I have a non DR 555ps at the moment, it’s awaiting something to power since I took the CDX2 away. It will probably be a ND555 so I’m considering options. Use it as it is, DR it or for less than a DRing I could get a second non DR. Obviously there’s no experience with the impending streamers but had anyone tried 2 non DR ones against a single DR one on a 555 or a NDS?

Morning all Current setup is 152/155/FlatCap going to PMC Twenty 23s. My source is a Linn LP12, essentially, Akurate spec with the Radikal PS. I’m thinking to upgrade my amps to 282/250. I know that this should be an improvement, but are there other options I should consider in this price range. Also, I want to change the tone arm cable to the DIN plug and am looking at the Naim RCA/DIN cable or a Chord Shawline or Clearway. How do these cables compare? Thanks in advance

Has anyone here heard XTZ's 99.25 standmount, 99.26 (not discontinued) or the 99.36 floorstander with the SuperUniti or any other Naim amplification? I've welcomed my SuperUniti to the fold and am starting to weigh up some speaker options, but I've had my eye on XTZ for some time.

I own a Naim Uniti Star and an analogue phono Benz Micro PP1. Now I use a VdH D502, but I'd like to buy something more "naim-oriented" (RCA to 5 DIN) for a general upgrade. What are you suggestions? Does exist a SNAIC RCA to DIN 5? Would be an upgrade from the VdH? Thank you.

Hi everyone, Yesterday I decided to dismantle my Hi Fi system so I could do some cleaning and just check as I do (periodically) the unplugging and re-plugging of the cables with some general cable dressing and so forth... Upon doing this (out of curiosity) I decided to swap out my Hi-Line interconnect cable and try the old grey/lavender again. WOW - what an uplift in musicality - my foot was tapping harder than groundworker's boot! This had me scratching my head as i'm sure I found the...

Hi all I've just come into possession of a secondhand pair of SBLs. They arrived in the original packaging but the bass driver phase plugs were loose. Can I simply glue them back in (if so, with what?), or is something more involved ... uh ... involved? If the solution various by bass driver type, how can I tell the difference? Any help would be much appreciated

I have been upgrading my system to its present and final level, but just changed the interconnect to Chord Company Indigo and the upgrade is like a box upgrade. Granted, I’ve been enjoying the electronic upgrades, but stifling what was being output. Maybe it’s also going RCA to DIN, but a cable £600 extra has made instruments stand out more from each other, with a texture hearing vibrating hands on violin strings, shifting of chairs in the orchestra. Why don’t people just upgrade cables...

My NAT01 has returned to HQ for some love and attention. I noticed the other night that a buzzing noise had become apparent when not playing music. After much cable twiddling I cured it by plugging the Hydra plug from the absent 01 into the MOSE LP12 power supply and ditching the Mose lead. Buzz gone. An earthing issue with spare plug not connected I guess.

Hi all. I have a question, and it may be a dumb one given that a lot of people don't like exotic cables. Maybe 'exotic' is the wrong word. I have a pair of Reference RCA cables made by Transparent Audio. I originally got them to connect my NDX to my Burmester 082 integrated amp in my other system. They were 'tuned' for those two pieces of gear by Transparent. However, I've decided to try them instead between my soon-to-arrive Dave DAC, and the 272 in my other system. Does this tuning or...

This evening I replaced my Supernait2/HiCapDR by a new NAC252/SuperCapDR/NAP300DR system. What a change! Out of the box, the combo sounded amazing comparing to its predecessor. I have more of everything. It’s hard to translate with words those differences. The instruments are more real, the performers are there. You can hear them, their breathing, and their hands on the instruments. Cellos attacks are precise and clear. Piano... Well it sounds much more like a real piano, especially the end...

Hi I have the option to buy a pair of mint condition sonus faber cremona m and would like peoples advice on pairing with a naim streaming setup vs separates. Does the one box Uniti Nova/Star/SuperUniti2 have enough power output to get the best of out the cremona? or do you need to go with the classic series DAC and SuperNait? I am looking for a more upfront and attacking sound. Imagine playing The White Stripes or The Chemical Brothers. Any recommendations on other DAC and amp combo's?

Hello to all, I possess with satisfaction a system composed by Naim Dac-v1 and Supernait 2 with mac mini as source. I would like to change the interconnection cable between V1 and SN2 with a hiline. I currently use a RCA Neutral Cable Fascino, better than the standard 5 pin snaic 4. Now I would like to use a HILINE, to have a further improvement over the rca connectors. In your opinion, is it worth investing money on a 4-pin to 5 pin hiline cable? And if Naim produces a new dac that use the...

I am considering using a Heed Orbit 2 with my Ariston RD40. I understand that the motor is an AC synchronous 110v unit, and the Orbit would provide a stable 50hz and 220v. There is a capacitor voltage divider using two 0.22 microFarad capacitors in the RD40, that would then halve the voltage. This means the Heed would be “plug and play”. All good. My question is that these capacitors were installed in 1983, along with another which I think is for switch surge (?), so would there be any...

Hi Folks This weekend's project is to repaint the feature wall in the lounge. This involves dismantling the system to access the wall. This gives me an opportunity to reconsider the stacking order of my system. I'd like your thoughts, please. My system is located on two stacks of six Isoblue shelves. (My attempts to post an image from Imgur have failed so far!!) The stacking order is... LEFT: CDS3, Space, 252, 2Qute Dac, Space, 300 Head RIGHT: ND5XS, Headline, Headline PSU, 555PS, Supercap,...

Hello - I have an Astell & Kern SP-1000 player. Currently I use a stereo mini out of it, to a cable terminated with RCA, into Analogue 2 of my 272. Sounds great. However, I want to try optical out from the DAP to a DAC. When I unplug the cable from the headphone/optical out of the DAP, I hear an immediate hum from my system. This is even with the DAP not playing, completely turned off. When I plug the RCA to mini cable back in, the humming stops. it's not very loud but it is annoying.

Can someone advise on DAC's please. I have a HDX & NDX running into a Supernait2. Which has the better DAC inside it & would the NDAC be an upgrade to either? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I am looking for some advice on Naim CD Players, I currently own a Naim CD5 and HI Cap 2, I recently part exchanged a Flatcap 2 for the Hi Cap 2 and the difference in sound especially increased clarity, presence and detail has been very surprising. As a result I am wondering how this would stack up against a CDX2? Has anyone taken this upgrade route and did they notice a significant improvement? Regards BROOM

Should the SN comes last with sources first or should it be plugged first from incomming mains cable? Order now in the musicline netsleiste is (position 1 closest to incomming mains cable): 1. CD5si 2. ND5XS 3. blank (the Rega Fono wall socket is too big so won't fit next to pos.2) 4. Rega Fono 5. Pro-ject TT 6. SN

Greetings all: I believe this is my first post, not that it matters, but I need some info. I bought a used Melco NA1 NAS and I am now looking at integrated amps. I will replace my old separates with an integrated amp. Naim sound has always been my preference in this regard. To use the Melco with my current 25 year old system I had to get an outboard preamp to plug the CD connection on my old preamp and the NAS works well. So the question is, to use the Melco with a new Naim preamp would it...

I am hopefully about to receive a NAP 300DR and I have decided to use this opportunity to try and get my stacking order "right" , based on feedback I have read on here . Situation is as follows: - I have a double width Stands Unique Stand ( toughened glass) - I know two separate racks would be better , but we are where we are for the moment - this gives me 8 slots in the rack with the top level of the stand taken up by the central speaker of my 5.1 system - Trying to follow the guidance on...

I’ve always wondered if such statements have any science behind them? Sure, some rooms are awful acoustically or at least challenging In terms of shape and/or surfaces, but can a room be actually too small for a particular model/size of loudspeakers? Besides anecdotal experiences and samples of ‘1’, What is the truth behind such statements? In the same way that we see minimum power requirements for loudspeakers, why is it that we never see minimum ‘room volumes?
