When using the mute button on and off there is a click through loudspeakers (or headphones) from my NAC 82. Is this normal or not ? Other preamplifiers are silent when engaging and disengaging the mute button and I know this having used NAC 112 and 282 on some previous occasions. I may have liked to use the mute more frequently but I don't like the clicks so I prefer not to use it. So what is the general opinion should clicks occur or not ?.
Sacrilege, I hear you say! You could be right, but still, I've been toying with this idea for a while now, and I might yet give it a try. I'm very happy with the sound from my NDX/282/200DR right now, but I think it's good to keep an open mind. I was barely even aware that passive preamps things existed until a forum member started extolling the virtues of the Townshend Allegri a few months ago, with claims that it could better a 552! Advantages: One small box, no mains cable. Relatively...
I recently upgraded my 5i V2 integrated to a Supernait 2. I am considering eventually upgrading my Sonus Faber Venere 2 stand mount speakers. There is nothing wrong with the SF Venere's. I like them very much. But, I know I can do better and my budget allows it. My source is an ND5 XS streamer. I am primarily looking at stand mounters. I have often heard that Naim amps match very well with Harbeth speakers. The Harbeth model I am looking at to match with my SN 2, is the Monitor 30.1. I have...
joined forum because I enjoy reading the many posts and I want to complement every body on such a good well mannered forum and good opinions. I do have a question I have a nait 2 cb I do like it but 2 things I look with envy at amps with a remote control and the constant fiddling with volume and balance and limited inputs , so I ask if the nait 5si is a better amp
And now the big brother Neat Iota Xplorer! Some week ago I wrote about the little Iota Alpha and with its small size and eager style of playing I wondered if it could be a modern Kan. Loving its sound and looks I found pit they had a big brother, Xplorer, coming out. And here it is! It has been playing for about 50 hours. The sound so far: In my hifi-adventure I started with Allaes, the Sbl for five years and the last year Ovator-400s. I really liked the Ovators and their sound. But my wife...

Does the recommendation for 3.5m speaker cable apply to the new Uniti range?
I am about to send my 552PS to Class A at Sheffield, but am a bit uncertain of the insurance value I should register with the courier. As far as I know you cannot buy a 552PS separately and I cannot find a cost price for it anyway. Any help will be appreciated.
I'll be glad to read any impressions about them, I believe there are some...any personal experience will be welcome. I've been to a lot of audio exhibits and I've never really been impressed by Naim equipment (needless to say why in this discussion) till I've heard those Focal. They were played in the last Munich audio show, in my humble opinion, this room sounds among the best, for me it was the first time I've heard Naim gear sound awesome!
Just played this at volume to try out my new cartridge Wow ! Davis' muted trumpet rasping high notes, Stitt's saxophone sounds great too - in fact this 1960 recording sounds great to me I should have changed the cartridge before now on this hearing Definitely hearing previously inaudible parts of the music. The bass is hugely improved, tighter etc. Really pleased - can begin to understand now why people are prepared to spend 'bucks' on cartridges

Yesterday I replaced my NAP200dr with a new NAP250dr. The new amp is running in, but first impressions are very positive. The grip and authority again improved while already very good with the 200dr. The new 250 is really the "boss of my living-room": so much control, so much detail .... I am very, very happy. I was told some 100+ hrs run-in time would be sufficient. Question to the forum: not too long ago I asked an expert for a second opinion on the exact placing/positioning of my...
Hi just wonder why it takes so long to issue the optional DAB/FM for Uniti Nova? Maybe i am the only one waiting for it would be pleased to hear if anyone else out where is seeking for this option to be released as announced since the launch of the Nova. THks pat
Just noticed that the NAT05 XS has been discontinued. Seems like radio is dead which is pretty sad. Any ideal if the new classic streamer will have a tuner board option? Please do not suggest Vtuner as the I still prefer old good analog FM radio.
Just kicked off some Porcupine Tree - this little box can sure go loud :)
My Linn Nexus speakers need replacing due to a failed tweeter. Yes, I know, those Nexus speakers were cheap and nasty but, in their day, I subscribed to the then theory of it was 'source first, speakers last' in system building. [62/hi-cap-140] Actually, I did audition a few pairs of speakers at the time and liked the sound. I'd like a pair of floor standing speakers of similar size, with a budget of around a £1000.00. As I have the luxury of grandchildren, my new speakers will need to have...
Listened to these at the dealer on the end of 272, XPS, 200 with the following conclusions: Way better than the smaller Russell K Red 100 standmount Significantly better than the PMC 25.23 floorstander These speakers have a lovely balance, sweet treble and a superb low end presence without being overpowering. Much more musical insight than the PMC 25.23 as well. Highly recommended.
The new Naim manual for the DR amps ( in my case a 250DR) states that the amp should be connected to a pre-amp before being turned on. However, I recall comments from the fourm that the new DR models don't have this limitation - while for the non-DR versions a pre-amp connection is still recommended for the amp to be stable. I have another Naim amp on demo for a week right now and would like to keep the 250DR warm ( i.e. powered up) so that I can a do a swap at some point to compare them.
Hi I have had my current system from new since 1999 and is 3.5 with flatcap, rega P6, 92 with flatcaps, 90 and epos 11 and tannoy r3. I have been looking at updating my system some what since I got myself a nd5xs and now have a fully serviced 8 pot 82 and 250, got the 82 running on both flatcaps at the moment and as I don't use the cup much these days then I was thinking do I keep the 82 on the flatcaps or get a suppercap when one comes up for sale and then put one back on the cup ? As I...
Apart from the well known wall diffusers, curtains of a certain shade, audiophile carpets, wall hung tuning devices and other such esoteric goodies that costs dearly. I took delivery and installed this.. A Himalayan Salt Lamp. Other than looking cool it has lots of other uses that helps audio. Increases our energy levels from release of negative ions. Neutralizes Electromatic Radiation exposure from all everyday appliances and devices. Reduces static electricity from the air. Improves mood...
Hi all, I've got a second-hand FlatCap XS, bought several years ago through a dealer. When I got it, I noticed that it had the "bleeding" logo issue, so I got the fascia replaced for free. However I just noticed that there is a small gap between the fascia and the box. It's a couple of mm maximum and you can only notice when looking from close-by. Anyway, I wanted to ask if this is something I can easily fix on my own (I know how a screwdriver works! ), or if it has to go back to the...
I live in an area that gets power outages due to summer storms. I want to provide my Naim system with protection against the potential mains spikes that could occur, but as I am in a rented house then my options are limited. I have read that the normal surge suppressor multi sockets are a problem as they do affect the SQ of the system. Can anybody recommend how best to fix my concern? Do Furutech or Wireworld offer suitable items (although Furutech sometimes get mentioned as not good with Naim)?
I’m considering changing my speakers and would welcome suggestions for inclusion in a shortlist. My system is solely vinyl. I have Naim NAP135s (just serviced at Class A) with my faithful Naim NAC52/52PS. My source is the Well Tempered Versalex and Dynavector 17D3 and a Dynavector P75 Mk3 phono. My present speakers are Shahinian Obelisk Mk1s. These were something of an impulse buy having hear the Mk2 version at a dem for my turntable. The Mk1s are not perhaps the best match for my 135s. My...
....in bound :)
My Nap500 is quite elderly - I had it serviced and dr upgraded last year, great - however, the amp still uses the original din to xlr interconnects to the preamp - these are around 16 years old. The amp sounds great - so I have been reluctant to change the leads. I wondered how others have got on - my experience with a NAP250dr SL din to xlr was underwhelming/disappointing....
