I've only had one demo of a 500 vs 500 DR but it was a general Naim presentation in a hotel. My NAC552 adds the occasional 'pop' - it's just like listening to vinyl. It all started a while back right after a DR upgrade; the pops would occur very occasionally and were almost un-noticable, but recently I've noticed they are becomming more frequent... about 2 or 3 an hour. At work, I have a NAD D3020 at my desk. Powering some Rega RS1s previously, and Totem Kin Minis since a few months. Awesome sound, No fiddling around, does exactly what I want. Hi, My current setup is 1st generation naimuniti with Nap 250dr . I have a fair number of CDs around 200+ and trying to figure out which is the right upgrade to replace my naimuniti. A second hand 552 came available locally which has been upgraded to DR status. It is a Naim product I have alway aspired to own. They are rare so, although the timing is not ideal, I though I should try and purchase if its a significant upgrade. To my amazement, i am coming to the conclusion that the benefits over my 2002 252/non DR supercap are not that large (I can directly A/B as the 2 preamps are both powered up). Just for fun I tried a 17.4kHz mosquito test tone, played through our system, on our pre-teenage grandchildren. Apparently they heard it loud and clear but Mrs NewNaim16 and myself heard absolutely nothing—as in zilch. No big surprise, although a little bit depressing but life goes on.

Hi, Having been gifted a family member's LP collection, and loaned an old Rega Planar 2 to play them on, I'm keen to purchase a new Planar 3. The P2 has been running through a budget NAD phono stage into the NAC-82, and today with much improvement into my NAC-42.5 + HC which has 322 phono boards. Do you spend time and brain cycles with cables dressing? Does it make a difference in terms of sound? For those owning a NAC252, did you make specific tweaks? I currently enjoy my LP12/Lingo/HDX/XPS2/252/Supercap/SNAXO 3-6/Supercap/3x250 (Olive) into NBL's. Seeing as Witch Hat are going to be charging VAT after Easter I've taken the plunge and ordered three 4 meter pairs of Phantom speaker cable for my active Isobariks. The money back if not satisfied guarantee makes this a fairly safe gamble. They should arrive around the middle of April so I'm looking forward to see what they can do.
