I have just noticed one of my CDs is skipping on a single song. Is there a way of telling if it's a faulty CD or the CD player itself? The player is a CDX2. So far no other CDs are skipping when I play them in the player. However, the "faulty" CD plays ok from my computer. Is it possible that the CDX2 is just more sensitive to faulty CDs?

Hi, Recently I have bought a Nait 5si amp. When I first connected it to my system I was really impressed. There was lots of bass, and it was tight, punchy and solid with great sense of PRaT. Hello, Last December I placed a topic about my ‘ unsatisfying sound experience' after service and DR upgrade my NAP300. These are the results, 1/ One of the XLR sockets on the 300 appeared to have a bad contact: - One XLR-socket had indeed a bad contact so Naim replaced both XLR sockets. i'm considering a pair of these two support my various 'boxes' - these a currently arranged along 'brain and brawn' lines. Budget would limit the purchase to a single item to start with. This has been nagging at me for a while. It used to be that " going active " was the pinnacle of performance for a given system. Up until the mid 1990's, the options for going active, limited though they were, were still current. You could do this with any of the current Naim speaker offerings or Linn speaker offerings and it it did not necessarily mean you intended to max-out the sytem with DBLs or Keltiks. Many opinions I guess. Recently I have purchased a s/h dps 2 with an Origin Live Encounter 9" tonearm. As far as I can see the armboard hole for the Origin measures 23mm, same as Rega arms or even the Bauer Unipivot arm. Am I right? I wonder if I should look for another more suited tonearm such as the Bauer Unipivot. Second, are there obvious riaa`s and pu for it, balancing with my 272/250? Hello folks, A friend lent me some decent lengths of DNM Resolution loudspeaker cable to try with my NAP250DR and PMC Twenty 26 speakers. I don't know anything about this cable and am wary of connecting it. The reviews that I've read seem to be positive. The cable comes with DNM's own 4mm plugs fitted and I've read the writing on the back of the amp that says "Do not replace supplied loudspeaker plugs with individual 4mm plugs" which is of course exactly what I'd be doing. So recently, in my local classifieds I came across an old 1984 Naim Nait 1 for cheap. The seller was a few hours away, but agreed to meet half way, so I couldn't test it. I took a gamble. I bought the amp, got it home and am absolutely amazed at how good it sounds. The back of the amp has a 240v sticker on the back. I'm in Canada, so I guess at some point it was converted to 110. My question is basically if I should invest in recapping it. Doing the recap would cost me more than what I paid...

We are pondering a house move and an important consideration will be a decent dedicated listening room for the Hi-Fi. It may be easier to find a smallish room for this purpose than a large one. I’m keen to hear of folks experience of using good sized speakers in smaller rooms. I currently use Shahinian Obelisk2’s in a room about 18’ x 13’ with the speakers firing across the room, but I’m sure a smaller room than this could work. I just wondered if someone can confirm that the connection between my NAP200 amp and speakers is correct. Basically the ch2 right channel on amp is currently connected to the left speaker (as you face it). The ch1 left channel is connected to the right speaker (as you face it).

I just ordered a Mutec MC-3+ Smart Clock USB interface to replace my Stello U3. Both the Mutec and my Naim dac have BNC connections that I would like to use. Obviously my first thought was to get a DC1 BNC to BNC but as my interconnect and speaker cables are Super Luminas, I was wondering if there were BNC cables that are in the same league as the Super Luminas.
