunately they weren't running whilst I was there but Michael did say they sounded rather good. Willy.

Here is a detailed review of the two Mu-so all-in-one music systems. https://www.rateyoursound.com/...less-speakers-review "Is Naim A Righteous Contender? The Naim combines great sound quality and really elegant good looks. If you want a sound system that will look at home in your modern apartment, or your art gallery, boardroom or office then the Naim mu-so is for you. The mu-so screams... well, it doesn't scream anything... it exudes understated elegance, fine craftsmanship, and functional...

I wonder why the Supernait 2 is not rated 90 watts, rather than 80. I have read Martin Colloms' reviews of Naim's integrateds. Naim's integrated usually have about 9% more watts than their rating. The XS2 rated at 70 actually has 76, and the first Supernait rated at 80 actually has 87. In his review of the Supernait 2, the SN2 was measured to have 97 watts. That is 10 more watts than the first Supernait. Naim made the Naim 5si and the XS2 10 watts more powerful than their predecessors, and...

I just updated the firmware in my NAC N272, and like a good Naim user did a factory reset at the end... and now my remote handset no longer talks to the 272. My NDS handset now talks to both the NDS and the 272, which is a tad unfortunate to say the least (one would like to control them separately, not in sync !) I posted about this 2 years ago, but what I wrote then wasn't enough detail to solve today's problem and I've slept since then (and forgotten completely). Does anyone know how to...

I'm curious about their silver-plated RCA/DIN Interconnects. Anyone have any opinions of them to share? I've read mixed things about silver-plated interconnects but then Superlumina's are plated...

Is there a particular knack to fitting this properly? Been struggling for over an hour now to connect the amp end after a small faff with the source end. No pins are bent and all still wiggle around, but I can’t feel like it’s ready to engage and of course don’t want to apply unnecessary force. Every now and then I reinsert the old fixed-pin lead which just slides in. That makes me even more angry! Even tried turning amp on side and upside down to see if that would make the pins fall into...

Just bought the new Rega Ear headphone amp to be able to listen to my Sennheiser IE800 in-ears at home on my 252. Connected it to one of the 3 record outputs on 252 using a specially ordered Chord DIN output to RCA cable and selected relevant record output. Problem is output is very loud and I can barely touch the Rega volume control - a few % off minimum. If there was a 1 to 10 scale I might make 1! Any ideas apart from get a different, less sensitive, headphone amp! Specs are - Naim output...

Hello. I'm planning to buy the combination of Focal aria 936 and Naim atom. The point that I'm worrying about is the power of atom.(Aria 936 is a big speaker) I'm living in an apartment. so I'll not listen to the music loudly. However I worrying about the sound quality and resolution. will the resolution OK if I listen to the music not that loudly or do I need further power amp? If You think I need further power amp, do you think Atom is a good choice? (I'm gonna use the spotify that's why I...

How do naim pre-amps go together with other bran's power amps? I have recently bought a 2nd hand Simaudio Moon 330A and plan to try this with a naim pre-amp. At the moment I have a NAC 152XS and have just ordered cables to connect this to the 330A which haven't arrived yet. I am now also considereing buying a 2nd hand nac282 which I have a good deal on. Will the 282 work well with the Moon amp or might my 152xs work almost as good. Any suggestions?

Hi Guys Having recently ordered a Uniti Star, I’ve started thinking about some speakers to go with it, I have an old Pair of KEF Cresta 2 bookshelf speakers, I picked them up used for £60 (inc stands) I’m going to use the KEF’s at first, but when some more funds become available I like the look of the B&W 600 series Speakers, in particular the 683 S2’s Just thought I would float the idea on here to see what the general opinion is about Naim Amp’s matched with B&W speakers.

I have been told that my new speakers (Sonus Faber) can take weeks to run in... at the moment their treble frequencies are a bit too much for my ears... not at the 'ear bleeding' level, but nevertheless a bit too extreme for long term listening... this was not the case with the dealer demo systems I had at home for a number of weeks, so I am making the assumption that my new speakers do need running in period, before the treble calms down a bit and they sound the same as the demo speakers I...

So, I finally got around to getting rid of 90/92 combo and was amazed to get £400.00 to spend on newer goodies and bought a Nait XS & Stageline N..... Just spent a bit more on a Rega Planar 3 with A dynavector 10x5 to replace my old Rega/Elys 2 that has been driving me insane with hum for some time, (convinced myself there was an arm fault, rightly or wrongly). Questions I have been advised to add a Neo TTPSU but other than convenience of speed change, (which I am not bothered about), is...

Looking at upgrading my naim DC1 digital coax cable from HDX to n-DAC. Thinking about: 1. Vertere Pulse-HB coax. - GBP 860 2. Chord Company - perhaps the Epic - GBP 360 or Signature T/A - GBP 750 These will be part of an eventual full SL loom (currently DIN I/C and Speaker Cable.) So the nearest to the SL sound would be best. P.S. Any chance naim will bring out a SL digital coax cable ? I thought with streamers etc. that would be an obvious cable to bring out either at the original SL roll...

I have a non Naim cd player that ticks very loudly while playing red book discs and even keeps ticking in pause mode. The ticking is non stop on some discs, and and it briefly stops then starts again on other discs. The ticking is loudest at the beginning of a cd and gets a bit slower and quiter by the end. I also had a pioneer dvd player that made the same noise new out of the box a few years ago which I ended up giving to my neighbour. Can someone tell me what this noise is? For the record...

Hi, I have just reconnected by CDS3 to 555PSDR following the audition of a CD555. On reconnection the CDS3 turns on and the motor spins, there is a clicking noise from the laser mechanism and nothing will play. Any ideas of what might be going wrong would be appreciated.

I had the same issues with my Hi-Line. There's no secret, just luck and patience. It may connect first time, or you may be cursing it an hour later. I give mine 5 minutes and if I haven't managed to connect it then walk away from it and try afresh later. Personally I would leave well alone once it's connected as my experience is that they are a real pain to connect. However, once successful you will wonder why it was so difficult. Disconnecting and reconnecting it a few times doesn't seem to...

How do I connect the analog output of the 272 to the XLR inputs of the ATC 40A? What are the pin configuration for DIN to XLR? Also the 272 manual states 775mV as the output of the DIN, is this voltage too low for the XLR input of the ATC internal amp? Does this lead to a drop in power capacity of the the ATC actives? Thanks.

You may think that a silly question, but I’ve recently upgraded my interconnects and digital to Chord Indigo and the veil of sound improvement is greater than a full upgrade of Powerlines. Treble mostly, along with realism— but two tracks I’ve played just now have the female vocals distorted occasionally!! Album: The Quiet Storm CD 2 (highly rated if you search for it) This is a hifi question as I find the sound a tad irritating. Could it be bad recording engineering? Could it be clipping -...
